As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

One of my 2 best friends is having a hard time. Her family (her mom's family, actually) has told her her entire life that she's worthless; she wore a CHILDREN'S size 12 when she was 17, and her grandparents told her she was FAT; her uncle, aunt, and brother have told her repeatedly that she's not as smart as they are because she didn't finish college (even though she graduated high school a year early, after being in 5 different schools); they all tell her she doesn't know anything about raising kids because they've done better jobs (one has a kid who has spent the last 7 years in college with a GPA of less than 1.5, one has 2 kids - the college dropout drug addict and the child who is years behind in high school - he's a freshman and should be a senior and he has a 0.8 GPA, and the other has smart kids who are doing okay in school, but they're still young - and they get anything they want and have no discipline.
HER children: a 21 year old DD who is a wonderful young lady - she's graduating university with a high GPA - after 3 years of study, with a dual major, and an 18 year old son (as of 12AM Nov. 1) who is a Senior in HS, and has never had any problems. Both kids did Marching band all 4 years of HS, and the DD was on the varsity team all 4 years, plus swam for her university for the first 2 years. They're nice, outgoing, giving children. The only problem I've ever seen with them is that the son is a little OCD, and he only dated one girl all through HS - they just broke up after almost 4 years!
She's always given me great advice, and wonderful support during times of trouble in my own life. I've tried to do the same for her.
Something has happened. She won't talk to me or our other friend. She'll only communicate through e-mail, and that's not much ("I don't want to do anything, I'm worthless"). She writes that her family has told her she's a horrible person who destroys everyone she has anything to do with, so she's not associating with anyone anymore.
She has MS and FibroMylegia, and has a hard time getting around, even with braces on both legs and a quad cane. She can't drive and hasn't for 17 years. She's not able to work, and can't even leave her home without help (don't know why her husband hasn't built some handrails onto their steps). The three of us friends go out to eat lunch almost every week - and she's always looked forward to that, since it's often the only time during the week she gets out.
I'm frustrated and sad. This lady means a lot to my family, and our mutual friend's family. It's been a tradition for more than 10 years that we have Halloween at our house and they all come. This friend did not come tonight, nor did any of her family. I think that alone scares me more than anything else. She would never purposely hurt me - not until now.
So, can we have some pixies? The other friend and I are going over to her house tomorrow to try to get her to leave the house and talk to us. I'm afraid we may not succeed.

Depression is common in people with MS. My Mom had it and would often tell us that she wished she was dead. Don't give up on her. Maybe you and your friends could bring her a little something and have a visit in her home if she won't come to you. In the meantime, sending only the best wishes to all.
