As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). Here's my dilemma: my DD is a senior this year in High School. Last year she took the SAT's and ACT's and we used my email address to register. Now, I find my inbox flooded with emails from colleges. They all offer to send info and ask her to apply to their universities. I'm not kidding, I get at least 8 a day from some well known schools and some colleges I've never even heard of (Colorado School of Mines? really?). I've been forwarding them all to my DD, and she HATES it. And to top it off, we've now started to get phone calls from schools asking if she has any questions about their college or if they can offer her any advice. We're both feeling a little overwhelmed by this.
I'm not sure, but perhaps you could contact the ACT or SAT people and ask them since they are obviously the ones that gave out your email address to start with.
I about cracked up when you mentioned Colorado School of Mines. I had never heard of it until about five years ago, and now I know two people who went there! (and I've never lived anywhere NEAR Colorado). Believe it or not, it is actually a very good engineering school. Who knew?

If your DD retakes her SAT's make sure she doesn't check that little box saying her scores can be released. My kids took SAT's a while ago (last one 5 years ago) before the onslaught on email. They did get tons of snail mail for a couple of months. My only advice is to delete. It will run it's course as the next group takes the tests.
My DD (also from NH) had a friend go to Colorado School of Mines and another to something similar in one of the Dakotas.
I would watch to see if any of the schools she would be interesting in applying to send emails. Some of the schools will waive their application fee, including some pretty good ones. I know my DD had her fee waived to Emory but I can't remember any other ones.
Have fun with the college search. You never know what you will find and where you will end up!
My guess would be that her scores were pretty good. Be proud and hit delete on all the schools that you aren't interested in. If they phone, simply say, sorry we're not interested and hang up.
My dd is already getting questionaires (all they can do as she is only a sophomore) from colleges because she was seen by hockey coaches when we attended the Developmental Camp this summer that was run by the olympic program. I'm sure it just get's worse.

Colorado School of Mines is an amazing private college right next to the Coors Brewing Company here in Golden, Colorado. Its focus is engineering and the sciences. It is one of the toughest private schools to get into for engineering and science. It is a smaller school so there is a lot more individual attention than big universities.

Unfortunately, they’re not doing anything wrong. Your DD must have clicked the little box that says that they’re going to share her information with colleges that may be right for her. Seems like such a good idea at the time…
You could respond to each school individually, asking them to take you off their mailing list, but it’s really not worth it. Like someone else said, let it run its course. And maybe take a look at them when you have some time. You never know if the right school for DD might be sitting in a pile on your counter!
We've been getting deluged with e-mail, and regular mail for colleges for the last 2 years. Thank goodness Kathryn is a senior this year and this will all go away next year.
On the up side, two of the colleges she's interested in are a result of the mail they sent. Up until then, we hadn't heard of them, but checked their websites and found out they're great for her!!
