As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I have been friends with "Jane" for 15 years. She has always made it clear that she was not well off & couldn't do many things like going to lunch often or buying clothes new, but had to shop at resale stores.
Over the years I have given her many gifts of clothes, household goods & furniture. I even offered to take her to WDW my treat..
She never invited us to her home because it was always "a mess"
When Mike & I relocated I even set her up to take over my job, but after 2 weeks she quit, leaving me very embarrassed to my former boss.
Fast forward to now..
She & her DH sold their house because she said they couldn't afford to live there anymore. She said they were looking for a little fixer house out in the country where it would cost less to live. They were not wanting to spend more than 85,000.00 because they couldn't afford payments.. Again we felt bad for them & gave her a beautiful painted dresser that didn't fit with our home here.
I just found out that I have been duped She & her DH purchased a 325,000.00 home on acreage in the country & paid CASH! ( I got the info from the county tax assessors office) Last time I saw her she showed up in a new Volvo & said her DH's friend gave it to them, Her DH was driving a new SUV that I was told was a salvage..
I don't think I can ever trust her or talk to her again..
Why would she do this? What would you do?

Oh my gosh ! I am so sorry that happened to you. You were trying to be a good friend and that friend took total advantage of your kindness. I would personally confront her and see why she felt it necessary to lie to you and for so many years. I tell you what, it would take me a very long time to ever trust her again, if ever. I hope things work out for you.
I think I'd confront her to just ask "why"? Did they suddenly inherit a fortune or what? Curious, isn't it? There may be a good explanation (can't imagine what that might be, though ) but I bet you would be able to tell by her response if she has been deceiving you on purpose. Some people just have a knack for taking advantage of other people's kindness and generosity and it's happened in my life before where they end up winning - somehow they inherit money or property or someone bails them out. Meanwhile the rest of us just work away.....
Let us know what her answer is if you do ask though - just curious!

I am usually all about confronting someone who has done someone wrong, but in this case I honestly think I would just walk away. She has taken advantage of your kindness for so many years. I would cut off contact and just try to move on. IF somehow, some way there really is a crazy story about her winning the lottery or something (which I doubt since she tried to tell you someone gave her a brand new car), then it is up to her to come explain it to you and try to save the friendship. It doesn't seem worth your time IMHO. Sorry to say that, but sometimes it's just better to cut someone loose.

It is wierd. More often, people exaggerate stating they have more than what they do- not less. I agree with the poster that said it sounds like she is one of those people that constantly need sympathy...... And since there seems to be no rhyme or reason for it, she may very well be a compulsive liar.....
Too bad you have lost a friendship, but it sounds like it was not a good one anyhow....
If I actually went into all the odd things she has done to me you would wonder what took me so long to wake up.. I feel foolish, That's what is the worst thing. I was so trusting.. Now I know why after we drove over a hour to see her new home she refused to answer the phone to direct us to the house. She didn't want us to see it. We drove all the way out there for nothing.
I am so sorry this happened to you. Personally, I'd move on, as I wouldn't want to deal with the confrontation of asking why this happened. You've invested far too much time and energy in her and I think it's time to leave her to her own devices.
Don't beat yourself up over this. With everything you have done for her over the years, it just shows what a wonderful caring person you are. Continue to be yourself and know that you are the "richer" because of the love that you share with others. I truly believe that people who give of themselves to others without thought of what's in it for them are the greatest heroes of all.
I would be tempted to call her from another phone and ask her why she lied to you and that I would not be talking to such a thief and liar again. (yes, I said thief. She robbed you of your trust and took items under false pretenses)
