As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

Today, I gave Lenny a honey-do list because it was his day off from Walgreens. Out of 5 items, 2 were really short time wise and number one on the list - the most important thing for him to do today - was to call and find out what we can do about our health insurance situation. I'm sure many of you see where this is leading. Lenny never called. He's been outside all day doing whatever it is he's been doing to his van. I am so ready to kill him. It's not like I asked him to do alot. And the only reason why I had for him to call is because we currently have MassHealth with him being the main "subscriber" to it. For some reason, Massheath takes this HIPPA crap way to seriously and I cannot call them about anything, they won't talk to me. I've tried and I always got the same answer, they could only talk to Lenny about all of that . They could only help me with issues regarding only me and my appointments, etc. They wouldn't even talk to me about Abby, it had to be Lenny. Maybe others have had it easier, but they won't talk to me which makes things really, really hard. So right now, I am just so (*&^% ticked at him. He's been outside since 8 am this morning. It's now 6 pm and he's accomplished nothing on the list and he works from 8 am to 9 pm the rest of the week, except Saturday, And next Monday, when he has a day off again is Memorial day which means no one will be at Masshealth for him to call. (imagine Lenny's head in place of that computer).

Darlene, it's alright, I completely understand. Our insurance company is the same way, won't twlk to anyone but the subscriber. It is frusterating and I'm sure you want to strangle Lenny right now. It is frusterating when they will only talk to the main subscriber and not someone else on the policy. Tons of hugs for you.

Oh, I hear you!!!! It drives me flippin nuts when I take the time to WRITE DOWN something I need DH to do when he's not busy and I am, and then he "forgets" to do it. Sometimes I think I need to tattoo it to his arm... ...boys.

The MassHealth is doing what they should. I know it's frustrating, but it's a federal law and pounded into everyone who deals with healthcare's head.
There SHOULD, however, be something that Lenny can sign, giving them permission to talk to YOU. Maybe you could call them tomorrow and ask them it.

Insurance is so funky about privacy stuff now. I know it's necessary a lot of times, but it does get frustrating.
Brent is the same way about things like that. I ask him to make calls or what-have-you and he will, but in his own sweet time. I think it's the way of the male species.
Brent took Sarah to have her wisdom teeth removed this morning and the person at the front desk would only talk to Sarah (she's 18) about her appointment as well as the bill, even though Brent was the one who wrote the check for the surgery.
I agree with the others about having your DH sign a consent allowing you to talk to them. As far as the list, is it possible that your DH might be resentful of you telling him what HE needs to do. You are both responsible adults. Wouldn't it be better to sit down and discuss what needs to be done, who is best able to accomplish it, and divide up the duties? I can't blame him for not wanting to spend every waking hour of his free time doing what you think he should be doing. If today was his only day off, maybe there were things he wanted to do and calling slipped his mind. JMHO.

A lot of the list on his day off is stuff he wants to get done so I know he's not resentful of it. I make it because he has the bad habit of forgetting what it was he wants to get done. Once in a great while I'll throw something on there I'd like done (like today I wanted him to cut up the chicken leg quarters I bought yesterday - I do a really bad hack job on them) but it's not a killing affair if it doesn't. Today, Masshealth was first on the list becasue he has to do it, they won't talk to me and I just feel that should have been his first priority above everything else. The insurance doesn't just affect me, it affects him and Abby too so that was something he should have done for the family first before he did something only for himself IMO.

Thanks for that information. Knowing that, I'll see if Lenny will call and get it. Like was mentioned, with my schedule, I have a lot more availability to make phone calls than he does.

If nothing else, he could grant her Power of Attorney in all medical matters. That's a bit drastic, but honestly, as his wife she'd get that by default if he were ever rendered incapable of communicating his own decisions, anyway.
