As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

Anybody know of any fun baby shower games? Co-hosting a shower for my SIL and haven't been to any showers with games, but we'd like to do some. If you have any fun ideas, please share.
I like the one where everyone gets a safety pin of sorts as they come in the door and are told not to say "baby" or some other key word. If you hear someone say "baby" you take their pin, if you say baby, they can take your pin. Later- the person with the most pins wins!
I'll name a few more-
take a thing of yarn and everyone cuts of a piece how long they think is needed to go around mommy's belly. The person closest wins..
Have a tray full of baby supplies, place it on table for a few minutes. Remove tray. Have people write down all the items. Person that remembered most items wins.

You can play baby shower bingo.....use the mother-to-be's registry (and other common baby items) to make bingo cards -write an item in each square. When an item is unwrapped, people mark it on their cards. First one with bingo wins (you can also do 4 corners, X, etc.)
On the baby food game: we always did it by taking the labels off or covering them with some paper. Write a number or letter on the jar, and have the ladies guess the type of food in the jar (you don't open the jars, and you can give the mom a list, or write the type of food on the jars after the game.
DH's family had a few they played at EVERY shower/party.
Have each player sit on a chair, blindfold them, and put a large mixing bowl on their lap. The bowl is full of cotton balls. Have them balance a plate (paper is good) on their head with one hand, and use a serving spoon to transfer cotton balls from the bowl to the plate with the other. It's actually really fun!
The other is: mason jar or other wide-ish mouthed jar on the floor. Have the players stand over it, and try to drop clothes pins (or diaper pins) from their nose in to the jar (they only hold the pin to their nose, not with it!)
Name all of the famous family kids - Cosby Kids, Brady Bunch, Kardashians, etc. Whatever names you can think of. Make sure you do your research! I once won a game, because I remembered things like: the Bradys had a cousin live with them (Oliver), and so did the Cosbys (Pam). The lady who wrote the game didn't even know most of the answers!

My SiL just hosted an adoption/baby shower for me and baby Katie. She had a "get to know Tricia/Roger/Katie" multiple choice quiz about our family and she also made a sudoku game but instead of numbers, she used the letters in the phrase "shower day"

I have played the yarn length game with toilet paper instead of yarn. You have to pull off however many squares you think it will take to go around the mom's belly.
One favorite of all our family baby showers is to take various candy bars (mini's or bite size) and melt it inside numbered diapers. Then pass the diapers around and let the guests guess which candy bars are in the diapers. Have them write their guesses on a piece of paper and then whoever guesses the most correctly wins. This game started in our family when my cousin was pregnant and her mom told this story: "Pat (the dad) was watching the baby the other day and he couldn't find the baby food. So he fed the baby candy bars. Can you guess what he fed the baby?"
There was also a trivia game about celebrity baby names. Most of the answers we those with really unusual names like Apple or Rumor.
You can also do the ice cube melt----freeze those little plastic babies in square ice cube, include one with twins/triplets if you can. Have each guest take one and put it in a small plastic bag. The one that "delivers" (melts their baby out of the ice) first, wins a prize

We also do the toilet paper diaper. You divide the guests into groups and hand each group a roll of toilet paper. They have to use the entire roll to put a diaper on one member of their group. The Mommy to be judges the "best" diaper and the entire group gets a prize. They aren't allowed to use pins or tape of anything to hold it up. The pics are hilarious.
If you are having guys too we like the baby bottle chug. You put soda, beer or juice in baby bottles and have the guys compete to see who finishes their bottle first!

I can't think of any games not mentioned already. But I have to say I am SO happy you are going to play games. The last several baby showers I've been to - NO GAMES! So disappointing!!
