As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Day in the life of a househusband
Ever wonder what a househusband does? I have Fridays off from work and revert back to my Mr. Mom days. I am on break from my "home work" right now.
6:30 AM, take the dog for a walk. 18 degrees.
7:30, Wake the rest of the family up (after my 2 cups of coffee).
8:40, to the bus stop with the kids (also known as neighborhood gossip time).
9:00, Make a deposit at one bank then across the street to pay the mortgage at another.
9:20, Lowes for solar salt, carbon monoxide detector and door knob.
9:45, Staples for office supplies (maybe I am working today!)
10:00, BJ's to buy a Goofy lamp for my son's birthday next month.
10:15, Hannaford for grocery shopping.
11:00, Back home to put away groceries.
11:30, At the office to drop off supplies.
12:00 Back home, lunch while I surf the Disney boards.
12:30 to 2:30, House cleaning (changing beds, washing floors, you know the drill).
2:30 to 3:00, install door knob on downstairs bath door. Had to redo the holes. Lots of muttering and chiseling.
3:00 to 3:45, Free time, surfing while listening to Off Kilter CD's with volume up all the way. Bentley is hiding down in the basement rec room now. The bass is making my keyboard shake!
3:45, kids come home.
3:45 to 5:30, Cooking with Don show. Chicken Cordon Bleu and potatoe (Dan Quail spelling course) skins with cheese and bacon. I'll be assisted by the now world famous Ashley. (See Disnydad & Company try OKW)
Maybe about 7:00 I'll ask Nancy to rub my feet.
Oh! By the way, I got another invite to join AARP today. Only 27 more days to age over 50 discounts!

Re: Day in the life of a househusband
May I be the first to wish you a happy birthday!
Those over 50 discounts don't exist at least I haven't seen any. One word of advice though what ever you do don't make a dr appointment. It seems after age 50 everything starts to fall apart. DH and I ask each other on a daily basis "did you remember to take your pill?"

Re: Day in the life of a househusband
H'mmmm it's a funny thing but, as I was doing a similar drill earlier today, I was wondering how many women here trust their husbands, partners, (whateva PC term you want to fill in the blank with) to do laundry......let alone make a meal.....I'll play Lazarus and rise from the dead before I'll let MINE make dinner.
I thought I could trust him with some simple aspects of the laundry...until the Christmas Sheet Caper....Suffice it to say that my WHITE Eeyore emobroidered Henley top is now blushed rose.....

Re: Day in the life of a househusband
What is it about those Off Kilter CD's that require the volume to be turned all the way up?
I all to often find myself dancing around the house singing See the chameleon, lying there in the sun all things to everyone... at the top of my lungs!!

Re: Day in the life of a househusband
WOW...I am amazed.
My husband helps out on his day off (Wednesday), but only one chore a week....an d when he does laundry, he just leaves it in a big pile on our bed for me to iron, fold put away.
I prefer when he vacuums, as I ate to do it, but he vacuums around things (including DS-3, who is sitting on the floor)!

Re: Day in the life of a househusband
Wow, Disneydad, and I thought I had gotten the last of the good ones! I have to give my DH credit, his mother was a horrible housekeeper, so he's come a long way. Because we both work long hours, we have someone come in and clean, so the standing agreement is that in between her visits we both make a concentrated effort to pick up. During the last year or so I've been working more than DH (for a change) so he now does all the laundry and the dishes after dinner.
Your wife is one lucky lady(though I don't know if I'd go far enough to rub your feet!!). Enjoy your weekend, you've earned it.

Re: Day in the life of a househusband
It's not fair!!
My DF's idea of heavy cleaning is when I force him to carry his plate "all the way into the kitchen."
Actual quotes heard in my home:
"All the dishes? I thought you just wanted me to do some of them." -DF
"I didn't know you wanted me to take the trash out." -DF (this is the ONLY chore I ask him to do consistently)
"I didn't hang up the laundry because I couldn't find any coat hangers." -DF (we have hundreds of them)
and a couple from my DD (she is SOOOO her Daddy's girl):
"Why do I have to clean my room? It just gets messy again."
"Mom, I don't put stuff in the trash. That's a Mom-job" (Boy, was I pleased to hear that! )
So, if any of you wants to adopt a young mother in her mid 20's, I'm game.. REALLY.
If I moved out right now they'd be just fine until they ran out of clean dishes, then they'd probably starve to death.

Re: Day in the life of a househusband
Hmmm...I think I will print off this topic and leave it on the table for DH to see. He's actually pretty good about helping out around the house. He is our dishwasher, but since I haven't been working the last two weeks..I have the pleasure of dishes. I figure that I can do the brunt of the work since he's the bread winner right now. Jeez...I also think i need to buy the Off-Kilter CD after hearing you all talk about it! I love loud music!
