As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

Please take a minute or two to thank an officer for his or her service if you can and remember those who serve everyday and those who have answered the final call.
Here in Alaska our Memorial Ceremony will be today so we will all be honoring the officers, local, state and federal, who have given their lives in the performance of their duties. We are very lucky that our state has not lost an officer for a few years now, but it can happen at any time and we all need to be aware. This poem regularly appears in our program and I wanted to share it with you all.
A Part of America Died
Somebody killed a policeman today, and a part of America died A piece of our country he swore to protect, will be buried with him at his side
The suspect that shot him will stand up in court, with counsel beside him demanding his rights. While a young widowed mother must work for her kids, and spend man long lonely nights
The beat that he walked was a battle field too, just as if he’d gone off to war. Though the flag of our nation won’t fly at half mast, to his name they will add a gold star.
Yes, somebody killed a policeman today, in your town or mine. While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors, a cop put his life on the line.

There is usually a big ceremony in Albany for this event. There is a nice memorial at our State Capitol for those who were killed in the line of duty. My Uncle, Dad and brother-in-law are all police officers. I'm thankful everyday for the service they provide to keep our communities safe.
Thank you to all of our officers. Especially the ones in m community who are currently working our 3rd major fire in 10 months. They are out there making sure the fire crews can do their job while evacuationg the residents! Thank you!

Well, just an update on the Alaska memorial. Our ceremony was very nice. We had a Native Dance group come and perform. The mixed formation of local, state and federal law enforcement was present, of course. The Troopers brought in one of their newest patrol cars - a Dodge Charger - WOW, that is not a cop car I want to see in my rear view coming after me! Alaska has lost 59 officers. Odd piece of trivia {probably only relavent to me - } - three of our slain officers were killed on Oct 26 (of three different years) which so happens to be my birthday. After the Final Roll Call, a local bagpiper played Amazing Grace and the military performed a 21 gun salute (goes right through me!). Then the buglers played Taps. The echoing version of Taps just tears me up. I can never listen to that without the tears starting! All in all a very nice ceremony that just helps to keep the memory of these brave men alive in our memory and hearts!

I am very touched that my fellow Passporter's are remembering our LEO's. My DH is a Law Enforement Officer and each day he leaves I tell him just how much I Love Him, just in case this is our Last Goodbye. It may sound a little morbid, but this is something that I have accepted since it is his Duty. During 9-11 he was not there in New York for the initial, we were in Virginia and he was in a Special Tactical Unit in the Services. His Unit was called to D.C. that afternoon and then onto NY to help the Law Enforcement. Some of the stories were bone chilling. Since then he has gotten out of the military and he has become a FLEO.
So, everyday we are thankful for what we have and the Country in which we live...
As a Law Enforcement Family, We Thank you for remembering.
