As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

My husband and I will be taking our first trip to WDW alone this December. I am not sure exactly when we will be going because of work, but it will be either the beginning of December or if I can manage the time off, Christmas week. My husband really wants to take me there on Christmas so we will be shooting for that timeframe.
I need help on ideas for romantic things. This has been a very trying year (and it is only through the first month - YIKES) for our marriage and I really want to be able to make this trip especially memorable. I am the Disney fanatic, my husband wouldn't go there except he likes to make me happy!
He is an exceptional man and I want this to be very special for his sake. He is always trying to make me happy and since our problems are especially hard on him, he deserves to have a great time.

It's usually so crowded for the Christmas/New Years weeks, all the decorations are up and it feels so holidayish throughout all of Nov./Dec. why not keep it romantic and go at a less crowded week.
We went the first week of December and stayed at WL. It was truly a Christmas dream come true. WL is a romantic resort, so is CSR. But our favorite is Boardwalk. There are lots of nightime activities there and that's romantic enough for us. Do you know where you will stay? The carriage rides at POR are really romantic. Try to book a dinner at California Grille during fireworks. The Impressions DeFrance 20 minute movie is really romantic for my husband and I - breathtaking places!
Christmas week is the most crowded time of the entire year. Its not uncommon for parks to close early in the day because they are at capacity.
Since you have a choice, I would aim for the beginning of December. All the Christmas decorations are up and the crowds are low...much better for romantic time together and unwinding.

If you can manage, a ride on the lagoon to see the illuminations or wishes would be romantic... or you could walk on the beaches on grand floridion or another hotel by the water and watch the show there (strolling on beaches ar always romantic, no?)... Carriage ride is also lovely @ POR, How about dinning in your hotel room? or Victorian Alberts? Some people think dinner at cinderella's at night is pretty romantic also. You could also do a couples spa day at grand floridian spa or saratoga. If you want to drive a bit, there's a town called winter springs a little bit away, it's a lovely town that I've heard about (and plan to go in march) that is quiet and you can stroll around the strips window shopping or the park that they have. I hope this helps!!
I would say try for dinner at V&A. Maybe do the couples spa thing at GF or Contemp. But really if you set your mind to it anything can be romantic at Disney, from a ride on TOT to a ride on the tea cups. You just have to sit back and think out side of the box on it. Dose your hubby like to golf or into NASCAR...you can hook him up with that. What about DiveQuest or something like that? You can have a gift basket there when you get there. Depending on where you stay you can give him breakfast in bed a few days....well really where you stay dont matter toooo much you can always go and get it and bring it back to the room. Have you thought about something like renewing your wedding vows? It is all about thinking outside the box.
I would aim for the beginning of the December, as the crowds will be much quieter.
As for things to do, I can recommend the sleigh ride at Fort Wilderness - it's really fun and lovely to see all the Christmas decorations there. Don't miss Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party if you're going in early December, as that's a lot of fun.
Other great things to do include dinner at the California Grill and La Nouba by Cirque du Soleil.
