As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Why I will never be voted Miss Congeliality
With the posts about bad habits and such it got me to thinking. Insert blonde joke here. That I have way too sarcastic a nature to be a "good" girl. There are so many times I would love to blast someone clean out of the water on here. Of course in real life I just do it. Part of the why I will never be elected to public office reason either. People don't want reality it seems. All that messiness and such. *can't you just see the real goody goodies saying that?* I mean how boring would that be?
Now I know that sounds awfully sarcastic and almost down right non Disney for a Disney lover but it's how I feel.
I am not a bad person. Just a different person. I hold doors open for people. I smile at people when I know they are having a bad day. I helped push a car out of a ditch that was stuck today and got muddy and fell down and busted my knee for my niceness. I give to charities. I don't pick my nose. I respect my parents even though I am not a big fan of my mom. I am good to animals. I don't cheat or steal though I have been known to tell a white lie or two but those were to keep from hurting someones feelings. But I do have a few of those really bad habits. I smoke. I won't apologize so bite me if you don't like it. But also I don't smoke around those I know that are allergic. I drink. Not to excess (ok well occasionally). I cuss like a sailor. I am short tempered. I am sarcastic as all get out. But I am a loyal if not fierce friend. I forgive but I NEVER forget.
I just wondered I guess are there others out there like me?

Ohh, Ohh pick me, pick me.!
I work in health care so I have to behave myself and watch what I say, every now and then there will be a good "gafaw" come out of my room and a patient and I will be laughing like idiots at something that anoother would be offended by. But I know who I can be like this with.
Just because someone swears like a sailor, and hey sometimes a good "blamo" really drives the point of the story home, or smokes, or finds sarcasim to be their choice of humour, doesn't mean that that can't be the same person who would give you the shirt off your back, or "break a knee" for a stranger.
I think it is different if you are intentionally trying to hurt or verbally attack somebady else, but we can't please everyone all the time.

Lori, I think we may be related. My BFF tells me I have no filter!! And at my worst moments I dont. I react and then regret. I am better now than I used to be. Im not mean, with what I say....DH says I can cut someones head off and they will smile and say Thank you. But I do have my down side. I also will "let em roll" if need be. I smoke way too much, i dont drink. Lord knows what that would be like! I suffer no idiots. I dont argue politics ( cause Idont know enough ) or religion. Thats just too personal. I give my advice often times when not asked.
I too am loyal and will have your back . But do not decieve or betray my confidence, or I will be the lawn mower and you will be the grass!!

You wouldn't be a Virgo by any chance??? Like mrsmac2001 stated, " I forgive, but don't forget." No one, and I mean NO ONE ticks me off and gets by unscathed!!! Perhaps too many years of being trampled on has led me to be so callous and unforgiving!?!!?.................
I'm very similar. There are times I read something on a board and just don't respond because I can't REALLY say what I want. Sometimes I'll write a response and then not post it - I erase it.
I'm opinionated and I'll argue my case forever. I drink, but not to excess. I did drugs in high school, and my kids know it. I had a kid in high school, and my kids know that too. I've done a lot of things I'm not proud of. I'm a loyal wife, a loving mother and a devoted friend. But I have a temper and I'm not always kind in telling it like it is.
Oh - I could go on and on. But - here's my thought, Lori, All of us are who we are NOW because of the mistakes/problems/lessons learned we had earlier. If I HAD liked the movie "Titanic" - I'd not be who I am today. If I hadn't gotten pg. at 16, done drugs, etc - I'd be a totally different person.
I LIKE me. I'm happy I did everything I did, good, bad and ugly.

I think a lot of times those that speak their minds (like me) get an ugly label. Well I will wear it proudly. I have never been nor will I ever be a sheep. I may be a leader (as most Aries are) but never a sheep. Yes I know an Aries is a ram. We are also a fire sign. Rise up and be counted!
