As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

HI as ya'll know I have a two year old, Allie, well she started going to church nursery two days a week for the socializing aspect. Well she is sick every time i turn around. Should i keep her in this fall or take her out. I don't know what to do but a little girl all the time is better then a sick little girl every other day. She goes in the morning when I work two days a week but i could quit but it would mean less fun things like WDW. thanks for your help stephanie
How long has she been going there? It seems like there is an adjustment time when the kids all share germs and build up immunities to each other and the various germs. If possible stick it out a little longer, doctors say that it builds their immune systems and they are better off in the long run.

Hey Stephanie! Sorry to hear Allie has been getting so sick from nursery school. Does she get fevers and have to go to the doctor quite often, or does she just have "day care croup"? If she is getting sick and having to go to the doctor quite often, I'd first raise my concerns with the nursery school director. If that doesn't change anything, then I'd try to find another caregiver (YMCA, maybe?). If it's just a perpetually runny nose and cough, it really is up to you. I know Moms that have kept their kids in day care centers and the kids was always coughing and/or had a runny nose, and after awhile it did stop. But it's tough to say - do they clean the toys every night? Is there something that she could be allergic to (dust mites? mildew?) Do they have a strict sick-kid policy and if so, are they calling parents when they see an illness? Are they making sure that the kids wash their hands before snack time? Ultimately it is your decision, but if you don't feel comfortable leaving here there, then try to find another, more suitable child care center first. Only if you can't find an alternative and if you aren't happy with the health concerns would I say quit your job. The socializing IS good for her, but what socializing can she do if she is always sick, you know??? finding a good solution!!! Let me know how it works out!!

Amy took the words out of my fingers! But when both my kids started preschool the first month they were always sick, then after a month it evened out. But I started giving DD a bath right after school every time to help ease the nose congestion. And that might have helped too.
I work in a day care and see this all the time! Normally its just an adjustment her body needs to make then she should be fine. I truely believe that children need to socialize with others their own age, they learn so much for each other!
I have been kicking this idea around myself. Our DD is only 12mo. but the
pre-school that I want her to go to has a waiting list so I would need to get
on the list soon for 18 mo or 2yo. It's really for the socialization skills
but I'm really concerned about the germs. My DBF has her two kids in
a pre-school also and they are ALWAYS sick.
Good luck in making your decision and while I know we have to "let go"
sometime....it's tough!!!
She's used to the germs at home - the germs at school will take a little to become immune to. The good thing is: the sooner she gets immune to other germs/viruses, the better. The bad thing: she'll be sick in the interim.
It's your call, you need to do what you believe is right. Maybe a talk with the pediatrician would help you?
If you don't do it now, she will miss so much of kindergarten when she starts school. A friend of mine is a kindergarten teacher and she says she can tell which kids have been at home all the time which ones were in pre-school or daycare by the ones that get sick all the time.
My three girls have all been in daycare since they were each 3 1/2 months old. With each one it took a bit for their immune systems to adjust and they would often come home with little colds, etc. As long as it's not a constant fever, vomitting, trips to the doctor, it really isn't that big a deal in my mind. Kids are going to encounter germs, they are going to get sick. If you don't expose them, they have no chance to become immune to germs in the environment. I'm happy to say that my 6 year old only missed one day of Kindergarten this year due to illness! I believe a big part of this is because she has a great immune system due in part to her years in daycare/preschool.
Another thing you might want to consider is that it is allergy season. Perhaps there is an allergen that your child is affected by that is prevalent at the church nursery. I know we're dealing with allergy issues with our youngest right now as she seems to be constantly sniffling, coughing, congested, etc.

I would leave her there and let her get use to the new germs before she hits school age. All kids are different, my dd was in daycare from 6 wks old and was rarely sick and my neice stayed home with her grandma and was alway sick so you just never know.
