As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I'm thinking about redecorating my office in a Disney theme using Mickey colors. I'm thinking bright pale yellow walls, white trim and black furniture and red accents. I found a company that makes custom self sticking stencils in a variety of fonts including Walt Disney Script and am thinking about having some of my favorite Walt Disney quotes made in to stencils and stenciling them in black on to a large mounted canvas that's painted red, putting it in a black frame and hanging it on one of the walls in my office along with any Disney prints/poster I pick up as well as my Disney pins in/on some sort of hanging display. I think the red accents would be my desk chair, curtains, and some smaller items such as a garbage can. What do you think? Has anyone redecorated a room in Disney? If so which room and how did it turn out? I'ld love to see pictures too.
How exciting! It sounds like you have put a lot of thought into this. One thought for something different might be to do white walls, but then paint one wall in Mickey red for a punch of color. Then you could accent with Mickey yellow and black as you were planning. I hope you will post pics when you are done!
Sounds great!
We've done a bathroom - black and white ceramic tile in a checkerboard pattern, large striped black/white wall paper, Mickey through the ages - type border, but in black/white/gray, and then we hung some Mickey sericels in there - colorful ones, in black frames, with a small white curio cabinet on the wall opposite the mirror, full of red/yellow Mickey and Minnie collectibles. A Mickey Stained Glass window my mom made completed the look!
Also have done a corner of the basement - all of the sericels and lithographs I have collected over the years, plus some old Disney albums covers - all framed in black and hung on a Mickey red wall. Then, shelves with lots of WDW souveniers, and all of our Mickey Ears hat hanging from the ceiling. Plus, the large "Pit-Pass" type tickets they used to give out for Disney movie premeirs are hung from the ceiling. And, a gray/black Mickey rug from Disney.com on the floor, under the pool table.

Hmmm. I like that idea. I might just modify it a little. Keep the other walls yellow but a very pale almost white yellow and make the wall with the windows (1 wall has 2 windows) a bright red and hang a second smaller version of my quotes wall hanging above the windows. The one above the windows would have the quote, "Here you leave today - and visit the worlds of yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy." on it as this is the wall you see when you walk in to the room. I might change the curtains to a bright yellow or white if did this unless I could find red fabric that cam close to matching the color on the wall. The following are the quotes I'm considering using (in black) or will be using (in purple) and are from.
From “The Quotable Walt Disney” published by Disney Editions copyright 2001 by Disney Enterprises Inc.
“Fantasy, if it’s really convincing can’t become dated, for the simple reason it represents a flight in to a dimension that lies beyond the reach of time.” pg. 249
“Why worry?” pg. 263
“I have a great love of animals and laughter.” pg. 184
“Laughter is America’s most important export.” pg. 175
“Our heritage and ideal, our code and standards - the things we live by and teach our children - are preserved or diminished by how freely we exchange ideas and feelings.” pg. 173
“There is more treasure in books than in all the pirates’ loot on Treasure Island and at the bottom of the Spanish Main…” pg. 155
“Why do we have to grow up?” pg. 129
“Happiness is a state of mind.” pg. 118
“Fun and wonder are important elements,…” pg. 110
“Here you leave today - and visit the worlds of yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy.” pg.62
“To all who come to this happy place: Welcome. Disneyland is your land. Here age relives fond memories of the past… and here youth may savor the challenges and promise of the future. Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams, and the hard facts that have created America… with the hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all the world.” (on opening day) pg. 52
“I only hope we never loose sight of one thing - that it was all started by a mouse.” pg. 41
Teresa, your bathroom and basement corner sound amazing. I would absolutely love to see pictures if you can post them and are willing to share.
I think that sounds awesome! I did my office in an AKL theme. My valance is even fabric from some of the pillows in the lobby! (total accident). I used Wallies in the animal print squares and cut some into "hidden Mickeys", plus some of the animal wallies to coordinate. Used an art glass light and ceiling cloths a' la Boma and accent pieces from the gift shop there. I am in here several hours a day and LOVE it. I also have cork squares that hold my pin collection and several other Disney touches. I've just ordered an expression from Uppercase Living (I'm a demonstrator for them) that says "Dream no small dreams" (not Disney, but sure could be!) and "Keep moving forward" underneath it. I'll take photos once I get it done and up.
The views and opinions expressed on this post are mine and do not necessarily represent or reflect those of The Walt Disney Company and Affiliated Companies
Dawn - Can't wait to see your AK office. You're right Dream no small dreams could definitely be a Disney quote/saying. That's funny about the fabric. Talk about a happy coincidence.
I'm thinking of getting 1 or 2 of Ikea's Vika Manne/Vika Curry Table to put in my office to use as sewing/craft table(s). I would be getting the dark red/red. I don't like the look of the red table top with silver legs. I found these items in the childrens' section and am considering getting them also. The Ikea's Mammut 3 drawer dresser (red/pink) and Ikea's Minnen Toy Box would add storage and color and look/feel very Mickey's Toontown to me. I'm thinking about replacing the current overhead lamp with either Ikea's Smila Moln ceiling lamp orIkea's Smila Sol ceiling lamp. I think either one would give it that extra touch of whimsy/fantasy.
Sounds great! I've done the bedroom downstairs in Disney. Black furniture (Mickey headboard and nightstands), and I've got the Mickey Tiki bedroom set. I'm just finishing painting the walls a green, and then I'll be ready to post pics
Our bathroom was inspired by our stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge. It is a soothing caramel-beige, with leopard prints, black and elephant accents. We love it!

I love your choices! This is going to be one awesome room! I really like the Smilia Sol ceiling lamp. That is so cool!
Stefanie's bedroom and bathroom are princess themed. We bought the Behr's paints at Home Depot that specialize in Disney colors. Her bedroom is two shades of violet with an accent wall that is the darker shade. These are called Wave of the Wand and The Clock Strikes Twelve. Her bathroom is pink, Fairest of the All. She has princess rub on on her desk and above her window plus lots of princess knick knacks. Her bathroom as the lithographs that came with our pre-order of Cinderella framed in black, plus princess and Tinkerbell towels.

We have Disney accents all over the house and Mickey in our bathroom. The most elaborate makeover we have done is the 100 acre woods bathroom for my daycare kids. DH painted a mural on the wall and we have artwork, accessories, rug, drawer pulls and shower curtain in Winnie the Pooh.

Luke's room is Buzz Lightyear themed - 'alien green' walls (Behr Disney colors) with a Buzz border, comforter set, curtains, lamps. Brooke's room is 'princess pink' (again Behr) with Disney Princess comforter set, curtains, toy box, lamps and numerous other accessories. My home office is Mickey themed. I love all your choices and can't wait for pictures!
I think I've decided on paint colors thanks to Behr.com. I think I want to go with colors called bicycle yellow and tomato red. I think I'm going to do the wall with the windows red and the others yellow. For the quote the larger piece the background will be red with (I think) a yellow border and black frame the smaller piece above the windows will have a yellow background with (I think) red border and black frame. I wonder if I could find some cute Mickey print fabric to make curtains out of.
