As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

People at work send a lot of non work related emails- jokes, prayers, etc and it kind of gets on my nerves- I dont mind the jokes so much but the chain letter things ( you know, send it to 5 women you care about, those things) really annoy me- I dont always know the reason for the email so I always ope them - its such a waste of time- am I the o nly one who feels that way? Do you find them annoying?
Yup, I find the chain mail type of emails very annoying. Especially the ones that say something will happen if you do send a certain amount. For ex: if you send this email to 20 people you will see the taco bell chiuhuaha dance across your screen. I would get lots of these from one person, doesn't that person realize after the first one, that it doesn't work?
IMHO the chain ones are a type of virus, so I don't forward them on any account I have. Also, it can be a way for people to get a lot of valid e-mail boxes for spamming.
funny you should post that - I was getting ready to post about the same thing- sort of.
I take notes for my Anatomy and Physiology class on my lap-top. When people are sick, I'll send them my notes. (I have a rule that I will only send them 2 or 3 times in a semester - I had someone take advantage of me typing the notes last sememster, and she decided she didn't need to come to class at all - anyway, I digress).
So, I've sent them to a few people who now "Mass Mail" me all those cute little stories - usually religous themed or patriotic themed ones that spout things I don't agree with, or ones that tell me I'll be killing innocent people if I don't send it on to 25 of my "Closet friends" - heck, I don't have 25 friends, let alone close ones. Unless I count ya'll, and I really can't see me doing that. I'd get banned - plus, I'd be very, very embarrassed to have been part of that.

I dislike the chain letters and the prayers. This kind of email can be sent to my home address where I might have the time one day to actually read it.
Most of the folks I'm close to at work feel the same way, so we don't send each other silly, time-consuming e-mails. My parents and Luke's though seem fascinated by them, but also don't seem to notice that we simply delete them without reading them. They have more time than we do, so I think it makes them feel in touch with others.
I generally don't bother to open them and when I do I jsut delete them. I have someone who will send these chain letter ones... and the one you have to answer questions, One question might be ... who is least likely to fill this in and pass it on. and she will put my name and then still send it to me. argh!!

Add another one here that gets fed up with them! I don't mind the occasional joke or uplifting one, but the chain letters are for the birds! I usually just delete them.

Another one that's all for an uplifting note or joke here and there.......but the chain letters died to me a long time ago.
I never fully understood why people would forward these things with everyone's e-mail addys in full view-did they not understand the privacy risk they were putting their so-called friends into? I always wanted to do my own mass-mailing that said "ever heard of blind carbon copy??!!"
I find that sort of thing very annoying. I seem to be a perfect person for all kinds of weird offers. It's odd, as my e-mail address clearly implies I'm not a man, but I still seem to get lots of offers aimed at men...
