As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

My favorite Bath & Body Works scent has been discontinued. It's called Night Blooming Jasmine and it actually started out as my WDW foo-foo scent way back in 2002. The last couple of years, I started using it outside of WDW, but smelling it still reminds me of Disney...plus, I just love the smell of jasmine and get a lot of compliments on it.
I learned of the discontinuation back in November and a sales associate recommended I try the after-Christmas sale as they bring out their overstock. I did visit a B&B on the 27th and walked out with 20 lbs of Night Blooming Jasmine. Hopefully, by the time I run through these 7 bottles of lotion, 3 bottles of body wash and 3 body sprays, I'll have found a new scent.
I always seem to choose the stuff that ends up getting discontinued as my favorite - whether it's a flavor of chips, a perfume, a color of nail polish - I'll fall in love and then they'll pull it off the shelves.
Ever liked anything a lot that got discontinued? Did you look like a crazy person buying up all the extras like me?

I loved a particular version of the coconut lime verbena body spray from B&BW - in the frosted glass bottle.... they got rid of it. Luckily I had 2 bottles left - and have been refilling with the less foo foo spray they have now in the plastic bottle.
I love the ginger orange shampoo and the mandarin lime body wash... I will cry when they discontinue that...
Everything I love from B&BW gets discontinued!!! I loved the headache roll-on thing they had, the essential oil roll-on (calming, stress relief, etc.) they had, Lemongrass Sage, Festive Pomegranate, and too many others! They had brought back some "classic" scents a couple years ago and Lemongrass Sage was one of them so it has been popping up here and there. I grab it whenever I can! I now have a whole shelf of B&BW things I love! Dang those semi-annual sales!!! The prices are too good to pass up! I wish I had known about them BEFORE some of the things I loved were discontinued! I hope I can find more Twisted Peppermint lip gloss and body spray! They are just like candy canes and the spray is SPARKLY!!! It is so childlike but I LOVE it!

A while back, my absolute favorite perfume - Hypnotic Poison by Christian Dior was rumored to be discontinued. The only place you could find it would be at big Dior makeup counters in major department stores. So, pretty much now, every time I'm at a major department store, I sniff out the Dior counter and buy the biggest bottle they have. I've got about 4- 3.4oz bottles under my bathroom sink, and I'm always looking to stockpile more. I did notice that it's starting to make a comeback at the regular perfume counters at big department stores, so maybe it's a good sign that it's going to stick around awhile longer.
Scarlett - one thing I've noticed about B&BW is that even when they discontinue certain fragrances, they typically bring back something that usually smells pretty similar, just with a different name, within a few years. Case in point is the new scent they have called Sea Island Cotton, which smells 99.9% identical to this old scent they used to have called "Sun Bleached Cotton."
I love Jasmine based perfumes! They are always my favorite. I think Burberry has a scent you might like....the original Burberry London. Scents are so personal, though...hard to recommend one!
Kate Spade had a signature fragrance for awhile that I just loved! After hitting every store in town last year trying to find it, I learned that it too had been discontinued.
Oh CRAP, Scarlett!! That stinks (literally)! The same thing happened to my MIL from B&BW! but her scent was some sort of cucumber melony thing. She still bemoans the loss of it! Everything B&BW makes me break out in allergic rashes all over, so I can't use their products. But I, too, the jasmine scent. Have you tried The Body Shop? My favorite Jasmine scent.... it's divine! Go give it a snifter if you've got a store out there! But in the meantime: The Body Shop
Anything MB makes seems to make me swoon, but this one is especially good (and it doesn't make me break out all over!) It's scrumpt-diddly-umptious!!!
Oh, and to answer your question... the only thing I have fallen in love with and lost is Treasure Island, a craft store in NJ. Well, it used to be in NJ. They closed their doors two years ago and I STILL am heartbroken. Now all we have is Michael's, and I'm sorry but... they aren't nearly as good. I still shed a tear for TI. Stoopid store. Closing and every thang. Jerks. Oh, I make myself laugh. And yes, I realize I'm the only one who gets the joke. You get like that when you lose your mind.

Discontinuing happens to me often. I loved a honeysuckle body wash and lotion from Victoria Secret bcak in the 90s and just recently B & B came out with a similar version, so maybe yours will return when sometime in the future.
That's happened to me there before as well. I've gone onto ebay to see if I could find the scent and wowza's they had some on there, but the S&H was outrageous since the stuff was so heavy.

Years ago I was obsessed with a perfume from Victoria's Secret called Freesia. I bought 3 bottles I loved it so much. Naturally, it was discontinued the next time I went looking for it.
I was really upset when the spas at WDW stopped using Jurlique. I love the stuff and always tried to buy it while I was there. Now, I have to find it on-line

My sister still morns the loss of Toasted Hazelnut from B&BW. I am so fickle I have a hard time being loyal to one scent. Although Coconut Lime Verbena is one of my faves right now.
