As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

A local radio show that is broadcast in Texas in the morning has a segment called, "Does that make me crazy?" Listeners call in and share their wierd compulsions and the hosts of the show vote to decide if the caller is indeed "Crazy".
I have several compulsions when it comes to traveling.
1. Even if I don't get much sleep the night before I leave on a vacation I have to clean my whole house so I come home to a clean house.
2. My last night of any trip...no matter how late, I have to find a guest laundry and do all of my laundry so I don't have to take home suitcases full of dirty clothes. (Sometimes the guest laundry is being used or closes at a certain time and I am grumpy all the way home knowing that I will come home to mountains of dirty laundry to do!)
3. Within a few hours of returning home, I am completely unpacked and suitcases put away.
I can't be the only person out there who does insane things before, during and after traveling. (Or maybe I am! LOL!) I know this makes me crazy and I would love to know what makes you crazy!
I just finished unpacking from our August trip today. We've been home about 2 1/2 weeks.
I do other crazy things, though. I wash my hands about 50 times day - seriously. I go through a bottle of hand soap about every other day all by myself. I used to work in food service, so clean hands became a hard habit to break when I became a mom.
Also, I can't sit upright in a chair - one of the main reasons I detest driving. I have to put my feet up either in front of me or to the side. I suspect it has something to do with either my knees or my back aching, but I never really think about it when I get agitated sitting up. I just try to find a way to get my feet up as fast as possible.
While I wouldn't say I clean the house, I do now make sure that I do the laundry as near to our departure as possible, after coming home once to an almost full laundry bin - how depressing was that and yes, add me to the "I have to unpack as soon as I get back" group.
it took us a week or so to unpack...but only because there was a hurricane in the gulf...once we knew it wasnt coming we unpacked....
and i did clean my house before i left. and we did do the laundry before we came home.... and im crazy most of the time..so i guess that makes me like the rest
I try to clean the house as best I can, because yes, I don't want to come home to a messy house. I also try to get the suitcases away as soon as we get back (have done that many a time after our Disney trips)!
I too clean the house before we leave. I clean even if we're just gonna be gone on a long day trip! I usually don't do the laundry before coming home and I do take a while to unpack, buuuutt I did call the kennel the last time we went away to check on our dear Taco. It was his first time in a kennel and he has issues whenever he would be away from DH

Add me to the list that cleans house before I leave, I also put clean sheets on my bed before I leave.
On our last trip in May, that was the first time I have ever did laundry on vacation, but we had the DGS (4) with us, so for his sake we did laundry....
I always take my own pillow.
I take my electric hot water pot, so that I can have my morning cup of tea, along with my English Breakfast tea, splenda packets and Land O'Lakes No Fat Half & Half. This time I think I will even take my Minnie Mug or buy one downstairs in the Shade of Green Shop.
I ususally unpack the next day, but Grumpy is unpacking when we get home.
We pack one suitcase with the dirty clothes and that goes directly to the laundry room when we get home.
My make-up case stays packed, it is packed now and ready to go
I, too, clean the house before I leave. I don't usually do laundry there, but I should - I hate coming home to loads of laundry! I usually unpack immediately but there have been times where my suitcase sits for a day (or a week) and it really irriates me.
I have tons of little crazy things. I wouldn't even know where to start. Most of them are total contridictions (I do not like cheddar cheese on salads, but I like it on pretty much everything else. And so on.).

Cleaning fanatic here too! I also put clean sheets on our beds. My DH thinks I am nuts, but I don't like coming home to that. Another one of my obsession is dirty dishes in the sink and I have to have my dishwasher empty before I leave on vacation. glad to see I am not the only one!
Add me to the clean the house B4 I go brigade. I also wash sheets and iron pillow cases(to make it more appealing that first night back) before I leave. I am a meticulous packer and my DH finds it funny that when returning home I pack by throwing all the dirty laundry into one case and pack the others neat and secure! I MUST be the last one to leave the hotel room upon checkout just to triple check if we left anything there.
My other crazy habits include checking the boot/back seats of my car for strangers before getting into it at night(never during the day), also I check and recheck the door is locked and the iron is off(even if I haven't used it that day), I always look in the fridge when I'm bored-like it has all the answers. If I buy one child something I will not give it until I have something for each of them- I know this isn't teaching them well but it is a hard habit. My last crazy habit is I cannot read a book from start to finish , I must read the last page first then start at the beginning.
Wow I'm a real nutter! Very scary!!!!!

Melissa - We agree on several things. I never travel without my own pillow! It is the last thing I put in the suitcase. I can sleep just about anywhere if I have my pillow. I always pack my tea bags and splenda. My day needs to start with a cup of hot tea and if it's cool I like another cup before bed. I also always pack a suitcase with dirty clothes. In fact if room allows I put an empty suitcase in th bottom of the closet and use it as a hamper.
The make-up case thing is my DMom and DSis. They both always have one packed and ready to go. I tend to just fill zip lock bags when I go.
I do all the things you do, Clean the house, do laundry, and always put fresh sheets on the bed. I like to return home to fresh bedding..
Yes, I always unpack and do the laundry when we get home too
I must be crazy!!!!!!!

Kylee, I read the end of the book first, too. My reason is morbid. I'd hate to start a book and die in the middle not knowing how it ends. So I read the end first.
