August Passporter Scrapbook Challenge*Featuered Layout picked* - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Sounds good, I have a WDW trip that I'm working on that has some pool pages needing to be done. I am determined to not post the last couple of days, this time.
Thanks for posting the subject of the August (I can't believe it's Aug. already!!!!!!!!!) challenge, Marcie! We appreciate your comittment!
Just thought of something you all may not know. I was thinking everybody knew but was talking to someone (Vicky maybe?) last week and realized you may not all know. (I'm trying to boost our August challenge layouts with an incentive to scrap...) If you are selected as the feature layout person for a particular month, you'll get a PM from me and I'll make and send you a title of your choice of word(s) and color, cut on my wishblade. (I cut out the disney looking font and weld the letters together. They are so adorable!) Come on folks, lets see some layouts posted.
Also, I started this free give away (via Marcie) a couple of months ago, so if you are a past winner who I contacted and you haven't PMed me your title and mailing address yet, get 'er done! I start teaching again in Sept. and would like to make them before I start again!!
Happy scrapping, everyone! (Now, I'm off to work on my own layout to post, to set a good example!)
Well, since I slacked off in July, I thought I'd jump right in and post for the August challenge. These pages are from my first completed album - which of course, I didn't get to keep because I was making it as a gift. I have a thing for giving away all my completed projects! So anyway, these are some of my favorites:
This layout is about how we used the hot tub as a diving board:
This is just some more pool fun and the left page is about playing a boys against girls
volleyball game:
This is about how hooked we are about finding shark's teeth on the beach - my Mom and StepDad have a huge collection - around 2000 teeth in all.
Sorry these pictures are not the best - I took these a while back before I had done a lot of posting

Wow, thanks for posting all of those. It gets me motivated to scrap. I peeked at them yesterday and went off to finish the pages I was working on so I can start thinking about my pool layouts. I think the splashes are my favorite, too. Did you design that free hand?
Thanks for the comments - I like the Splash page best too!
Michelle, I did do the Splash page freehand. As I was looking over all my pictures, I noticed there were quite a few of everyone jumping off the hot tub - most everyone was trying to catch a ball. None of the pictures was great but the whole assortment of them was pretty neat together. And then it looked good too, with the pictures of "Uncle Beefcake" (my DBIL) doing the handstands and flips off the side off the hot tub into the pool. After I cut out the splash shapes of the people jumping in, I realized that I had a lot of empty pool water that I could use to make water splashes to accent the page.

Beautiful pages, Karen! I also love the splash one. Man. that looks like it was a lot of work but well worth it. Love the bright colors on the other pages too. They look so sunny and summery. (is that a word?)
I also love the colors on the shark teeth pages. What did you use for the letters in the title? (I think it says searching) It looks very cool.
Karen, I was inspired by your bright colors and attempted to do my layouts with them. But, my love of muted, vintage colors foiled my plans. You know what they say about old habits.
Anyway, I have been waiting to scrap these pictures of Kiara playing in the hose in our backyard. I could do an entire album of pictures of her playing in water, as she is so obsessed with it, but these are my favorites.
Underneath the picture on the first page and on the left corner of the second page I used clear microbeads and some little gems. This is something I haven't done in a while and now I remember why. Those little things go everywhere and make quite the mess!!!!
The word Water was done with chipboard letters that I inked and Kiara painted. I then used a clear ink and an opal powder to emboss them.
Nala - love the Water Baby page! It's nice to know that sometimes I can inspire you because your pages are always so awesome! The bright aqua blue goes nicely with your other muted colors! I love the gems and sparklies - also the embossed letters! Are those paint chip (or as my kids used to say - paint chimps) samples under your journalling? What a clever way to use them! You could probably do a whole book of Kiara water pages - I bet that would be really cool!

Thanks Marcie and Karen! And yes, Karen, that is a paint chip. I swear, one of these days I am going to be banned from the Home Depot for stealing paint chips! I sure hope they never get rid of the Disney ones with the Mickey heads!!!
I hear you on the Mickey paint chips, I was there last week for some samples.... they paint guy was wondering just how many kids rooms I was going to repaint..... hee hee. I wonder if the M chips days are numbered because there are ALOT of other Disney paints on BORING rectangular type chips???? But I do love the colors in your layout, and the beads are fantastic! Sara
