As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Our trip is coming up soon, so several days ago I bought some new shorts. While trying them on, I noticed my legs are whiter than sour cream. So, I bought some tanning lotion. I recently remembered I had bought it so I put it on for a few days. Well, I wore my shorts yesterday, and I looked down at my legs.
AHHHHHHHHHHH!
Down around the ankle area and back heel area is MUCH more tanner than the other places on my leg, making me have the most ridiculous uneven tan! I think the reason this happened beacuse around the areas that are too tan are my excema infected areas. I've been putting my excema cream on too, but maybe the combination is fatal.
Do any of you have any advice on how to treat this... erm.. tanning lotion mishap?
Crazy as it sounds - lemon juice will often lighten up over-tanned areas. Just be sure to use fresh lemon juice. I cut a lemon in half and just rub the half fruit all over the dark spots. (My knees tend to get much darker than everything else during the summer, so I've used this trick a lot when I use self-tanner and still get a little natural sun on top of it.)
I don't have any advice for you, but I hope you get it straightened out before your trip.
Tanning lotion sort of freaks me out - I can't get my head around putting something on my skin to make it a different color that doesn't come off right away.
By Sunday most of it should have faded away. I always but lotion on before the self-tanner and then try to avoid the dry areas (knees, heels) as much as possible. I'm another white legged gal. The rest of me tans, but not my legs, so self tanner it is!

Mineral oil also works well. Next time you apply, make sure you exfoliate really well, then put on lotion (before application). However, your self tanner should be pretty much well gone by Sunday.
I actually have never had a GOOD result from a self tanner. After many disasters similar to the one you described, I tried a spay tanner from a "famous maker" last year. I figured it would go on much better than using my hands which always left streaks somewhere. At some point I caught a look at my legs in a mirror and saw what looked like a bad spray-paint job . This year I decided to try the kinds of self-tanner that are supposed to give you a "glow" over time. Well, I glowed alright, in patches.
I am almost resigned to lily white legs.

I've tried the lemon juice trick that Chrissi suggested, and it worked for me. The ankles/knees and other drier areas soak up more lotion, so they can come out darker.
My 13 yr. old daughter just tanned the heck out of herself 5 days ago. She must've been rubbing that self-tanner into her legs for 10 minutes because although she washed her hands immediately after, her palms are a deep brown/orange and it did not come off with lemon or any of the other tricks we found on the internet. She was so mortified she wanted to stay home from school. Her feet are still a dark brown and streaking up each toe. She's been taking showers, soaking, scrubbing, praying and so far the palms have recovered, but not the feet. She's in gym shoes until this little fiasco gets rectified. I should have sympathy but she took my self-tanner without my knowledge and used half the bottle of gel in one day! No wonder it won't come off- it's darn near permanent!
