As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

I got a membership to my local YWCA three years ago, and have pretty much gone three days a week since then. It was a reasonable yearly rate with free childcare, and certain classes available for free. Last year they did a big renovation of the place and since then it seems like the CEO has lost her mind. First she cut free back on the free childcare hours from 9 - 12 (supposedly to save money, but they were only open until 3 pm during the school year anyway) so I can only utilize about 10% of the free classes. Then she had us begin paying for the childcare (I pay $2 an hour for one child, and $5 an hour for the second child, 2 hours at three days a week means an extra $168 a month to my membership), the gym facility that I used to love was renovated, yes, and it is very nice but the Y can't keep employees and we've lost two directors since I've been there. The staff is over-extended and underpaid and drop like flies - I don't even know the names of the current staff. To boot, this expensive new renovation they just underwent flooded with all the rains, in the basement where, of course, the brand new childcare facilities are placed. Several of the Moms came together to write a letter to the CEO about our complaints, but nothing has been addressed or changed and several members have left. I'm getting fed up with the nonsense, and looked at the other Y that is near us and while their facility was much better, their childcare was AWFUL. They also don't offer any free classes for even the most inclusive membership. To boot, my 3-yr. old is very sensitive and doesn't adjust well to new environments easily, and he has found very good and comfortable relationships with the people who runt he daycare at my current Y.
So what would you choose: the Y that you've been going to where you have to pay more and get less but where you can trust the childcare facility, or go to the nicer facility where you pay a little less but the woman look like they are running a labor camp instead of a cheerful play place for kids??
It might seem pretty clear, but I'm in quite a pickle because I really don't know what to do.

I would look for another gym with free childcare altogether. Sometimes they'll give you a discount if you're already a member of another gym, but you're shopping around.

My gym does the same, free childcare, as long as you are in the gym. I don't know what, if any, other limits there might be. Some of the tv monitors around the workout area are tuned into the child care area so you can "peek" without the child seeing you! I've never seen any child having a fit going in, but some are coming out because they don't want to leave!
Most YMCAs are part of a larger YMCA system. (In the Philadelphia area, there's an "umbrella" organization that all the sub-YMCAs report to.) I'd try escalating your concerns *as a group* to the organization higher up. If you still get no response, I'd suggest CCing your next complaint letter to the "consumer" reporter at your local news station or paper.

I would shop around your area to see what else is available (ask friends where they go, etc), and if there isn't anything else, then I would stay w/ the Y you're in but do what Eileen suggested and send your complaints to a higher authority.

I am in agreement with the other posters. If you have to choose between the 2 YMCA's, though, I would stay where my little one is the most comfortable.
