As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

ok, gotta jump on this one. I am a nurse. I hate it when I ask someone in report how a patient is doing and they tell me 'they don't have a temprature'. (they mean fever) If they don't have a temprature they are DEAD!
This happened to me this weekend when someone called before they came to visit:
Person: Do you want me to bring you something to drink or something to eat?
Me: Not really, I'm fine.
P: Are you sure?
M: Yeah, I'm fine, don't bother.
P: Well, I just ate so I'm not hungry but I wanted to make sure that you were all set.
M: Yup, just fine.
P: Are you sure?
M: Mm hmm.
P: I can bring you over something, I don't mind, you just need to tell me what.
M: Honestly, P, I'm all set.
P: Well, do you want me to bring you a surprise?
M: [exhausted] Sure, bring a surprise.
P: Well, what kind of surprise do you want me to bring?
M: Honestly, nothing is coming to my mind, I need nothing.
P: Well, if your brother was here I'd ask him, but....
[couldn't hear rest of sentence because I threw the phone into the couch and pounded my feet into the floor, DH starts yelling that no one who is making me that upset is going to come over, picked phone back up]
P: Oh, DH is doesn't like people over, does he?
M: No, it's fine, just come.
This was all while the Person had an unbearable case of laryngitis. Basically, it peeves me when people don't listen to me. Later when she was here she'd ask what I needed for the baby. When I told her, it wasn't the list that SHE wanted and kept making other suggestions.

Actually, even dead ppl have a temperature. Everything has a temperature!
OK; here's speech pet peeves for me:
newcular (nuclear)
realitor (realtor)
I love Condalesa Rice, but the fact that nearly every other word is "uh" drives me nuts! She's incredibly intelligent, but needs to learn to present her ideas better.

Those get me, too! That and leaving the 'ly' off of adverbs. "He did really bad", "Badly, it's an adverb modifying how he did". Two more: "Can I...?", "I don't know, are you physically capable of...?" and "Can I ask you a question?", "Yes, and now you MAY ask me another." Sorry, it's that college grammar class I took from Mrs. Colonel Klink that put me over the English teacher edge...

Right now my pet peeves both come from my boss. We just had the end of our fiscal year and he continually calls it physical year. The other one from him is when he says pacific instead of specific. He spells it that way too. I get notes all the time that says I need the pacific information on that. Drives me nuts!!
Because I live in Missouree not Missourah!! This totally depends what side of the state you are on. At one time one of the people running for Governor had two commericals, one for each side of the state.

I had a boss once that used the phrase "touch base" all the time. Except that he would say it "touch bases." As in, "I just wanted to touch bases with you..." I didn't think much about him using the plural of base (maybe he hit a double? ) but I noticed he used it in emails a lot too and spelled it like "touch basis." I then realized that he had no idea it was a baseball metaphor. Everytime I'd read, "I'm trying to touch basis with John and..." I would cringe. He also used the word "past" incorrectly, as in, "I'm sorry to report that Ricky's mother past away." Of course, grammar mistakes in general get on my nerves.
I also can't stand it when people feel the need to tell you, unprompted, that you look tired. It's just another way of saying you look like poo. In college, there was this one cafeteria worker that, every day, when he'd see me, he'd be like, "You look tired! Around the eyes!" And I'd be like, "Nope! Feelin' good! Just woke up from a 4-hour nap!" But he kept saying it, until I finally lost my cool and ended up yelling at him, "STOP SAYING THAT. THIS IS JUST HOW I LOOK. IT DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER, OKAY? I'VE ACCEPTED THAT AND SO SHOULD YOU."
Lastly (well for this post ), and I'm sure this has been previously discussed here, I hate it when people try to convince me that Disney in an evil corporation and they only care about making a profit. While I don't think they are any more "evil" than any other corporation, I'm okay with them wanting to make money. That's sort of the point of the business, and I don't think they've ever tried to pass themselves off as a charity or non-profit, ya know? Just a couple of weeks ago, this lady in my office went on and on how it was SO WRONG that they market to children. I was like, yeah, just like Kellogg's and Nabisco and Tyco and Flintstone Vitamins and Ford and a zillion other companies, right?
This guy I knew in college wrote a huge paper all about how Disney is an evil corporation. I read it and he was like, "What do you think?" I said, "Yep, sounds about right." He's like, "So you don't like Disney anymore?" "Nope, I still do." He didn't get it. I said, "They're a business, they provide a product and a service that I happily fork over money for. It's not like it's essential - if I don't have the money to buy something from them, besides being sad, it's okay. Why don't you write a paper about prescription drug companies or something, ya know?"
Here in Michigan it seem everyone adds an "s" on the end of store names. Look at the sign people...it is Meijer and Kroger NOT Meijers and Krogers.
My mother also walks out of the room when you are asking her a question or are in mid sentance. I only see her twice a year so it isn't that big a deal (but it still drives me nuts!)

My boss also says "physcial" instead of "fiscal" he says "stchuff" instead of stuff
I have people that write "$ One Million Dollars" which reads as One Million dollars dollars
People who tell me I have been to Disney World too many times, this really irks me, I did not know I was only allotted a certain number of times or I am asked "why would you go there???" when you can go to the beach???? well I live at the beach and I do go to the beach every weekend......
