Forums Closed

As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

A question for the ladies
Have you been able to stay friends with your exboyfriends?
I have one from college who comes and goes from my life - I love him dearly and probably always will - but frankly that's not enough. I would not have the career I have had we stayed together and I think I got the better end of the deal.
He called me at work today (tends to call at the end of the day - out of the blue)and wanted to "chat". I am always leery of this - since the last few times have been when his relationships have blown up in his face.
So - do you have an ex you are "friends" with?

Yep, I still talk to my old high school boyfriend. Of course, he's my oldest DD Samantha's father (he let DH adopt her when she was 8, the hardest thing he's ever done, he says)
Samantha and I have gone and spent the weekend with him and his family in Tampa, and all DDs and I have spent a week with him and his family in WDW.

Some yes, some no...
My very first boyfriend & I remained great friends after we broke up & he was always there for me & vice cera.. we sort of HAD to be friends as both of our last names started with Ra so I sat in front of him in lots of classes in high school.. I think at one point we considered going out again once we were older but realized we didn't want to lose the friendship.
I also dated my Aunts brother (Aunt IN LAW!!!) & that was a big mistake because after I broke it off with him, my Aunt was sort of cold to me.. today, when we run into each other we have a great time laughing & reminiscing.
My Ex DH & I have had the worst relationship .. I really admire people who can divorce & stay friends.. unfortunately, I wasn't one of them.. too much hurt.. To this day, when I run into him I try to avoid talking to him at all costs. .where he TRIES to make conversation with me.. AND he even still calls my Aunts & uncles "Aunt" & "Uncle" boy does that irritate me.. (yes, after 14+ years it still bugs me)

Not really. My HS bf's current wife doesn't like me (get over it!) and my college bf lives overseas and was really kind of a nasty jerk anyways. When I moved in with Wally in 2001, it meant that I'd be moving in next door to the guy WHO RIPPED MY HEART FROM MY CHEST a few months prior but thankfully Wally's a grownup and we all survived the 4 years we were neighbors. Before Wally and I were married we broke up for a week and the ex and I went on a date, and there I discovered I was past the point of no return with Wally. [img]/ubb/images/graemlins/iloveyou.gif[/img] I saw him a few months ago at a show, it was very awkward and I wish it wasn't. Good luck dealing with your ex, Terri!

Not really. I dated my DB's best friend for a while so I see him sometimes. It's fine and my DH knows we dated. I haven't stayed in touch with any other ex's.

Nope. I really only have two. One from high school and one from college. I haven't seen the one from high school since 1990 (don't even know where he is). The one from college I haven't seen since 1993, but I know where he is (actually about an hour north of me).

I have one that I trade e-mails with occasionally. He has a lovely wife and two beautiful sons. He was a nice guy so I'm very happy for him but that's about it.

Actually I have two:
My ex-boyfriend Dominick calls out of the blue a few times a year (usually in the early morning because he forgets about the time zone difference [img]/ubb/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif[/img] ). He lives in Germany now (US Air Force). We had a bad break-up. He promised me he was going to get out of the AF and move back to the states but he reenlisted without telling me and never moved. Needless to say the relationship went south. He wanted me to drop my life and move to Italy where he was stationed...ummm...I don't think so! At the time I was a full-time student with my own apartment…I could not just drop everything and move. It just wasn't meant to be. It is nice to talk to someone who knows me really well. I love Dominick as a friend and that is it. He has disappointed me too many times to hold on to any hard core feelings of love.
Ken is the second. He and I dated for a short period of time. Ken is very sweet and it is nice to be able to pick up the phone and call him (balling my eyes out) and get his opinion on whatever woes I have. Ken also LOVES Disney World as much as I do although we have yet to hook up and take a trip together. I was never in love with Ken when we dated but I love him now as a friend and that is as far as it is going.
