As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Ok so everybody thinks I am crazy! I love WDW! I plan, plan and still plan even more. I day dream at work about palm trees and The World Showcase. I have started to not talk about WDW to anyone because they are all tired of it. I can't wait for our next trip, Dec of this year and I still think about our last trip Dec. 2000.
Suzy Q'Disney, I can't remember if I ever welcomed you to the PassPorter Message Boards... Welcome!
Well you don't have to worry about not talking about your feelings here! I think a good percentage of us here are "Disney Nuts." Any time you have a desire to talk about Disney, WE WILL LISTEN!!!!
Around here I think they just block me out anymore!

HAPPY PLANNING! &
"Remember the Magic!"

Take Care, debe-nj
I too am really obsessed with Disney. I do not go a day with out looking at one of the many Books I have on Disney ( PassPOrter Included) I even just pulled out one form 1982 to look and compare all the changes that have taken Place. And what it used to cost. I talk Disney Often at work, my Work Computer used to be Disney Webshots but Our Computer Guys took that away from us when they upgraded our Computers. Look to Passporter to get your DIsney Fix. Your in Good Company here.
My family and co-workers have pretty much written me off as a "freak." They cannot understand my love for Disney. (Probably because most of them have never been to the magical World before!)
They can call me whatever they want -- I don't care, 'cause I LOVE DISNEY! THEY are the ones who are really missing out, huh?!
To get my "fix," I check the boards/the Disney site, my Passporter, and when I am at the bookstore -- I spend my time in the travel section perusing all the WDW travel guides. (P.S. Passporter IS by far the best, though! )
Happy planning to you, fellow Disney Lover!
All Ears
Everyone thinks I'm obsessed too! Even my DH, who loves Disney told me by the time we go to WDW, I'll be tired of reading and planning. Never!
I had my Passporter at work and was talking about our upcoming trip in July. A friend actually said to me that there are better things she could think of to do with the money I'm spending on my trip! She's a single mother of three, so she probably doesn't have a lot of extra funds. I thought I better not talk too much about our fun planning to her anymore.
Gotta go plan some more!
Laura
Hi, my name is Shelly, and I AM a Disneyholic. However, I am NOT looking for recovery!! <grin> It's so great to be here among others of "my kind". My family, too, just doesn't "get it". They think that because I'm going in NINE days (after waiting an agonizing NINE years) that I'll be "over" this fixation when I return!! Ha!! Again I say Ha!! If they only knew that I have already begun secretly plotting HOW I can manage to get back again soon!!
Do you think they have Mickey Prints on the "padded walls of the cells"?? I imagine they'll be "Committing me for my own good" soon!!!
Obsessed fan right over here
I didn't think that I was going to be going back for at least another year or so, but when I found out about the teacher's rate at the Swan and Dolphin, I decided that it was obvious that I just had to go this summer. I mean you just don't pass up a special value, right? So, in the middle of a beach vacation, my sister, niece and I are going over to get a little magic the first 3 days in August. Since deciding to go, I have been obsessively planning and dreaming, dreaming and planning. I carry my Passporter and Birnbaums Disny everywhere I go and read and reread about the places I want to see and the things I want to experience. I am TOOO excited. I'm not sure I'll make it 3 months +.
Kat
Yeah, that's a true Disneyphile alright when you are planning your next trip at the same time that you are planning the current one. That is the only thing that can get me to leave when the dreaded "last day" of the trip arrives, I have secretly planned for the next one!
My family thinks I am nuts. Before, we used to go on regular family vacations to various places but since 1983, the only place that I want to go is WDW. Since I am the one who does the planning and earns the $$ (my husband is a writer....)I am the one who decides where we will go.
Ok, I guess you will have to add me to the list of the obsessed!! I have been planning our next three trips to WDW since Oct. (our first was in Jan. as an xmas present to myself, I mean the kids). We are going in June and also in Nov. I do have to say, however, that my family is very supportive since they are also obsessed!!
I have been very fortunate to have lived and visited several other countries. And I will probably do more world traveling before it is all said and done. But ever since we went to WDW last year, I have been absolutely hooked.
But I am lucky because my husband loves going there too. He has his own obsessions (Motorcycles), so we are trying to combine them. We are thiking of a motorcycle trip to WDW next May.
But I too am planning furture trips before we even go on our booked trip this Oct. We are going back next year, probably in Sept. of 2002, with our kids and my Mom. We are planning this motorcycle trip AND possibly a big family reunion in 5 years at WDW.
It is really great to have others to share this enthusiam with!!!
Just because I'm 28 1/2 years old and will be making my 30th trip to a Disney property doesn't mean I'm obsessed. It just means that I don't deal well with change, and that my folks created a monster....
Just because I told DF that the 2nd bedroom in our new apartment is the 'Disney Room'; and he freaked because he thought that meant I was going to go BUY stuff for the room... I'm not obsessed it just means I have good taste, and if that his line of thinking, I'm taking advantage of it while I can
Just because after our first date, I asked my girlfriend who set us up what my DF's last name was, and she said 'Potts', and I laughed hysterically, and said "if we get married I'll be Mrs. Potts!" and we ARE now engaged, doesn't mean I'm obsessed!
Ok, may be I am, but if I'm going to be Mrs. Potts, then I have every right to be!
Hi Suzy,
I cant get DisneyWorld out of my system.
It would get me to come on down and work for Disney.
I am planning on going to DisneyWorld next month by myself.I am going to run around and let my intense feelings run scott free.
I am glad that there other people around who the same way I do.
My wife doesnt want to move to Lake Buena Vista and I cant make her.
Jerry
