Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

The Disney World...Clean Sweep?

Has anyone here ever done every attraction at Disney World's 4 major parks in a 7 day span? I don't know if it's a real thing or if it's pretty much impossible, but that's just the way my mind works, always scouting for new challenges .

If you were coming up with the rules and stipulations for a feat like having one of each of the seven day of the week in succession to see every attraction of the 4 main parks, how would you define it?

I think that it would mean having to go on every ride, attraction or live show that is not down for repairs or renovation. I would exclude character meet and greets, like Ariel's Grotto, and also exclude things you have to pay for, like the Frontierland Shootin' Arcade. I'm not sure how I would rule exhibits, like Mickey's Country House, Conservation Station, or Sea Base Alpha, as you could spend all day there are not see everything it offers, but just stepping a foot inside also isn't doing too much...

Whadduya think, how's this gonna go down? Would you be willing to try such an event if you had a week at WDW with no PS' to make and no one to make you go on It's a Small World five times ?

Re: The Disney World...Clean Sweep?

Watch it you feathered friend!!!.... What's wrong with "It's a Small World?"

I think it could be done except I would have to decline the challenge. I WILL NOT go one any of the rides that go in circles, simulator rides & often do skip the 360º movies as I get extremely dizzy (now DH says I am always dizzy but that is his opinion )

Are you planning to take on this challenge?

Re: The Disney World...Clean Sweep?

I could give it a try...but I really don't think I could do RnRC, as I have a fear of upside down. Do you want me to give this challege at least the old college try? There are some things that I have NEVER done at the parks (teacups at MK, RnRC at MGM, Tarzan Rocks at AK).

Re: The Disney World...Clean Sweep?

Leave it to Joe to think up another challenge!
I think it could be done, but boy it sure does exhaust me just thinking about it...
Joe, are you considering this challenge for yourself or are you looking for others to take it on? Or both?!

Re: The Disney World...Clean Sweep?

Now Joe, I like the way you think. I have been asking myself for many years if it would be possible (if you had a lear jet at your disposal), to ride one ride at all 4 Disney Parks around the world in a 24 hour period. Ride one ride, get on the plane, head for the next destination, ride one ride...etc. Now, If Disney wants to try this, I would be more than happy to volenteer...

Re: The Disney World...Clean Sweep?

Depending on the time of year you go...this is definitely do-able... and now that they have fast-pass (which I haven't had the chance to try out yet) I would think it would be even more so. Of course I have yet to visit AK yet... so I could be wrong.

Frankly, I don't LIKE all the attractions at the parks I've been to. There are some I'd gladly skip...like Tiki birds..blech... Now that I will be attending for the first time with my toddler...there will be certainly be lots of things I don't get to go on....but that is why we are bringing to grandmas along with us to help out.

I admire your spirt of challenge and adventure, however.

Re: The Disney World...Clean Sweep?

I vaguely remember a few years ago hearing about someone who did it in less than that amount of time. I believe he was Russian and had CMs with him. He did all the attractions and all the stores. Anyone remember this or am I Officially Insane?

Re: The Disney World...Clean Sweep?

Teresa,
All I remember about that is it was from an episode of the TV sitcom Step-by-Step when Cody wanted to take the title back from the Russians, and from what I know, it was fictional and is a rumor, although I would definitely like to have some evidence on that

Re: The Disney World...Clean Sweep?

Joe, you find us an eccentric wealthy person to finance the trip and I'm with you all the way. We need to stay in one of the monorail resorts of course. It would be no sweat - be there at rope drop stay til they run you out. Let's go! mary

Re: The Disney World...Clean Sweep?

I think I'd opt out of this one -- sounds too much like "Martha Stewarts Disney vacation". I can't master this feat in LIFE, to say nothing of VACATION! (Trying to get all three kids on time to each of their scheduled weekly activities). On vacation I want some pool time and the option of riding Splash Mountain all day if I want to. But ya'll have fun!

Re: The Disney World...Clean Sweep?

Hey Joe--

Seven days? Now, that's a lot of time. I could do all the rides, two water parks, at least one sit down per day and have time left over for a relaxing trail ride at Fort Wilderness!

However, that's assuming that it's only me doing this, and there's no one to hold me up. Normally, I don't go to the shows, and having ridden all the rides there at some time or another, I get selective (Tower of Terror, many of the 360 movies, most of the shows and some parades)

I think a clean sweep would have to include going on each of the rides and pavillion movie, exploring all the Epcot pavillions (how much time is up to you), going to at least one show at each park (may be hard to schedule the Studios shows), eating at one major restuarant and one viewing of a major fireworks display or parade. Maximum time allowed would be seven days, but like Phineas Fogg, the least amount of time you can do this in the better. Any other park/attraction visited (i.e. Pleasure Island, Typhoon Lagoon) would be worth extra points.

How does that sound?

Re: The Disney World...Clean Sweep?

Wow, I was completely surprised that so many thought such a feat can be accomplished!

I really can't even imagine trying to do all the rides, attractions, restaurants, nighttime shows, water parks, and DTD stuff, even in a month! Well, I can imagine, in my dreams . That could be a whooole nother thing! Given a week, actually, hmmmm, just doing all the rides and attractions at Disney World is something I'd do anyway; cause I regret not getting around to a particular attraction(s) trip after trip sometimes .
