As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Refrigamorators.....
So I just added a fridge onto my CBR res (woohoo!). I'm all prepared to go grocery shopping when we get there, but - how much does it hold? For instance, will it hold a whole gallon of milk, or only a half gallon? Although ... I bet I could just get a half gallon and then if we run out, I could fill our mugs with milk (can you do that?) and just refill the carton... I'm not sure what else we'd want in the fridge... a couple cans of emergency coke maybe, a little fruit, and probably just leftovers from whatever restaurants we go in.

Re: Refrigamorators.....
It is just a mini fridge like the college kids use. If I remember correctly it could hold a couple of sodas, a couple of waters, and a quart of milk(carefully) tilted.
It looks similar to this: MINI and I do mean MINI fridge
Good luck and happy planning cause you will need it for figuring out how to cram everything in there. I saw it and i wish I had an engineering degree.

It doesn't help.
BTW, I understand now that the mini-fridge actually comes standard with the rooms; specifically witht he CBR's, as I thought someone else posted on here.
Chances are, you did not even need to order one (as I did in May for my November trip) as it will be included anyway.
Cheers.

They will be standard in moderate and deluxe rooms by December. It's probably a good idea to order them if your vacation is before December -- just in case. Once they become "officially" standard, then I'm sure Disney will not charge for them.
I found that I could get a 2-qt box of milk in the fridge - but I did much better buying the "juice box" types of milk for our stays, since they don't require refrigeration. That way, some of it could remain outside the fridge and only what I needed for the next day would be cooled down in the fridge.
I have usually been able to keep about 12-18 juice boxes in the fridge at one time along with about three to four bottles of water.
Have a great trip
Eileen

Re: Refrigamorators.....
They are free right now at CBR..but they are still on a first come, first serve basis. We don't have enough right now for EVERYONE so you would still need to request them.

Re: Refrigamorators.....
When and how do we request them We are staying at CBR 10/13-10/23 and thought we needed to make room for our 5 day cooler. If we could get a fridge that would save on buying a roof rack for our car but if no fridge and no cooler that would not be good

Re: Refrigamorators.....
Add a request for a fridge on your reservation now. When you get to the resort, the CM will see you requested one and will have one sent to your room.

The fridges cost $10/day, so that might be cheaper than the roof rack!
You're going at a slow season, so it's pretty likely (although not guaranteed) that you'll get the one you reserve by calling CRO and having it added to your reservation.
When you check in, just ask the CM about the fridge and they'll send one up to you when you get to your room. (Usually comes within an hour or less)
If for any reason you can't get the fridge, just drive over to Wal-mart and pick up the cooler once you're in Orlando and have room in the car. No need for the roof rack and cooler to cause "air drag" for the car and cost you more in gas!
Good luck!

Hey Kelly,
I added one when I made my reservation in May; I just wasn't sure if they were standard yet or not.
Glad to see you're back Kelly! We had been concerned regarding your welfare after you disappeared following the hurricane.
Hope all is well for you and your family.
Cheers!
PS Did yo uever see the PM I sent you?

Re: Refrigamorators.....
I just called to see about getting a certain location at CBR and was told to call our AAA agent who booked the trip. However, while on the phone I asked about the refrigerators being in all the rooms or else getting them free and she said not that she was aware. So at this point I will be bringing a collapsable cooler in our suitcase. But it was worth a try. Not I need to email our agent about a preferred location since I have walking issues.
Glad to see you back Kelly!!

I also talked to Disney today and asked if I needed to request a fridge for AKL in Nov. I was told that refrigerators would be standard in all the moderate and deluxe hotels, and I did not need to request one. I hope she was right!

Re: Refrigamorators.....
Hi...we are just back from a great stay at POFQ. 4 days before our trip I faxed a room request to the resort that included a request for a refrigerator.
We had a dorm size fridge in our room--no charge--plenty big enough for 10 juice boxes, water, small container of milk, pudding snacks and fruit cups!!! Very cool!!!
