As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Woot woot I am coming home!
Back story to this trip....
In 2013 I became a widow very unexpectedly (this was a mere 7 days after I lost my father to cancer) I was stunned to say the least. Life was a spiraling mess!!!!
Thank goodness for family and friends! Then while on facebook months later, I accepted a friend request from Ron, a guy I dated steadily for two years in high school. We talked online for months then on the phone a couple times. He was a widower and understood where I was in life. We decided a few months later to meet up for dinner and catch up on old times when he came to town as he worked and lived in another state. Well, we met for dinner, talked until we literally closed the restaurant and set another date for the next night. It was like time just fell away and it was once again41 years ago. Unbelievable this connection we found that we still had! After dating for 3 months he asked, I said yes, we told our families, they were supportive so we decided to get married. Now we are going to be a pair of 60+ year old newlyweds on our honeymoon and I could think of no other place to be than Disneyworld to celebrate this new chapter in my life, correct that in our lives. He has since moved back to this town but commutes an hour each day each way to work (that is surely love). Looking forward to having a great honeymoon and creating magic to make our dreams all come true.
Now here is the biggest part: He has NEVER been to WDW ever! Unbelievable to me really. Never met Mickey Mouse, never visited a single park. Nope he has never been to any Disney Park anywhere. Boy is this gonna be fun to introduce him to the big cheese and all the magic of our world. Looking forward to showing him the best places to eat and sleep in the world. I am giddy at the thought. Taking the "Romance" ideas out of the mix as that is not what I need help with, I would really like advice on what would be the best way to introduce an older adult to WDW without overwhelming them with the size and scope of all things Disney as at this time he doesn't understand the hold it has on me. It has been many, many years since I was new to the world and so I have forgotten what it is like to be new to it. I have taken a child for the first time 9 years ago, but she was 4. I am looking for advice from others who were recently new first timers ( as in less than 2 years ago, or have taken some other adult for the first time in the past few years, how did you plan, what did they seem to enjoy most, what did they not care for, this is a man who is 60 and has never been). Thanks for planning help. I don't need advice on dining by the way, he and I are both foodies so nothing I plan will be an issue as for dining. I am especially wanting advice from any males out there who can give me advice. He is leaving ALL the planning to me so I want to get it right!!
Information about him that might help you help me plan: He is an electrician/mechanic. He has a very analytical mind as for engineering details. He likes working with his hands, fixing things, remodeling, says he likes planning and growing things/landscaping. He says he likes to fish (or has in the past), he used to ride a cycle so motorcycles interest him. He owned a camper and a boat years ago so those are interests (but neither or us want to camp at our age so we booked Bay Lake), He likes animals of all kinds, sitting outside in nature and gentle walks/hikes, but he has a very light stage of emphysema so he can't do really strenuous outdoor hiking or biking activities). As I said he is a foodie and likes pretty much any kind of food. He enjoys dark lager style beer and his other beverages of choice are espresso, soda, and an occasional glass of Woodford Reserve Bourbon. He likes action type films and he is not into roller coasters at all any more. Ok so with all this information, guys please help me plan things for this trip to not only introduce him to Disney, but make it not be just a smushy honeymoon but a trip he will enjoy, remember and want to return for years into the future! Thanks!!!

Reason: clearing up misconceptions about the advice I need for planning

I'm so glad to hear things have worked out for you guys and how wonderful to be celebrating your honeymoon at Disney. We did, and we absolutely loved it!
Wow! It sounds like you two were meant to be together!! How lucky that you "re-found" each other and what fun to share WDW with him for the first time!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!
Congratulations, and happy planning! I've not taken someone to the World for their first time since I took my DH for his 30th birthday (20+ years ago). And then there were only 2 parks, MK and Epcot.
With what you describe, I'd definitely suggest doing some tours - Behind the Seeds comes to mind, and maybe Keys to the Kingdom?
Have you thought of doing a big splurge and having dinner at Victoria & Albert's? That seems a great honeymoon thing to me, especially for a foodie!
Have fun planning!!!
I like the idea of keys to the Kingdom, Behind the Seeds and Wild Animal Trek. Thanks for these suggestions! They are very helpful ideas, I knew this is the place to get good ideas.
