Coronado Springs - please help me feel great about this! - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Coronado Springs - please help me feel great about this!
*sniffle*
So we had to downgrade the resort. In a nutshell, it turns out that due to some recent car troubles, we have to rent a car for our vacation. Our entire trip (we have another stop before WDW) will be 10 days, and we'd need a mid-size car. So that's nearly $400 that was unexpected.
We were already starting to feel just a little pinched (let's face it, I have ADR's out the wazoo, lol), so we decided to go ahead and downgrade from the Wilderness Lodge (sob) to Coronado Springs. The move saves us $600, and just makes sense, even if it SUUUUUUCKS! Our discount didn't apply to any other moderates for our travel dates, so that's how we came to decide on the resort, btw.
Sigh. So. Tell me how much I'm going to love the Coronado, ok? I'm feeling a bit droopy about it all.
The only moderate I've ever stayed at (we usually always stay deluxe--Contemporary or Beach Club) is CSR. We liked it so well that's were we're staying in June. It's a beautiful resort and now that the rooms have queen size beds it absolutely perfect for our family. I think you will like it.
I just saw the other thread with photos of the resort and the renovated rooms. Wow. Just wow. I'm feeling a little better about it, reading all of the amazingly positive reviews. Thanks so much for the feedback! I know it's going to be great. It's just hard when for months you're geared up for one place, and then you have to rather unwillingly switch.
ITs a nice place to stay. We stayed there our first trip to WDW. We were close to one of the bus stops, and had direct transportation to every park and DTD. I think the only time we went to TTC was when we went from EPCOT to MK. We liked the Pepper Market enough that we visited it again when staying at another resort. Hey, you are at Disney, and how much time do you really plan on spending in your room. Enjoy the parks..........
Thanks very much all! I'm feeling good about things again. Considering we almost cancelled the trip altogether, lol, I have zero room to whine. It's just disconcerting, especially after all of the round-and-round-and-round we went before settling on WL.
Ah well, now I have 6 weeks to get entirely revved up about the CSR! The photos are stunning, and I hope that we can get a redone room.
Thanks everyone for reassuring me and listening to me whine a bit!
Theming down to the details are great there! I've never stayed, but visited my brother's family quite a bit when they stayed there back in 04. I love the southwest and the architecture, and Disney didn't disappoint. We only went to a quiet pool, so I can't comment on the theme pool. But my nieces and nephew LOVED it, and they're planning on staying there again this August. With the recent renovations, I think you'll enjoy it!! (BTW, Buzz2001's website is awesome!)

We were there a couple of years ago and I'm bein honest I really didn't like the resort believe it or not I rather be at pop then there. Sorry to say but lots of people like the resort so you me too
Was there last week, for a moderate it wasn't bad.....we were in Casita 4 which was close to Bus Stop #2, a quiet pool and great access to parking lot......it was a short walk to El Centro for food and drinks wished it was closer in the mornings when I needed coffee.....but it is beautiful, the people are friendly, the queen beds are great, the TV are small.......can't wait to see what the rooms look like once they are renovated...
It all depends on your perspective ... we were upgraded from AS Sports to CSR and were in absolute heaven the entire time!!! It is a wonderful place with great rooms.
We have stayed at the CSR seven times and have already booked #8 for next September. Truthfully, I've no desire to stay at the WL--it's beautiful, but we are not outdoorsy and just doesn't suit us. We've stayed at the Poly and the Contemporary and we still PREFER CSR. We always request Casitas 4 or 5--it is about a five minute walk to the main building, El Centro, and about an eight minute walk to the main pool. Casitas 4/5 are close to the quiet pool, the spa/fitness center, near a bus stop I believe (we rent a car as we hate relying on Disney buses). We especially love it because it is peaceful and serene and you don't feel like it is ever crowded (this is one of the reasons we don't like the values--too crowded and noisy). It is a beautiful resort and even more so at night when the sun goes down and the lights are reflecting off the lake and the fountains in the courtyards of the Casitas.
As far as getting one of the renovated rooms, Cabanas 9B is complete--but t hese are strictly Club Level rooms. Casitas 1, 4th floor is completely renovated; they are currently working on Casitas 2 and 3 on the 4th floor only and Cabanas 9A. The best suggestion I have is that you ask for Casitas 1, 4th floor. However, realize it is just a request and not a guarantee and you will probably be asking with at least a hundred other guests. If that is not available, I would ask if you could get a room with the queen beds (most of the rooms have the new queen beds; however, there are about 100 rooms that don't have them and still have the two doubles because we understand they are being converted to a king bed).
Any questions, feel free to PM me...I will try to asnwer them.

We love Coronado! We have stayed there twice and will be staying again in 19 days!!! It never seems crowded and the resort is absolutely beautiful!! The pool is great with the pyramid and the playground and we especially love the hammocks in the sand!!! We had to downgrade too due to some unexpected plumbing work!! We were going to stay at the Poly but had to change and decided on Coronado as we have stayed at POFQ the last several times just wanted a change!
I hope you love it!
