As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

HI guys,
I am planning our first family trip to Disney World in October (my husband and I went 11 years ago in October for our honeymoon). We will be staying on Disney property at Port Orleans for one night and Kidani village for 7 nights. My children are ages 9(girl), 8(girl), and 5(boy). I wanted to plan a fun character meal for our kids. I made a reservation for Mickeys Backyard BBQ because I thought my 5 year old would enjoy getting up and moving around as opposed to sitting down for 2 hours straight. However, I have been looking at not so great reviews for the BBQ lately.
Would you recommend the HDD over BBQ? I have seen the HDD myself and had a wonderful time but am worried that my kids would not understand the humor of the show and not have as good a time as I would.
Do you think I should skip a dinner show all together since it is our first visit with the kids? We are planning to take afternoon breaks each day and at least one day off from the parks in the middle so that cuts down our in park time throughout the week so skipping the dinner show would let us go to another park that night.
Are there any must sees that you would recommend for kids our ages?
Hoop over Backyard BBQ. There isnt much in the way of character interaction like you would get at a real character meal. Better to book Chef Mickey's or something in that nature if that is what you are looking for. Backyard BBQ may just end up aggravating your child.
We haven't done the BBQ, but really liked the HDDR. I liked it because it is inside so no matter what the weather does... the show goes on.
I don't know how much coverage there is with the BBQ, but I think it is open.

I love the HDDR and would tell you to go--it is the quintessential Disney experience, but it is not really a character meal. If your kiddos want to get up close and personal with Disney characters I would also plan for something like Chef Mickey's or Garden Grill.
HDDR is a family favorite!! We've never tried the Backyard BBQ.

We did BBQ in Sept 09 my DSs were 2 and 4. I would not do it again. Food was so-so, character interaction not great, people rude and pushy, hard to dance with characters. Not an enjoyable experience to start off our vacation.
I love HDDR way over the BBQ. The show is fun and interactive, and the humor makes me laugh no matter how many times I see it. The BBQ was crowded, not overly organized. Not a repeat for us. :
I've never done BBQ but HDDR is for me a must every trip. There are no characters at the show just the cast
I would recommend both Chef Mickey and 1900 Park Fare for character interaction Garden Grill is another good choice But it would help to know what character interest your kids
