As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

The show started as normal with the players coming in and talking. Jeff welcomes them and tells them to take their name. They open the buff to find out what team they are on. Then Jeff tells them it is Millennials vs Gen X
Jeff asks who the youngest born in 1998 and it’s Will at age 18 and still in High School. He took time off from the school to do the show. Then a Jeff asks if anyone is willing to admit they are the oldest born in 1963. Paul raises his hand.
Jeff then tells them their first challenge is to collect stuff that is scattered in the jungle that they can use at camp. There are 2 table with choses on them one set has pots and pans or a hammer and the set has fishing gear or chickens. Both is Millennials and Gen X take the pots and pans. Then Gen X takes fishing gear and Millennials take the chickens. Has they are collecting stuff a Millennial grabs a bunch of stuff and runs off a Gen Xer (Jessica) finds an envelope sitting there and stuffs it in the back of her pants to look at later.
Jeff gives them their maps and tells them its cyclone season in Fiji. He tells them to make their shelters right away. They head to their beaches.
Millennials: The introduce themselves and mention what job they do and start on the shelter. A Bromance is starting between Taylor and Jay, along with a sismance with Figgy.
Gen X: Paul says these should be hard working people with core values and strong opinions. Paul tells the others that splitting the tribes up, it bettered their odds dramatically. Another guy says not to underestimate those kids since they grew up working with their minds.
Ken, who’s a model, says he spent time off the grid in Maui and knows the jungle and how to set up shelters.
Jessica says she will go off for bamboo and opens the envelope, Legacy Advantage: gives an advantage on day 36 of the game. It says if she’s voted out, she has to will it to someone else. She says she will be there on day 36.
Millennials: Jay, Taylor and Figgy are building shelter and notice the others have run off into the jungle and think they are look for idols. Alliances are starting to form.
Gen X: David doesn’t like the outdoors, not trees, sand, sun, water, but loves the game part of Survivor and that is why he is there. He is very paranoid and sees Paul with something in his hand and thinks it’s an idol.
Millennials: The weather is picking up and they decided to go swimming one is worried because the shelter isn’t finished and it’s getting dark. They finally get out and decide they better hurry and finish. They don’t and the rain comes and they don’t sleep.
Gen X: next day they get tree mail and a package. Jeff has sent them a temporary trap that has to be given back when the weather clears.
Millennials: they also get the mail and trap and as they are putting it on Jeff shows up. He tells them the weather is getting worst and has been up graded to a cyclone. They must be evacuated. They gather their stuff and leave.
Gen X: Jeff then shows up here and tells them the same. As they get their things together the wind picks up, and the push through to the boat. Jeff then told us this story on Twitter during the commercial:
“we couldn't leave anybody on the beach to try and film the storm. So... I asked our point of view guy Andrew if there was any way he could put a go pro on one of the beaches -- and just see if we might get lucky and catch a shot. He said yes but the battery would only last or a few hours... but he said if someone had an extended battery for a cell phone that he could hook it up to work with the camera our location guy Michael Glaser just happened to be walking by and said "I have one, I'll be right back!" hey got it hooked up, raced to the beach, set it in the trees and angled it on one shot... hoping. When you see the shot now you'll know that's the only way we got it. Our crew is amazing.”
It was cool footage, it was what you saw when the commercial was over. Jeff also said “We took each tribe to an empty room - they sat there all night. Silent. Producers watching over. They were great sports.” This was a question Jeff got and his answer: RT @8kidslater: @JeffProbst were they not allowed to talk or choose not to speak? NO talking, No eating, No bed, No nothing... #survivor
Gen X: next day they get back and a tree had fallen on their shelter. They get to work and rebuild.
Millennials: They get back and have to rebuild too, Zeke steps up and takes charge. He gets the job done and made fire. It’s great since he’s from the city.
Immunity/Reward Challenge: They will make choices at the front or back end of the challenge. They race under an obstacle to get a war club/ They can cross a tunnel or take a shortcut that makes it easier. The balance beam can also be done with a shortcut.
At the end they have to solve a puzzle. But anytime you use a shortcut, it adds 10 more pieces to the puzzle. Jeff says which group knows their strengths and weakness could win it.
Jeff was happy both tribe brought the traps back, the reward is flint for the challenge.
They start. They start to untie their clubs under the obstacle and the teams are fighting each other.
Chris is blocking Millennials from getting their last club. Gen X takes a bit of a lead thanks to Chris. Gen X moves to the shortcut course. They are all into the first obstacle. The smaller Millennials decide to go without it. Gen X is still in the lead.
Gen X decides to take the balance beam shortcut too. Millennials are still stuck and are falling behind. Gen X takes a bigger lead and they start the puzzle but with the most pieces. Millennials take the balance beam shortcut.
Gen X has 70 pieces and Millennials have 60. Figgy and Michelle work the puzzle for them. David and Rachel work is for the Gen X team but their lead is gone. David and Rachel swap out with Jessica and Sunday who try the puzzle.
The Millennial puzzle is coming together and Gen X finally make some progress. Millennials have just a few pieces left and they are done. They have won the first challenge and reward and Gen X will face tribal council.
The Gen Xers are stunned that they lost. Jeff tosses the flint to the Millennials too and they head off jubilant at their victory. Jeff tells Gen X that he’ll see them tonight at tribal council and someone is going home tonight.
Gen X: David scrambles because he is sure he going. There is talk of Rachel going because she blew the challenge. Rachel and CeCe talk, they know they could be in trouble. Jessica tells David to chill. They head to TC.
Jessica says the sand got in her eye and gave her a bacterial infection that spread to the other. David says “oh crap” when Jeff calls on him and they laugh and tell Jeff that David is scared of everything. David says he’s stripped bare and it’s transparent that he’s scared.
He says it feels like he’s been out there for a year. David says he doesn’t want to go home but knows he might be. He says he’s his own worst enemy. CeCe says being first out is terrible and she wouldn’t wish it on anyone.
Sunday says she loves David but they’re all there to stay. Jeff asks who worries it might be them and most raise their hands. Chris says it’s just paranoia and he thought he was on the outs on day 2 but decided to calm down and work hard and he feels better now.
Rachel says everyone was not responsive today and were pairing off and it was unusual behavior so she thinks she might be going home. She says she’s been up front and speaks her mind and people might think it’s mean or it hurts their feelings.
Rachel says she’s sorry if she upset anyone. Then Jeff asks about idols. Jessica says David got paranoid because they were looking at him for going off to look for an idol. David says he wants to prove that he can be trusted so this is a test. They vote’
David gets 1 vote, Sunday gets 1 vote CeCe gets 3 votes and Rachel gets 4 votes and she is gone.
Next week Romance blooms and someone’s time could be up, it might be a heart attack. SO till then batten down your hatches, it’s going to be a wild ride this season.
I didn't get to make a prediction on who would go out first, Sorry Marcie!
I was a bit disappointed they didn't show where they evacuated everyone to; although I am certain if was a hotel or some building.
I hope David finds his middle ground and is able to calm down a bit. He is likable. I really like Michelle, she seems sharp and hope she goes far.
As far as voting Rachel? I think they made a wise decision!
