As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

All four parks in 2 days
On our upcoming trip, we'll have two full park days. I originally planned a day for AK and a day for Epcot, but the kids really wanted to visit all the parks (partly because we don't know when we'll return). So, I'm game, but has anyone done this? I've got a plan of which park which morning or evening, and I made a list of must do's for each park, and extras for each park if there's extra time...any tips?

Wow - it sounds like you'll have a very busy time! My only advice would be to make maximum use of the extra magic hour parks and Fastpasses.

During our trip in November (3 1/2 days), we did 3 parks on our last full day at WDW. It can be done (and admittedly, we did have a great time), but it's not for the faint of heart. Unless you're taking your own car, prepare for a lot of time in transit (though the benefit of all that transit time is being able to rest [img]/ubb/images/graemlins/roflmao.gif[/img])
Needless to say, I insisted that we stay for a week this time [img]/ubb/images/graemlins/rofl2.gif[/img] [img]/ubb/images/graemlins/rofl2.gif[/img]

I just finished reading Melissa's (mestitch's) b'day recount where they visited 3 parks in 1 day. So if you use your EMHs and FPs you should be good! Good luck!!

It can be done, but will take planning. Like others have said, take advantage of EMH and FastPass. Make a list of the things you must do in each park. Just be prepared to be flexible and accept the fact that you may not have time to do everything you want.

Heck, you can do four parks in one day (been there, done that), but you'll be pretty tired and dazed afterwards. [img]/ubb/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]
Presuming you're staying on property, do as was suggested and maximize your Extra Magic Hours. If there's a morning EMH and an evening EMH on the same day, those are the parks for you (unless there's another park open even later than the evening EMH park). If you can't take advantage of EMH, then I suggest Studios for the first part of the day, followed by Epcot (easy commute between the parks saves time). And presuming MK is open late (if you're there in off-season, try to arrange things so you'll be at MK Friday or Saturday, which are always late nights), then AK in the morning followed by MK later in the day. If you're not hyper about getting a lot of attractions done, there's even time for a short break back at your resort. Nothing like a dip in the pool to keep you going and relieve some stress.
No matter what, be choosy about what attractions you'll do. Make sure everyone gets at least one attraction at each park that will put him/her in their "happy place." That way, nobody should feel cheated.

We did this in February and will do it again next month. We decided what the most important things were to us and did those first and if we had time, we did more. We used fastpass for everything and got up very early and went to bed very late. We were exhausted in the end, but obviously it wasn't that bad if we're doing it again in September. The only problem is September is much hotter than February and I expect the crowds to be higher so we are actually planning only the major attractions for this trip. We did three parks in one day and dinner at Raglan Road in DTD.
Commando Touring of WDW is a lot easier to do than you may think.
Follow Dave's advice and pick and chose your ride that you must ride or attraction you must see.
Then take all the park maps out of your Passporter Guide and lay them out in front of you. This way you will see travel routes you may not have thought of before.
Buses are not the only transportation around WDW.
Think about using the Monorail, the Boats, Taxi's, the railroad at MK.

I agree...it can be done, but don't forget to take some moleskin for blisters!!! We did three parks and both water parks in two days and had a great time, but we were soaking our blisters each night.
We spent the morning at the park, went to the water park for the afternoon and then back to the parks until closing time. We didn't carry our change of clothes with us, so each change from or to swimwear, we ended up going back to the room and changing. In other words, there was time, but it was rushed and it was only me and one child (12 at the time).

Thanks for the advice---I will have a nice long rest when it's over--a seven day DCL Cruise! [img]/ubb/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] I've talked to the kids and got their must do's, and let them know we can't do everything. It'll be fun trying though!

DH and I plan on doing the same thing in October. Big difference is the boys will not be with us. We will actually have 2 1/2 days though. The day we get in we are going to MNSSHP. Then we have 2 days and home in the AM.
Hopefully everything works out OK and are flight time do not change again.
