As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I'm very fortunate to be able to add a full 3 days to my touring after our All Girls Weekend in January. My beloved hubby will not be able to come down to join me, so I am on my own. I have more plans than I have hours in the day, of course.
However, I am still spinning ideas in my head and looking for more possibilities of what to do. What would you do if you had 3 days to do anything you want, whenever you want to? Where would you dare to be totally Disney crazy?
I've done this a couple of times. I found it was a good time to explore the places that you've never had a chance to do when touring with others. Or redo something that is your favorite thing to do.
I like to just walk around and really look at everything, taking my own sweet time.
I did this for one day in Disneyland recently, and it was really great!
1. Take advantage of the single rider lines
2. Ride the things you really love twice in a row (or even three times! It's amazing the new things you will discover)
3. Visit the attractions that the rest of the group isn't very interested in.
4. Get the World Showcase passport and visit every country, and get a cast member from each country to sign your passport...it's amazing the conversations that you will have. And challenge yourself to complete it in one day!
5. Spend a couple of hours by the pool, or if you want to splurge go for a spa visit at the Grand Floridian!
I love to resort hop when I travel alone. Gives me a chance to linger in the gift shops that I find interesting without being hurried along.
I had a day on my own last time we were at Disney, while DH went to NASA (not my cup of tea). I started off going to Epcot, getting character autographs, then took the boat back to the Beach Club and spent hours at Stormalong Bay. For lunch, I had just ice cream (DH would frown at that!), then I went to MK and just people watched really - and boy, two days after Christmas, there were plenty of people! So really I did what I wanted to do all day and some things which others might frown at. It's a great opportunity!
I'm on my way to my first solo trip and am looking forward to being on my own. I'm planning on doing a lot of those things that you just don't get to when you're with a group. I signed up for the Keys to the Kingdom tour. I'm going to do some resort hopping and take in all the decorations. Some days I'm just going to wander and do whatever hits me. That's the appeal of solo traveling: go with whatever you want to do.
I can't say that I've ever traveled solo, but I have enjoyed having a morning or afternoon to explore on my own. What do I enjoy the most? Just being able to go at my own pace, watching the people, etc.. I also really enjoy checking out all of the stores/giftshops with out worrying about losing track of my DH. Enjoy your three extra days.
I find that the parks are just more fun the more people you have. However, when I go with lots of people, the parks take up the majority of my time, because that's what everybody wants to do. When alone, I can only imagine the oppertunities WDW offers those who can do whatever they want. Visit a spa. Shop at a resort. Sit in the sun at your favorite pool. I strongly recommend taking a tour (407-WDW TOURS). These are excellent experiences that just can't get anywhere else, but may not be something that a large group would want or be able to do. Now that you are on your own, see the the World from the inside out.
I went Solo last August. There is soooo much to do. I did the Keys to the Kingdom Tour.Which was awesome. I spent time visiting the other Resort hotels I had never really seen. Shopping with out looking out for someone all the time was peaceful.
Focus on the fun of doing what you want when you want. At your Pace, When I was tired, then back to the hotel to lay by the pool. Sit in the lobby and People watch.
Since I have done the Attractions many times & they hold no suprise to me. I Love listening to People in Line who have not experienced a ride. Hearing their Anticapation of what is going to happen next.
Enjoy the Solo Experience. Savor the things you enjoy. I did many of the shows I had never done before. Have a great time.
Although I have never gone solo, I always have solo time because my DS and DH do manly things I don't enjoy. It is great touring at your own pace and expecially striking up conversations with others..you meet fun people. I eat where I want and do the rides and shows my DS has outgrown (he is 12. no more IASW).

Part of my recent trip turned into many solo moments for me-husband got sick, and would not hear of me staying in the room.He siad it would have made him sicker knowing he was stealing some of my magic away.. I resort hopped /Took time to stand in front of the castle for a long time and just watch it change colors one night.Offered to take picture for anyone that looked like they might love haveing both of them in it.- Thus passing the magic on. Took pictures of things I hadnt thought of taking picture of before. Talked to people. It's a differnt kind of fun-and not for everyone!!You have to like your own company too and listen to your heart -play it momnt by momnet and the magic is still there. Take the time to take a small notebook with you and record your feeling as you go thru the days...refecting on things past and present-and future as they relate to the place you are in at the moment be it park or resort!!
Enjoy- and discover things thru new eyes-experienced as a set of one!!
Till next I post,
PEG
