As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). They have a direct flight from where I am in OKC to SFO, which we are wanting to try. We will have to rent a car (which we would do anyway) and drive the rest of the way in, but not having a layover while traveling with a 2.5 year old will be totally worth it (at least we think it will).
All of that being said, it is now May and they still don't have dates open after August. If you've flown with them before, what is your experience on when they will extend the window? I am going to be waiting until June or July to try to make my airline ressies?
I have never flown Allegiant but DD's best friend from high school is a flight attendant for them. She's a great kids and I will give the airline kudos for hiring her.
I fly from New England to Houston one a month, I drive an extra hour or two for a direct flight. If that is the only direct flight, I would go for it. To me the time you save going direct far outweighs any advantage one carrier would have over another. Spending an hour or more in an airport is tiring and makes the travel day much longer.
We flew to MCO direct. It took around 3.3 hours. We flew home with a change, If I subtract out the weather delays, it still took over 5 hours and we had less than .75 hours between flights, so basically time for a run to the next flight.
My son and his dad flew Allegiant last year going into Sanford when they visited Universal Orlando. They didn't complain. I think it was fine, and it was far cheaper and less hassle for them to go nonstop on Allegiant out of our city.

Check the extra fees before you book. Allegiant charges for everything. They also only allow 40 pounds for bags where the larger airlines give you 50 pounds. Most of the time, our bags come in between 45-49 pounds.
you can save money flying Allegiant but if you want to reserve a seat, get priority boarding and bring on some carry ons, your saving might not be as much as you expected.
We have flown alligiant for this exact reason and never had a problem and the cost for us had always been comparable or cheaper than other airlines.
Alligiant is known for changing airports do for dates past August you may have to fly to MCO. For us half the year they fly to Sanford the other half Orlando with random flights offered to punta gorda
Also check to see what other flights they offer around the time you are flying. If for some reason yours has an issue, you don't want to be stuck not being able to get on another flight.
Its been a couple years but we flew Allegiant to Las Vegas. We paid $10 extra for an assigned seat which was better than fighting lines and crowds to sit together. Overall good flight and would use them again.
My co-worker frequently flies Allegiant out of Shreveport. She has no problem with it and is always suggesting I use it instead of SWA or American, the 2 airlines I use the most. Her Allegiant flight was straight into MCO, where he daughter is.
Hmmm...interesting. When I go into their site, it doesn't give me the option to choose MCO. Only SFO, which is the only destination they show they fly out of OKC. I wonder if the reason the dates don't show after August is because they are changing things up. I may have to call!
I am not worried about price. In fact, I'd gladly pay EXTRA to not have to get stuck changing planes and having a layover with a 3 year old.

I've flown with them and usually its 90 days or so out of the fly date that the dates are released. It used to be that way. I have flown into that airport SFO its sanford and its about 45 minutes or more depending on traffic from there. It was super easy to get in and out of. I really liked them and they do charge extra for bags but with a nonstop for that cheap it was worth it for us!
