As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Which resort would you recommend for a family of three adults going to Disney for the first time. The three members are not real big pool people. They would not have a car. They like nice restaurants and nice scenery. We are thinking fall 2016. All recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks in advanced.
If the budget allows it, I would recommend either the Polynesian or the Grand Floridian! After that, I would suggest one of the Epcot/Boardwalk resorts (Yacht/Beach Club or Boardwalk Inn).

So many options, so little time. A few questions. Will 2 of you be OK sleeping in the same bed? You do not mention if it is 2 parents with an older child, or 3 separate adults. What's your budget? How long? Have you researched any of the parks as of yet? Which might be your go to park?
One thing to remember - you will NOT be able to do it all. Not even a small fraction of what WDW has to offer. Too many people try to cram in as much as they can, and they end up needing a vacation from their vacation. Take time to smell the roses and look at all the small details that the imagineers put out there. You will have a much better time if you understand that you cannot do it all. Also remember that a WDW vacation is expensive. Another reason that people try to cram as much as possible saying that they need to get their money's worth. If you are like that, then I would recommend NOT going there. Spend your money someplace that you can relax and enjoy yourselves. So with the prelims out of the way.
If you like seeing animals when you are in your room, you can't go wrong with a savannah view room at Animal Kingdom Lodge.
If you think you'll be going to EPCOT a lot, maybe a stay at the Beach Club or Boardwalk would be better.
If you love MK and plan on multiple days there, any monorail resort would do, though my wife and I prefer the Grand Floridian. We love the ambiance and the restaurants.
If you think that you might take time to go to Disney Springs a few times, you can't go wrong at either Saratoga Springs or Old Key West. Take a relaxing boat ride to Disney Springs.
If deluxe isn't in your budget, then either of the Port Orleans resorts would be a wonderful choice for a Moderate. The Fort Wilderness cabins are an excellent choice if you want to get away from it all, and enjoy peace and quiet. They also have a full kitchen, so if you desire, you can cook meals there.
We've never stayed Value, so have no idea what the choice would be for that.
Please let us know if you have any other questions. Happy to help!

This is great advice! Can you tell us a little about your group? If you have not done so already, I highly recommend getting a copy of the latest Passporter guide - it contains so much wonderful information to help you plan. Unfortunately, there is more pre-planning and less "winging it" in a WDW vacation than there used to be.
Welcome to the Boards. And again great advice about not thinking you can do it all. So look at the things that your group really wants to do: rides/parades/tours and get that planned and where you want to eat...there are so many wonderful restaurants so have fun, plan down time and as always we are all here to help in anyway possible.

Welcome to the boards!
The group is a mom and adult brother and sister. The mom and daughter have no issues with sharing a bed. I hope this information helps.

We have really enjoyed all of our stays. We have stayed at the Caribbean Beach (twice), the Coronado, the Animal Kingdom Lodge, and Port Orleans-Riverside.
All of these resorts would be great for adults. The beds are all queen size - I think they have converted all of them from fulls. If I remember correctly CB, Cor and POR all have a curtain that can be pulled across the sink/vanity area to divide it from the rest of the room for privacy in dressing etc. The AKL doesn't have a curtain, but does have a larger bathroom in addition to the sink/vanity area.
The restaurants at AKL were amazing. Restaurants at the other resorts were good and I would have no qualms about recommending them.
We had a savannah room at AKL....loved watching the animals in the morning and evening. And the main lodge at AKL is a wonderful place to sit and people watch.
On our last trip at CB - we had a preferred location and had an amazing view of the lake and were within VERY easy walking distance of EVERYTHING!!!!
You may want to let the advertised discounts and/or pin codes help you decide where to stay....Have an idea of what you want, but don't lock yourself in just yet. Sign up for an account on the Disney website, make up itineraries and save them (you don't have to pay even the deposit until you actually want to book), send off for the vacation DVD. Any of these might net you a pin code, which can be an AWESOME deal depending on when you want to go. We can't guarantee a special code, none of us know how Disney decides to send them out!!
Good luck and have fun planning!!!!!!!!!!

I love POFQ and think it is a good choice because it is small and easy to get around. Also, the adults might like having the boat service to Disney Springs.
