Forums Closed

As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Trip report
Tomorrow, my mom, brother and I will head off to the DLR to stay for a night at the GCH. We will not be leaving first thing in the morning (mom has to play violin at church), but will leave between 10 and 12. After we check in we are going to do a FEW rides at DL, and then swim at the pool. We then will have dinner and play in DCA until it's time for DEP, and then heading to DL to see Imagine, and last but not least, Fantasmic!. We are hoping to try to hop on one last ride before the park closes. The next day we are just going to do the parks and travel a bit with our across the street neighbor, before leaving/checking-out around 7.
I can't wait!

Day 1
I woke up after what seemed no time at all in bed and went out side to ride my scooter waiting for mom to come home. While I was out, while my neighbors began to pack there car (it just so happened that we where going on the same day), I played with there kids (7 and 5) who where very exited about going, and the 7 year old kept going on and on about ToT and Fantasmic!. They were staying at the DL hotel and we were staying at DGCH. They left about an hour later, the 7 year old saying "ToT, here I come!!!". When mom finally came home it was almost noon, and then we hit the highway. The traffic was nasty, being normal for a stretch and then nearly a standstill, and then normal and then a standstill all the way up to the DLR, but we finaly checked-in at DGCH and had a late lunch at Storytellers. We then headed to DL park and jumped in a 20 min. line for Indiana Jones. I use to be terrified of the line inside the temple, but I made it through fine this time, and got on and off the ride in no time.
Coming up next: I sit in the death seat on the reopened BTMRR!

You are very brave! Can't wait to hear about it!
It must have been hard waiting so long for your mom to come home and then the traffic! It sounds like you were patient, though! That's good for you (and your mom!)
After reading about the Storytellers Cafe, you must have had a great time! It looks like a cool place to eat!
Storytellers Cafe
As far as Indiana Jones...it sounds like you're growing up! Glad you weren't terrified!
I really want to go to DL and stay at the hotel you are. I can't wait to hear about the hotel!
More, more!

This used to be the only seat I would sit in - in fact, DH & I rode in that very seat only 2 days before the big accident!!! It's still my favorite ride at DL - I'll just make sure I sit a little further back from now on!!

Re: Day 1
We had traffic just like that when we were there. Wasn't Indiana Jones great? There was so much to see and experience, I felt like I missed some. Oh and the snake wasn't working when we were there, but I hardly noticed.

Actually.... the snake dose not move any more at all. I have been on it 6 times this year and it did not move one bit (but it still yells in your ear ).

Day 1.2
When we left Indiana Jones my bro wanted to go on Big Thunder, and I wanted to as well (to report how it's doin' to y'all ). If I thought the line for Indy was short, I did not think so after hoping right on a train 2 minutes after we entered the line. They had a new train going, looking a bit to sleek for BTM. As I saw the train zooming down a helix, I began thinking about how sad it is that people won't go on it anymore (or at least everyone I talk to) after the crash etc. Well, as this went in and out of my mind, the word "crash" refused to exit my head. To make matters worse, we had to sit in the old train, and we had to sit in....yep. The car right behind the engine. The cast member sent the train on it's way. As we picked-up speed, the car began to rattle like a wooden coaster (is it?), and after the first lift hill, I was praying for dear life ! When we would go over hills, it would seem like the train was going to fly-off the track. When we got back to the station I was very relieved to get off! That was the scariest coaster ride I have ever been on!
Coming up next: Splash, and "It's a Goth world after all"

Re: Day 1.2
I can't wait to go on BTM again. I don't care about the accidents, you take a chance on every ride, you take a chance just walking across the road. We always like sitting in the last car because of that whip effect plus it feels like your going faster. Keep the TR coming.
