As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Not any real difference between the values, IMO Just according to the theme that your family will enjoy. The AS values share a bus, but POP has it's own unless it has changed since we were there.
pop has it's own buses and it is a much bigger and newer resort.

I stayed at the All Stars this past Dec - we will never do it again...I hated the transportation to and from them. They do share busses, so when it gets full at the first or second stops the driver has to go to the park. You would think that the next bus coming in would go to last stop and pick up the people who have been waiting - not so much...They start out exactly the same...My 05 trip we stayed at Pop and loved every minute of it! The busses were great - not any problems waiting.
The funny thing is: it was off season in Dec @ the All Stars and the busses were horrible - imagine if it had been during Christmas week?! We did stay @ Pop over the 4th of July in 05 and the busses were terrific.
Hope this helps :-)
If you plan to stay at a value, I would say go with the Pop Century for the bus situation. The All Stars just have too many people in the combined resorts that clog the busses. We've stayed at the All Star Movies twice and this second time has convinced us that the bus experience is enough to prevent us from going back. The moderates are not much more and generally are worth it. We stayed at the French Quarter and loved it - small resort and always room on the bus.
We stayed at ASMovies last Dec and loved it. Yes the AS buses share buses. But the buses came every 15 mins or so and was not very packed. Leaving the parks at night there was a bus for each resort.
The room sizes are the same at all the values, they each have different theming. POP does have its own bus. The AS share the bus some of the time depending on crowd levels. We were there at the AS Sports in September for 12 days and only twice did we share with the other resorts. Both times it was the 7AM bus going to early breakfast ADRs and even after all three stops the bus was not close to being full. We found that buses arrived frequently for pick-up, too.
For me, the difference between the values is really all about theming. But then again we always get a rental car when at WDW so the bus situation isn't a deciding factor for us at all. We personally love ASMo and ASports for their theming.
We like POP, we have stayed there twice. They have their own bus, and do not share with any other resort. The difference like others have said it the theme of them. We have visited the other resorts during our trips, and for us not having to share the bus with another resort is a plus.

POP is the best they have there own bus and the all stars are really far out Pop is really close to DTD and WDS I've been there about 5 times goin back in Dec really Love it there
We are going to them POP in 19 more days WOOOOHOOOOOO!!!!!! We chose this resort over the other value resorts because it has it's own bus line. Last April we stayed at the Port Orleans French Quarter and had to share buses with riverside it wasn't bad in the morning but at night the waits where long.

We've been to ASMu, ASSP, & Pop, HATED Pop!!!! Will never go there again. LOVED the All Stars. Never had any trouble with buses at any of them. But Pop was tacky - themed, dirty, poorly staffed, poor mousekeeping, the foodcourt was a nightmare, there was never enough seating in the foodcourt and the staff had no idea what they were doing with the dining plan - and the food was terrible, we saw a soiled diaper laying next to the pool one night, we saw a "floater" in the pool another night, the kids here were running wild, there was no order, no supervision, and the CM's at the front desk were clueless when asked basic questions about the parks! When we go back in May we are staying at All Star Movies, as is the last of the Values we have to try yet. But, we will NEVER stay at Pop again! If you can avoid the food court, the people, the staff, and only shower, sleep, and hop on a bus, then stay at Pop - the location is worth it - it's close to everything

We always stay at AS Music. We love the theming, the pools, the landscaping, the price. At the All Stars, you have access to six pools and three food courts and shops. We love the guitar pool surrounded by palm trees; when we see that, we know we are really on vacation. And for the picky folks in the crowd, there is a McD's right outside the gate.
Although we now mostly drive to the parks, when I take the bus I do not find I have long waits. People who have not stayed at the All Stars may not realize that they are, in effect, one big resort with 3 bus stops. More than once I have hopped off at Sports (the first in line) and strolled across the shared parking lot to my room at Music. You can have a bad experience with buses at any resort (and when I rode a bus to AK from Wilderness Lodge, it made a stop at another deluxe resort!).
So pick one because you like the looks of it (my son picked Music from a picture 7 years ago) or because you got a good deal and enjoy your trip!

POP isn't all that horrible, sorry that you had a bad experience, but don't let this become a festering grudge. it may be "tacky" but that were the point! to show us how crazy our parents were in those decades! :P disco anyone? now that's a tacky thing dirty? I've not seen a speck of dirt on my stay. the pool situation were unfortunate, but that happens at all public pools anyway. Kids somethimes let one go, because of the warm water temps relaxes them so much that one just pops out!
that's why there's massive chlorine levels in the pools.
I've stayed at pop, ASsp and i've said if you stay at one All Stars, you've been to em all!, POP seems to be the king of the values, frozen cola, diverse food, big gift shop, and interesting theming and their own bus!
so, give Pop another try, in off season times that doesn't include pop warner or another meet that involves high levels of semi supervised kids
I would stay at Pop next time. We stayed at All-Star Music and the wait for the buses was long and they were crowed and I think all of the All-Star hotels are the furthest away from Magic Kingdom! Never again just for that reason. Overall, the hotel was nice but a long walk to and from the hotel room to the lobby and buses.
