Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

What don't people understand about queues?

Honestly!!! And mostly this problem was at the water parks. At TL we were waiting for tubes, and a couple walks in front of us and helps themselves. I said excuse me but we were waiting. Woman turns to me and says, it's no big deal, 2 people cutting but go ahead if you want. What??? Like I'm the wrong one.
Waiting for a tube for lazy river at BB a woman and her family just walked past about 8 people waiting in line for a tube, waded right into the river scooping up tubes
What's the matter with people?

we were waiting in line one year for TOT. Out of no where about 10 tour teens butt in front of us. Ok we let that go. 5 minutes later about 20 tour teens. go ahead of us & join their friends. Now i'm foaming at the mouth. Tried to tell them there was the back of the line. They act like they don't understand English. How rude

You will find me getting pretty loud when people start trying to break/cut in line. Now, I understand if you've stepped out of line to go to the bathroom, had to change a diaper, must have a Dole Whip (yep, we've all been there) -- but, when it is blatant cutting in line, I'm not afraid to call you out on it. And then shame on the person who tried to turn it around on you "it's no big deal" I would have said something along the lines of "It is a big deal to the X number of people you just cut in front of. Wait your turn!"

Most people are decent, considerate people. But there are many others who are Unique and Special Snowflakes, who honestly think the entireuniverse revolves around them and them alone. The world itself was created FOR them, and the rest of us should feel privileged we're allowed to be in it at all.

As a friend of mine once said: "all it takes is one turd floating in the punch bowl, and suddenly noone is thirsty anymore".

I don't understand how some people feel they are just entitled to break the rules and be rude to people.

Working retail I have met quite a few people with a sense of entitlement. they think they are better than anyone else and you should drop everything to serve them. The problem is they are raising children to be just like them. Drives me crazy.
Sorry for your experience

We had a situation where a group of inner youths from Chgo ran ahead of everyone in line at Aerosmith-there chaperone was no where to be found-they jumped over the ropes, etc. We saw a CM in front of the entrance and voiced our concerns-she held up all of the kids-waited for there chaperone to come get them and marched them down to the front entrance!

They should have marched them to the parking lot without a refund.

Don't forget the Buses at closing. I have just stepped aside several times because of rude people, but I have also seen numerous acts of kindness. My Dh says they are afraid they will miss something or the street are going to disappear.

I too have experienced this. Sadly it is just not at Disney.
You know those stickers that one puts on the back of their car?*In loving memory of..*
My husband wants to get one that says *In Loving Memory of Common Sense and Decency*.

Now here is my take on it, maybe I am getting old and more mellow, who knows? but I think about these things.
1-Are they obviously foreign? Because they may not understand. ( Or pretend not to -I am not naive.)
2-Are they young? Maybe they have not had this type of experience before and/or they have had nobody to teach them poor dears.
3-Or are they just plain self-entitled?

By the time I have considered these things I am over it. But usually quite sadder.

It still bothers me though. Which is why I have gotten to where the only time I will stand in line or deal with crowds if I absolutely do not have to is Disney.

I don't get it either . Attractions without chained queues are my biggest peeve- like Mickey's Philharmagic. Once the doors open, people bum rush the theater?? People, there are plenty of seats and for goodness sakes the first ones in are in the farthest seats? We hang back because our children have been nearly mowed down more than once.

Can't we all just enjoy WDW harmoniously?!?! LOL!

Just ran into this same thing at a local waterpark yesterday! Waiting in the queue for the lazy river and a woman and her 2 teenage DD's kept slowly passing people. Every time the queue got to a bend they'd take the inside track and pass a few people. Amazing.

My husband gets so embarrassed when I address line cutters. He calls it my teacher voice which it is, but I try to be as nice as possible. The other day at a local park, several young kids including my son were waiting for their turn on a bouncy. After waiting over ten minutes, a child came out, then a preteen ran right by the line and into the bouncy. So I calmly but confidently walked to the opening and said " honey, you must have been so excited you missed the line! Please come out and allow these little children to have their turn." She stared at me so I then said, "come out, it's not your turn". Another parent thanked me for speaking up and hubs stood aside embarrassed. I just can't stand it when people cut lines and I figure if parents won't teach their kids, I will.
