As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

Hi everyone,
We're going in september. I am unsure if the EMH's are going to be beneficial or not. I got plans from touringplans.com which go against any EMH parks. Any suggestions?

We take advantage of both morning and evening emh. When going in the morning we can get in at least 5 rides before the park opens. The evening we can usually walk right onto the rides.

I never took advantage of them when they were only offered in the morning. Now that they have the PM EMH, I plan my day around them! I think PM EMH are great...the later you can stay, the better!

It depends which Park it is.... If I take advantage of EMH-AM and what they are offering. We don't usually stay in that Park all day, we go back to the Hotel for awhile and then head to another Park for te late afternoon and Evening. Some People do a none EMH park , the theory being it won't be as crowded becasue everyone goes to the EMH Park. I think that is true. So I guess it comes down to how the rest of your traveling party feels about getting up for EMH and if its worth it for them. If it is... do it. If they prefer not to get up the hour earlier to get there, then stick with the Parks not doing EMH-AM.

In the summer, I avoided EMH parks as they tended to be more crowded and all of the parks were open late(r) anyways. In September, the crowds will have thinned considerably and the regular park hours will be shorter. I would do EMH, as they fit in with your plans, to extend your touring day. Will the EMH parks be more crowded than the non-EMH parks? Probably, but I don't think it will make as much a difference in the crowds as it would in July, or Spring Break, or Christmas.
There are two criteria that I'd want to know before recommending EMH mornings to anyone:
Do you have hopper tickets?
Are you able to get to the parks 10 minutes before EMH starts?
With hopper tickets, you can hop to another park when the non-EMH crowds start to build around 10:30-11AM.
Make sure to have something to eat in the room before you leave that morning -- a bagel, oatmeal cups, granola, etc.
If you can't get there as EMH is starting, then change your plans and go straight to the park you were planning to hop to.
Also, have an idea of what attractions are open during EMH and have at least a loose gameplan of what you'd like to accomplish. Make a dining reservation for after EMH and eat then, rather than before.
As for the evening ones, I love the atmosphere of them and (especially as it gets later into the night and parents and little ones go back to their resort) you can usually get in a lot of rides in a short time.
We enjoy the evening Extra Magic Hours, but aren't usually up and ready to be in the parks early enough to benefit from the morning ones.
We are the same. We find we need to sleep in after touring all day and we enjoy the atmosphere of everything being lit up at night. Plus it is cooler.We make our dinner ADR's to be in or close to the park with evening EMH
Great question!! I have wondered this, as well. We will have park hoppers, and I can't imagine not taking advantage of that extra hour in the mornings! Of course, I am an early riser... But, I also plan to stay up really late to take advantage of the evening EMH hours. I'm going to need a vacation from my vacation when I get home!
