As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

What do you do to relax from the excitement of touring?
DH His Drewness usually watches tv or naps, sensible man that he is.
Me, I’m as excited to be at Disney as a little kid. I can’t stand to waste a moment of Disney time and often go out solo to do something. Browsing the GF shops is a favorite as is wandering about the grounds looking at flowers or people-watching. Occasionally, I’ve hopped a bus to DSpgs or the GF-Poly boat to the MK since DH’s powerchair can’t board that boat. I really enjoy riding the small boat.
If I know I truly need some rest, I’ll sort out new pins and put them into the case or load a different themed lanyard. My fave lanyard themes are Lilo and Stitch or Mickey and Walt. These are dangerous activities because they often lead to my running out to look for some pin(s) I lack and must have.
Disney, no rest really for me! (And yes, I often get home feeling like I could use another vacation to rest up.)

I tend to go at a very relaxed pace and follow my whims. The result is that I never feel like I need to relax. I've found a spot to sit and read while in the park, gone back to my resort in the afternoon because I'm just done with being in a park for the day and headed to Disney Springs because I've realized that I'm "done" so to speak. I'm sure the fact that I go solo helps me do this as I have no-one else's wants or needs to consider.

we go back and nap or wander down to the pool for a FAB and an afternoon of reading by the pool.
I've also wandered around the resort taking photos while Dave napped. It's not easy for me to settle down enough to nap....except if I'm lying by the pool reading. Go figure.

It depends on the season.
Cooler temps--not cold mind you, but cooler--give us more energy to stay longer.
If it's cold, then touring resorts is a great way to relax.
If it's hot, then a nap in a cool room or a stint by the pool are our "go-to's."
I have to have downtime. I can't stand running around constantly. I get one vacation a year and I want to be able to relax and enjoy myself. Sometimes I think I could totally go to WDW and not even go to the parks. So we head back to the room and enjoy a couple adult beverages, watch some tv, and use the pool. My anxiety kinda ruins browsing and shopping for me. I just can't do it anymore. Just as well anyway cause the budget doesn't stretch that far anymore either.

Most of the time we go to the pool, but if it's summer and it's too hot, we may stay inside. When staying in a DVC room, we'll get a puzzle and work on that at the room's table while we watch TV.

When it is super hot I will go back to the room and take a nap. I have also gone to another resort after leaving the park and hung out in the lobby; writing in my journal and then doing a little browsing in the gift shop.

- The outside tiki bar at the Poly. They usually have a singer and it's wonderful to just sit and listen.
- Naps of course!
- Drinks/lunch at the Boathouse dockside bar. This is one of my favorite places to watch the anphibicars and enjoy the view of Disney Springs and Saratoga Springs.
-Tiffins Nomad bar - if you need a break from the summer heat at AK, this is a must. Super quiet, comfy couches/seating, cool and dark. I saw a few people napping here.
- While I've not done it, I think that renting a pontoon boat for a few hours and cruising bay lake would be wonderful.
