As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I know this seems like a strange title, but it's actually the beginning of a poem I periodically text to my three DD's. It always starts the same and I always change the next few lines. I do this because it's a way to get them excited, as if they needed a reason, about our upcoming trip, THE DISNEY 2009 TOUR! Our first trip was the "No Regrets Tour". We thought at the time it would be our only trip so we decided to do everything in case we were not able to return. Boy did we get that wrong! We discovered upon returning home, we missed A LOT! Our only alternative was to go back. The second trip, the non-Disney hubby surprised us with a trip for Valentine's Day. This was all the birthday and anniversary gifts as well. He doesn't come along (gets VERY SICK on rides due to damage of his eardrum). That was last March. This will be the third trip and he said I have to pay for this trip since he's paying all of DD21's college and living expenses. Substitute teachers don't make a lot, so it has taken a year to save for this. This trip has been planned since November, even though we talked about it before we left WDW last March. What started out as 9 days has turned into 11. We added a 10th day at POP and one night at a hotel near DD the night before we're scheduled to check in. We're very excited and every day we talk about how many days and hours are left. Yes, we have the countdown clocks on our computers! We've got lots of plans about what we want to do. We're looking forward to eating at new places, staying at a new resort, and doing things that we didn't have a chance to do in the past. I'll be posting updates prior to leaving and hopefully pics and entries after we return!

The plan starts with an overnight stay on Tuesday with DD21 at her apartment. Luckily her place is on the way to WDW, so that will shave off 3 hours of the trip that day. Having her away at college has FINALLY PAID OFF.
The next morning, we'll leave about 8 a.m. and head south. This plan may change due to the time zone difference. Not really sure how DD17 will feel about getting up early. She's not quite as excited about this trip as the other two DD's. We'll arrive at the hotel in time for dinner and we hope to try T-Rex or Wolfgang Puck's. We'll need to make reservations, though. Then it's off to DD for shopping at the new Tren-D and the new t-shirt store. Everyone but DD17 has agreed to matching shirts. Obviously, if you're 17 years old, it's not cool to dress like quads. Regardless, we'll buy the shirt for her. I'm hoping if we make the parks early enough one day and we're wearing the shirts, we could be selected to open the park. I won't hold my breath.
The next morning we will check out about 8:00 a.m. and skip on over to POP. Even though the room won't be ready, we were told we could check in and pick up our KTTW. Then it's on to a full day at the park. We've got 2ADR that week. Hopefully these two reservations will make for a nice change from fast food. It wouldn't matter though if I had to eat peanut butter and jelly for ten days, it's DISNEY WORLD.

Most certainly make a ressie for T-Rex (you have to call them directly). The wait is outrageous if you don't.

That's correct. You'll leave your luggage with Bell Services. They won't give you a room assignment, but you can call them later in the day for it. But they'll put your tickets and (if you did it) the DDP, so you'll be good to go to the park of your choice.
Great start. Hoping DD17 gets with the groove. I have a 19yr old niece that wouldn't be caught dead at Disney park. I know...going to Disney pure torture.

Our party: Me, the Disney Mom, DD28, DD21, and DD17
Our departure: Tuesday, May 19 - arrive at DD21's place
Wednesday, May 20 - drive to Orlando
Thursday, May 21 - check in
Our resort: POP Century
Our must-do's: See Fantasmic, visit Typhoon Lagoon, Ride Toy Story Mania, and DM will take one day to go park hopping with the "good" camera. No kids allowed on this adventure. Yippee!
DD28 is the only one of us that hasn't seen Fantasmic. I feel bad that she hasn't had the chance to do that yet. On our first visit to the world, she was a day late arrviving due to a nasty bout with food poisoning so she missed the show.
DD17 really wanted to visit a water park last March but I was afraid the weather would be too cool. We'll definately make a day for her this year.
DD21 has plans to spend many hours at Epcot, her favorite park. Now that she's 21, she wants to order a drink. I'm thinking the Grand Orange Mon....well, I can't pronounce it, but Samantha Brown highly recommends it.
My goal is to spend a day in World Showcase watching all of the street shows. I regretted not doing this on the last day of our trip last March. I said then that if I got the chance to come back, I would try to catch as many of these street shows as possible.
I've slowly started to accumulate things we'll need on our trip. I've stashed rolls of quarters for laundry and the toll roads, a new make-up case, some rain ponchos and a supply of toiletries. I've limited the girls to one large suitcase and a make-up case. I just hope we can fit it all in. We've got to save room for the souveniers and scrapbook album I hope to get at DD.
Your trip sounds like it will be a ton of fun so far! Last year I visited disney with my dbf to celebrate our 21st bdays, let me tell you Epcot was our fav! So many tasty drinks! What I enjoyed most though was trying diff. wines from diff. countries and learning about them. Hope you have a wonderful trip
I hope that you and your kids have a magical time at the world

I'm really enjoying your TR so far! Sounds like a great girls get away. More please!
(BTW- my DH declared that he would not be matching me and the kiddos, but I packed him a tie-dyed goofy shirt anyway, which after a few days of Disney spirit, he proudly wore--hope it works with DD17)!

It's a Grand Marnier ("Marn-yay") Slush. Does DD21 prefer orange flavor or lemon? I initially tried the Grand Marnier, which was certainly good, but not OMG! Amazing (for me). Well, then I tried the Grey Goose Lemon Slush (made with Grey Goose Citron) sold at the same booth (on a different day...I'm not a lush!). The Grey Goose was so much better - but then, I'm a lemon fan!
(Also, if you're going to the Animal Kingdom, try the Yak Attack at Yak 'n Yeti's. You won't regret it, I promise!)
