As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

I agree. I keep waiting for the Amazing Race production team to have to intervene for Veronica's safety. Why does she stay with that loser.

Re: Amazing Race 12/14
I was amazed that Jonathan and Victoria were doing so well the last two episodes. Then Jonathan has to pull the stupid tack of dropping his backpack. Poor Victoria....I would have done the same thing she did.
What is it with him and being first? They've been at the top every time, first doesn't really matter until the last day! He is WAY too competitive and definitely has anger management problems.
Why couldn't Don and Mary Jean find the clue at the church? It didn't seem like anyone else had trouble there.
What would you have done? Brats or Beer? I would have probably chose Brats. Both seemed to go equally well for the contestants though. Surprising, because usually one choice ends of being harder than the other.
-HiddenMickey
BTW...I guessed the first and last contestants right this week!

Re: Amazing Race 12/14
I am still so disturbed about last night's episode. I couldn't fall asleep last night b/c I kept thinking about it and it was the first thing I thought of this morning. I also gasped when he pushed her. When they kept showing Phil I thought for sure he was going to tell them they couldn't continue the race b/c of his abuse. It just made me physically sick. I couldn't even enjoy the last few minutes of the show b/c I felt so ill.
Can you imagine what Jonathan's family must think watching this? How awful - unless they are the same way. But usually people don't notice how horrible they are until they see it on tape. I sincerely hope Victoria filed for divorce when they returned home.
On another note, I was very touched with Gus's reaction to the slave house. I was crying myself - that must have been truely emotional. I was glad to see every team took it seriously, too, and nobody rushed in, threw the rose and rushed out.
My favorite team is Kris & Jon, even though Kris totally reminds me of Britney Spears.

Re: Amazing Race 12/14
Jonathan is a complete a**.
He is a classic case of insecurity. I have no idea why Victoria is still with him.... unless he is $$$$ and she likes being rich. There really is no redeeming values in his body at all.
I was actually mad last night watching that show, and wanted to deck him.
Kendra is another one who doesn't have a nice bone in her body. Her comments to Bolo and about Africa were classless.
Her mouth may get her in trouble someday.

Re: Amazing Race 12/14
I loved the way the other racers were willing to give The older couple $$. Wonderful!
Tina, I am with you, I felt quite sickened by the blatant abuse shown toward Victoria by Jonathan. I hope his business is suffering because of the way he has revealed himself on national television.

Re: Amazing Race 12/14
I agree with everyone else about Jonathan and Victoria. I flinched when he hit her. I can't believe the "production" team hasn't stepped in and kicked them off. I don't feel bad for her, if she puts up with his crap then that's on her, but it's still uncomfortable to have to watch. I can't even begin to imagine how he treats her behind closed doors if this is how he conducts himself on live camera in front of millions of people.

He did say he had a Ferrari as he walked up the hill to do the road block. He's coming across as a total jerk and I can't believe he hit her (or her backpack) at the mat. I also agree that she'll pay a huge price when they're eliminated because it will be all her fault they lose!
I'm also finding I don't really care for Kendra or Hayden. They're rude and both tend to treat their partners poorly.
Even though I am sad to see them go, I also picked the last place team. Now if we could only get rid of Jonathan, all would be well!

Re: Amazing Race 12/14
I agree with everything everyone is saying about Jonathan as the survivor of an abusive relationship I know what it is like to be treated like Victoria. Sometimes it is not easy to just leave although it seems like it would be. I also thought Phil was going to step in and say more then he did. I hope the production team stepped in after and help Victoria out. There really needs to be a clause in the rules about emotional abuse and controlling behavior...although fights make for exciting television. Sadly it seems to all be for ratings!

Re: Amazing Race 12/14
I bet that someone did have a talk with them about it. I don't think that Phil or the production people would leave it like that. There is so much that is filmed that we never see.
My DH said it would have been interesting if Victoria had left the backpack behind...it was stolen as she thought it would be...and his passport was in it. Then what would they have done?

I was thinking that as well but yikes....how much more do you have to see? It seemed pretty black and white to me. Jonathan humiliating her and treating her like a 2 y/o and Victoria sobbing! Maybe she is a button pusher?? who knows...regardless Jonathan is a hot head who (like Beast) needs to control is temper!

Re: Amazing Race 12/14
I finally got to watch the episode tonight. As one of my students has said, jonathon has issues.
I wonder when they watch themselves if he will see what an idiot he has been. Unfortunately I have a feeling he will see nothing wrong with his behavior.
