Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Post infants and Disney

My daughter is a teacher and she is expecting a baby girl August the 1st. We had promised our grandson{her 7yearold} we would take him back March 2010 during Spring break. My daughter of course wants us all to go. So it will be our first time to ever take a baby. We take afternoon breaks already. any tips for taking a 7 moth old would be greatly appreciated.

Since a group of you are going - you may need to split up a little. Let the baby show you how he or she needs to spend the day. Some babies are ok napping in strollers, others need to be in the cool and quite of their room. So, some may have to take baby for naps and "play time" in the room while the big brother is still riding at the parks.

Miss V was 8 mths on her first trip. We just worked around her schedule. But she's an only child - so it wasn't a big deal if we had to go back to the room.

OH, at that time, we found PotC to be a great ride for her to nap on . . . now (a year later) the dark scares her a little.

Red face

We brought our daughter on her first trip to Disney at 8 months old. Besides going back to the hotel, we brought our stroller from home and she napped frequently in their covered from the sun and it gave us time to relax. She drank plenty of fluids and was great, good luck on your trip.

We took our 4 month old Twins on their first trip. The first night in the Magic Kingdom they didn't do very well at all. They were crying alot. Maybe because it was so loud. I took one on the Carosel of Progress (big mistake). I ran out of formula in the middle and she cried the rest of the time. I couldn't get off! It was terrible.
We worked out a system. My husband would stay with the Twins in the morning. while I explored the world with my family. I would return around 12 noon and stay in the room while he went and played. We would all meet up for dinner. It worked out really well.
Goodluck! I'm sure you will have a great time.

Knowing what to expect is a great help. Yes it will be different but the big brother will certainly understand when "the baby" has to go back for her nap and he can stay in the parks & ride because he is a Big Boy!
Have a Magical vacation and you are truly Blessed!

Get a sling - that would be my biggest tip. We have went with an 11 month old - but I have three children and I can tell you that every single one of them were happy as long as they were in the sling - no matter where we were or what was going on. We even took my oldest to New Orleans when he was only 2 months old (not for the night life of course!) and saw all the sights - without a stroller - only a sling and a diaper bag. I can't say enough good things about getting one and learning to use it well in advance of the trip!! It makes a great baby gift.

I agree that you will need to let the baby be the guide. When we went in Sept., my dd napped quite often in here stroller. One of the things that we 'created' was we took a little battery operated fan ( Walmart.com: 10'' Portable Fan With AC adapter: Lawn & Garden ) and used a bungee cord to attach it to the stroller so it would help keep her cool.

I think that as long as everyone understands the limitations of travelling with an infant, it's a great age. We took our twins at 10 months and then again at 22 months. At ten months, it was perfect. At 22 months--not so hot. At 10 months the twins were very laid back and happy to watch everything from their stroller.

I do feel sorry for babies stuck in strollers during the hotter months, but in March you should be fine. My only concern would be that you might need a little more space if the baby is still getting up at night.

Good luck and congrats on the new grandchild!

Infants at disney

I have taken my boys as young as 5 weeks old up until 4 years old. I do have to say that I would rather take an infant over a 4 yr old anyday. Just be prepared for anything. Never go anywhere without baby food/formula/breastmilk (well that is kind hard to forget). Always have plenty of fluids available, and plenty of diaper changes. We changed diapers every 1-2 hours like clockwork. Changing more frequently if needed of course. We took plenty of breaks and really enjoyed ourselves. The babies loved to be held and cuddled. I also suggest a sling it worked great. We brought our infant seat and stroller which was very handy too. We enjoyed our vacation and got wonderful priceless photos with the characters and babies.

A sling is a great thing, but for a 7 month old I would get an Ergo Baby Carrier...love this thing and still use it with my 2 year old...will be taking it to the world with me tomorrow...

My youngest went to WDW at 10 months. He really enjoyed little things that the rest of us might not have noticed like the music in the parks. The resort pool was a big hit too. We were really surprised that he enjoyed walking around the Boardwalk, watching the performers & watching his daddy playing the carnival games. Also, he had a great time at the HDDR, all the music and dancing really kept him entertained.

Have a wonderful time, it is so magical taking a baby to WDW!

Slings are great for babies and toddlers....two thumbs up for slings vs. strollers (or just do both at different times)

YOU ARE SO RIGHT....Slings are the bomb! fyi....if you've tried one and didn't like it, try another brand. It took me 3 tries before I found the one I liked (moby wrap is my fav....over the shoulder baby holder was too fluffy and the maya wrap was ok, but there are even more brands than that!

We took ds for one day to MK when he was 4 months...he was so good...just sat there and stared and smiled at everything. Then when he was 9 months we did a 10 day stay at WDW. He was far better behaved than my 5 y/o!! He loved being in the stroller, looking at everything. He was just starting to self feed, so mealtimes were very exciting for him! He napped in the stroller no problem. I brought a blanket and clipped it over the shade and it covered him..kept out the sun and the distraction.

What I would do is right from the time she is born, walk her all the time in her stroller, especially at nap times. Get her used to sleeping in a stroller. Walk the mall where there's noise...get her used to falling asleep with noise. Both of my kids can crash just about anywhere!!
