As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). Can you take food on the buses? I plan on being at all the parks when they open and I would rather shower and get going, than sit and eat the the hotel and then get going. So I'm wondering if we can grab a muffin or something and then eat it on the bus. Does anyone know?

I've taken stuff back to the room on the bus, but it's been in a bag or container. I personally have never eaten on the bus. Not sure if I've ever seen anybody eating on the bus before either.
Why don't you grab the muffin, which should still be wrapped, but wait to eat it until you get there? You could snack on it as you get your bearings, walk down Main Street, etc.
Or, if you're on the DP, and planned to use a snack credit, wait until you get to the park and grab something at the first stand you see.....
We've taken our refillable mugs on the buses, and been asked by the driver to keep them closed. We've also seen people be asked to put food away while onboard. Likewise, we have had drivers who never said anything. I am not sure what the "official" word on food on buses is, though.
We had a really irate driver one night as we were leaving MK and headed back to the All Stars . . . a guy had a fairly large cooler on wheels (don't know HOW he was allowed to take it into the park, but he was ) and it leaked all over the place on the bus on the ride back. We didn't realize it had spilled until we stopped at All-Star Sports and the driver turned the lights on, then DD wanted to get off my lap and she slipped and fell on the water and bruised her rear end.
The driver was NOT very nice about the spillage and let the guy with the cooler know that the drivers are responsible for the cleanliness of their buses when their shifts are up and that now he was going to have to clean it up.

I've seen the driver's say something and, one time, had to point out to a driver that there was a spill of coffee on a seat before we got on. As he cleaned it up, he said that guests aren't supposed to be eating or having open containers of beverages on the buses.
I like to have coffee in the room and eat a bagel as I'm getting dressed.

Do you know if my husband can go down and grab a bagel and coffee for me using my DXDP credits? Or do I have to be there? That sounds like the best way to do it.
The DDP credits are all together for your room on each ticket. He can go to the food court and get things for you without a problem. The credits are deducted from the total.
I love my leisurely breakfast when I'm on vacation! Every day of the week we eat on the fly, so I really try to enjoy every aspect of the day when I'm not on a schedule. But that's just me. I think a muffin would make a mess on the bus, and if as the previous poster said, the driver has to clean it up, I would probably not eat it on the bus.
Something else to consider it that the bus may be standing room only, and if you are standing, at least one hand will be required to hang on to the overhead rail.
I agree that I would wait until you get to the park. It should be no problem to take a muffin into the park and you could grab a map and a times guide, sit on a bench to look them over and enjoy your breakfast.
I guess I didn't really think about making a mess on the bus. I'm all about keeping people happy, especially those that have to cart me around and keep my room clean. So I will do like a few have suggested and either get something while I'm getting ready, or grab something one we get into the parks!
