As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

When visiting last September with two of my sons we got a bounce-back offer that I could not resist, a free dining plan with table service. So I booked it for six of us at Art of Animation for this June. Then I hopefully asked my kids if they could get off work then. As it turned out, all three boys got off as did two girlfriends ! We were set.
Making FP and dining reservations was a real challenge with so many people but we wanted to have one restaurant meal a day together. That way everyone could do as they wished and we still would be sure to meet up. It worked out well in the end. My only complaint remains toward the limits on FP for the "good" rides. Since my one son now lives in LA, I have gotten used to the old system that they still use out there at DL and I find it a lot more satisfying. When you use up one, you can get another for later. As it is with FP at WDW when it is busy, by the time you use up your three, there is nothing left that is really desirable to ride.
We managed to meet up on Monday the 29th with my oldest son and I flying in from Columbus, middle son and girlfriend from Easton, PA, and youngest son and girlfriend from LA. Three birthdays and one first visit were being celebrated and our first meal was at T-Rex at Disney Springs. That was a lot of fun.
We were anxious to show our first-timer how much bigger WDW is than DL but it was so incredibly torn up with building going on everywhere that I don't feel that it looked as nice as usual. It felt like a big city! Art of Animation was almost in the open from all the construction going on at ESPN Sports and the interchange there. Our rooms in the Lion King section were fun and fit all six of us fine. It would have been harder if we ever choose to cook in the room but we were barely there even to sleep. The two bathrooms were great. We were close to the main hall and buses.
At AK we did most everything we wanted including the rides in Pandora. The Navi River ride was pretty and everyone who rode the Avitar ride enjoyed it. I did not try it as I am really prone to motion sickness. One son thought I would like it, the other told me to stay clear! He said the spinning and upside down parts would have me upchucking as I sadly did on the Harry Potter ride!
Pandora was pretty at night, not as impressive during the light of day. Since I didn't like the movie to begin with, all I can say is it was okay. Not great.
Rivers of Light was pretty but awfully loud, I was constantly hoping that the animals were not being disturbed by it.
With the opening of Pandora, the other parks were busy but not mobbed as we feared they might be. It was the first week of June and a lot of schools were out but perhaps some folks avoided it because of that? Also, it rained a LOT every single day in the afternoon but that didn't bother us. I brought along some of the many, many ponchos we already had and was prepared!
EPCOT was beautiful as always. I thought Frozen was a little better seeing it this time but oh, I miss the old ride. My family thought it was dumb- but they are not little girls! We had free Birthday slushies at Club Cool. That was nice as it was very hot.
Studios are so busy constructing things! Star Wars Land is gonna be big. We saw Fantasmic and I love it so.
MK is the best always. We liked the Muppet Show in Liberty Square as they continue "refurbishing" the Hall of Presidents. No politics here, but I am glad that Trump is not going to have a speaking role when they are done. Seems safer.
We ate ourselves silly while we were there, had snacks galore left over at the end. Our best meals were at San Angel Inn, The Garden Grill, Be Our Guest, and Le Cellier. The birthday deserts- almost always cupcakes- left us in stitches as we were always so full when they came!
It was a wonderful trip for us all and went way too fast. We are already planning one for Christmas!
