As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

With less than a month to go until my next WDW vacation, I have Disney on the brain! Anyways, we will be staying at Pop Century this time around, and that got me to thinking about all the places I have stayed at WDW. I have stayed at value, moderate and deluxe resorts, and I have loved things about all of them. I would have to say that the Polynesian is probably my favorite, partly because I got to spend a special weekend there with my DD when she turned 21. With that in mind, what is your favorite WDW resort and why?

I would have to say the Polynesian and CRB, they both have sentimental memories for me. But I must say POR has a very nice, easy going feeling to it I love. But I do love them all.
Value - All Star Movies: love, love, love waking up to Andy's room outside my door! Great food court!
Mod - CBR: love the spread out, relaxing Caribbean feel
Deluxe - AKL/WL - tie! Both just breath-takingly beautiful resorts with all the amenities!

We the Poly!! It was our 1st resort and it was more than we ever expected!! Loved the atmosphere, the dining, the pool, the smell, the sounds and the view!!!
Value: I want to stay at POP sometime. I've been there to look around. Full of Disney magic.
Moderate: Coronado Springs - very pretty there and the rooms are very, very nice.
Deluxe: My all time favorite - WL. That is my home away from home. I can't say enough about the whole place. Will be going back next year and can't wait!
I don't know that I could answer that!
We've stayed at WL (once), FW cabins (once), Poly (more times than I can count), GF (once), BLT (once), BWV (once), BWI (More than I can count), OKW GV (once), AKL (once).
We've loved every resort except the BWV, but that was more a matter of maintenance and being so far away from Concierge (yeah, we had privileges, but it's not really worth the walk to get a cup of tea!).
I guess my answer is more: if I were given carte blanche to pick a place to stay, I'd have to say: I don't know!! If I were going with DH only - Poly. I love the romance there, and I really love the feeling of being on another vacation within the one I'm on. Although now that we've stayed at WL, I love it. It feels so relaxed and easy going. It reminds me of the one vacation we took when I was a kid (we drove all over the south-west for 2 months, stopping at DL along the way. WL feels like the lodge at Grand Canyon). If I were going with my whole family - BWI, or BLT - love them both, and the convenience of transport is always important. If I were with the family and we had our own vehicle, I think I'd try somewhere new.
Each resort at WDW has something special about it.
Up until my birthday trip last month, my answer would have been a resounding POR! That was the first on property resort we stayed at and everytime we've been there it has been wonderful! Later this month, I will be giving POR-FQ a try and I hope I like it every bit as much as POR. But last month we celebrated my 50th birthday with a stay at the Grand Floridian - which has always been my dream resort. Let me just say - it was easily the most awesome Disney experience we have ever had! Our room was the best (we were given an upgrade to concierge level in the main building!), we had a castle view, the service was wonderful, the CM's were so special, I could go on and on! Even my usually grumpy DH loved it and felt spoiled and pampered! So now I have a new favorite resort even though I know that due to the cost, I won't get to stay there very often!

Look what a little Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo can do!
I have only stayed at Values. My last family vacation with my mom and dad was in 01 for thanksgiving when we stayed at All star Sports.
In 2007, All star music was special cause not only was it a bday trip for my 21st but it was also my first trip with my Boyfriend Nick.
In 2009, it was a memory trip celebrating my dads life, my moms service in the military and its also when i got ENGAGED in front of the castle.
My dream is to stay at the POLY one day. i think in 2011 for our Honeymoon we may stay at POFQ but if my moms friend helps with finances for trip we may b able to go to a deluxe for such a special trip. Still have our fingers crossed.

That is such a difficult decision for me!
The Poly is beautiful and it holds a very special place in my heart. It was the very first resort that our family stayed at. And we it there!
AKL and BC definitely come in tied at a very close 2nd place to the Poly!
Actually, you put me in any of those three and I am one happy lady!
Of the mods that I have stayed at, I would have to say that I enjoyed POR.
Of the values, I would say that POP is my favorite.
Oooh such a hard choice! I've visited many resorts but only stayed at a few, but my favorite resort is POFQ. I love the closeness of it, the gorgeous grounds, the boat to Downtown Disney, and the walk to POR...I love everything!
It's almost like asking which is your fav child, We've stayed at CBR, POR, AKL, WL & Poly. There is something special we love about each one. I don't know if I could pick a fav! But if I had to- for Mod: POR, and deluxe- WL? Dunno, It is hard to choose. Really loved things about Poly too, and AKL. sigh.
