As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

What do you keep in your pockets?
I remember once I got my first PassPorter in 1999 I wouldn't lose another piece of important Disney business again.
I always keep the parks maps from my last trip, confirmation sheets, my AP's, WDW stickers handed out by the CM's and last but not least the WDW transportation guide/map.
What do you guys keep in your PassPorter pockets?

Re: What do you keep in your pockets?
I keep all my receipts from each day...yes, I too have every passporter since 1999. I know that in 10 years it will be fun to look back and see what it cost for dinner at the Flying Fish, or to buy that Skippy pin that I had to have. I also slip in napkins from the restaurants we eat at, fast passes that we don't use, I even keep the little tags the disney picture taker people give us to pick up our pictures. I have stickers in there, those paper drink coasters...if it fits in the pocket, it's in there! So nice to have a place to put the stuff!

Re: What do you keep in your pockets?
Pretty much the same here. I have all of my receipts, stickers, passes, etc... I love to be able to go back and see exactly what I purchased or was given on a specific day of the trip. It brings all the memories just flooding back !

Re: What do you keep in your pockets?
Everything! Receipts when I remember, little mementos that I want to save for a scrapbook project...you name it. I also try to jot everything down -- helps for scrapbooks, trip reports you name it. I really don't know how I survived without it.

Re: What do you keep in your pockets?
At the moment my passporter holds my 6 day park hoppers, my airline ressie confirmation and tentative PS plans. Since I've been sick, I've passed the time reading it (again!) and discovering new things and places I'd like to try to find with Sadie

Re: What do you keep in your pockets?
I just love those pockets. I used days 1-8 to keep things that corresponded to those days such as reservation confirmations, coupons for restaurants, etc. Under "Lodging" I have the resort maps. "Our Journey" has the plane boarding passes. I retitled the remaining pockets and titled them: Itinerary which held my spreadsheet version of our trip - OK, so I'm a fanatic, Coupons and Discounts where I kept a list of American Express and Disney Club discounts along with Rainforest Cafe and Planet Hollywood coupons and gift certificates I wanted to use, Maps which included a Florida map for our beach trip and park maps.

Re: What do you keep in your pockets?
Ive only had my passporter for a month now and our trip is March 16th. Ive been trying to fill in the stuff about airline resevation numbers, rental car numbers etc.. When I find something on the net for like park hrs, I print it and fold it and stick it in a pocket. I printed out directions from Airport to our Hotel, and have that in there too. Whatever I print out in regards to WDW or just our trip in general, I fold it and stick it in a pocket. Im so excited to use it when Im dont there, Ive never been this organized for a Disney trip,and its my11 trip down there.

Re: What do you keep in your pockets?
This is a great topic! Thanks for starting it, Allison!
Back when the first edition of PassPorter came out, we used to send the media sample PassPockets with stuff inside. One of the items was a fake ticket, and on it was a list of all the things I could think of to put inside a PassPocket. Here's what it said:
RETAIN THIS TICKET STUB and other valuable items in PassPorter’s built-in pockets. Here’s a partial list of what the PassPorter can carry for you:
* Tickets, passes, and coupons
* Road and city maps
* Notes written on slips of paper
* Parking shuttle pickup receipts
* Airline ticket folios
* Baggage claim receipts
* Shuttle tickets and receipts
* Detailed itineraries (when created on the computer)
* Resort/hotel check-in receipts
* Room keys (both punched card and credit card types)
* Guidemaps (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney-MGM Studios, Disney's Animal Kingdom, Epcot Resort Area, Downtown Disney)
* Property Maps (Walt Disney World, the resorts, etc.)
* FASTPASS ride reservation passes
* Entertainment Schedules
* Character Greeting Location Guide (for all the parks)
* Newsletters (for all the resorts)
* Cruise Confirmation sheets
* Resort Package Delivery receipts
* Express Check Out Folios
* Restaurant and cafe menus
* Disney Institute Guest Itinerary
* Resort/package confirmations
* What To Know Before You Go/Disney Resort Guest Insider Guide
* Various brochures from all over
* Receipts, receipts, receipts!
It's outdated now, but I thought you'd enjoy the list.

Re: What do you keep in your pockets?
I kept most of the same items you all mentioned, but had a thought...OH JENNIFER & DAVE...
How about ONE pocket that has a flap, one that you could slip things into and close the flap. This pocket could be for things that you definately would not want to inadvertantly slip out. It could have a string clasp or velcro clasp...OHHH, I like it!

Re: What do you keep in your pockets?
Oy! If only we could include every good suggestion. Unfortunately, a single, sealable pocket (like the oft-requested tabs) would add far too much to the price of a spiral edition.
Perhaps one day we'll find an affordable solution for the folks who use the Deluxe edition. While it would be too expensive to have them custom-made (at least at this stage of the game), we hope to find an affordable line of off-the-shelf accessories that fits the 6-ring binder. Wouldn't it be nice to have a zippered, clear vinyl pocket, or a tough, zippered nylon pouch?

Re: What do you keep in your pockets?
Um the deluxe passporters are designed rather like a filofax (two sets of triple rings)....Couldn't we find these desired add-ons at say Staples or Office Max?...Or are they so passe with PDAs that one would have to do a treasure hunt? H'mmmm I think I just found a new project

Re: What do you keep in your pockets?
I tried putting the clear plastic pouch that I have in my classic size Franklin planner into my deluxe Passporter 2002. The holes are punched differently in the Franklin planner compared to the deluxe Passporter, but the holes are somewhat elongated in the pouch so that I was able to put my clear pouch in by aligning it differently. I put the top two holes of the pouch into the second and third rings of the Passporter binder. The fifth and sixth holes of the pouch went into the fourth and fifth holes of the Passporter binder. It works fairly well, so I think I might pick up a Franklin Planner plastic pouch for my Passporter. It is nice to be able to zip up cash and other things that you definitely do not want to fall out. Re: What do you keep in your pockets?
Franklin Covey also makes hole-punchers for their planners. They can be found somewhat inexpensively through Staples or Office Max. So you could just repunch holes in the Franklin pouches for your Dlx. Passporter. Or just get out a passpocket, hold it over the pouch where you want the holes and punch away with a hand-held hole punch. Get creative!
