As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Not sure where this goes, but someone else's post where it was mentioned that a particular resort's bus stop can get crowded made me think of this.
What do you make of people when, after you've been waiting or standing at your bus stop for 20 minutes or longer -- and this is no easy task when you are having to corral in toddlers -- come walking up at the last minute and when the bus finally pulls up to the curb, they somehow make their way to the front of the line?
I know this can't be an isolated incident, but on more than one occasion on our last visit, we'd be waiting for our bus, holding what we thought was our place in line during the early morning rush hours, and a bus pulls up. A woman seems to just walk up -- maybe she had a view of the bus stop -- right as it got there and casually goes to the front of the line. When we finally get on the bus and are having to stand with our stroller folded up and holding on to 2 toddlers, there she SITS.
I'm not one to call out people, not on vacation, but as Disney goers in general, we all frown upon queue jumping or line breaking. Is this not the same thing? As my DH put it, she is probably one of those people that just feels "entitled."

Line jumpers are everywhere. I usually just give them the stink eye.
If I'm worried that the bus will fill up before those who've politely waited get can on, I will say something, and loudly. I will point out the line of people that've already been waiting -- sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn't.
Most often, however, I don't let it bother me. (I'm all for the "don't give them free rent in your head", and I ignore it so they don't ruin my day.)
One of the reasons I like Pop Century is they have "corrals" for those waiting to board the bus. It does tend to stop line jumpers.
I hear you for sure. I've noticed it mostly at resorts where there are no line queues. I don't think there's much to do about it. I just hope that karma takes care of the offender.
Not Disney related, but it reminded me of a recent experience.
About a month ago my friends and I went to Red Lobster for dinner. There was a line of people waiting to be checked in at the podium. A woman and man walked in behind us and then pushed by us. I initially thought they were just joining their group, but then they stepped in front of us at the podium after the family in front of us were done giving their names. I was like , seriously?
When she turned around to walk away with her pager I said to her and to the woman at the podium "not to be rude, but there was a line of people you just jumped in front of." The woman just shrugged and walked off. But the girl at the podium was like, really? And she highlighted the womans name and drew a big arrow that bumped her name down about 3 spots on the list. She took our names and we did indeed get seated before that woman. So, yay karma!
As you can see I have no problem opening my big mouth and if someone just walked to the front of a line that was already formed to get on the bus, there would be words. But yes, she was probably one of those "entitled" people.
Last trip we had a few incidents where folks tried to cut into lines, and my fellow guests were quite clear about saying "Excuse me, but the end of the line is down there." (And pointing, just in case there was no English spoken.) A couple of times people even tried to duck under the chains at ride queues, but I guess folks are starting to have enough and there was a general outcry from those who had been waiting.
Often at the resorts, people will wait in no particular place but when the bus drives up and the line forms, I will point out the end of the line to the potential line jumpers. Sometimes they just aren't paying attention but it can be deliberate.

I am one to usually point out the end of the line if I'm in a place to do so. The rest of my family hates it when I do that type of thing. I think it's about half and half whether the people are clueless or they are being deliberate.

I"ve noticed more and more that there are plenty of those people who feel they are "entitled" at Disney, lots of rude behavior. I try to not let it bother me, but sometimes it's so hard! I haven't experienced this issue on the buses, since we usually drive ourselves to the parks. What I have seen, though, is the free for all there is in the parking lots at the tram stops. Craziness! As soon as a tram pulls up, the people in the back start pushing forward, there were several times where people that I know were on line behind us got on the tram before us. One group of people actually cut me off and tried to board with my family, leaving me without a seat Sorry, folks, that's not gonna happen, and I very loudly let them know that!

I am not one to keep my mouth shut...plus I am bi-lingual, so they can hear it in English and Spanish...maybe I should learn French and German phrases also, just in case.

Most of the time it is not to bad at the resorts we have stayed at.
Only been 1 time we were all lined up at OKW, and there usually isn't that many people at the bus stops there and we all chat while waiting. so you kind of know who was there first. Now the bus pulled up and there was a person that needed assistance to load, had a electric scooter. now they always go first. The bus driver stopped and lowered the bus and opened the door with the ramp and out of no where a person jumped on. Bus driver stopped them and said wait your turn after everyone else gets on.

I would be very upset if someone jumped to the head of the line at a value, where there is an actual queue for the bus. At other resorts though, I've never experienced a line forming at the bus stop. Usually some people will be sitting on the benches, or just observing the area and chatting, and then when the bus they are waiting for starts pulling in they will move closer to the area where you get on. I would think it would be a little confusing at resorts that don't have an actual queue since there is one stop for all the various park buses. Of course I also don't usually go during very busy times of the year, so we've never had an instance where everyone waiting was not able to get on the first bus that came around for that park. IDK, I guess this just isn't something I've noticed. I am pretty sure though I'm not the one jumping any set order, because I always wait to be the last one on the bus...I'd prefer to stand by the door in the bus and be the first one off!

Line jumpers infuriate me too. Most of the time everyone is polite and wait their turn but once in a while you get the "entitled" ones. I usually bite my tongue because I don't want to cause a scene but sometimes I do speak up and show them where the line ends.
You can either swallow yr indignation and let it happen, OR, you can make a comment ... and possibly be plunged into an unpleasant confrontation. You'll just have to choose the response that you think will do teh least damage to your happy enjoyment of WDW that day.
Me, I usually say something along the lines of "the back of the line is that way" (pointing in the appropriate direction and trying to use a neutral tone of voice). I try not to let it become an argument, because that would overshadow the next couple hours ... but pointed impoliteness like that irks me too much to not react at all.
