As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I keep looking at the Early Morning Magic event for our short trip. I'm thinking it would save us some time and free up some fast passes. For 2 adults I think that it wouldn't be difficult to get up early to get to Magic Kingdom but the price is deterring me. As anyone done it and say that it is or isn't worth doing?

As for the price, I guess you mean the cost of staying on property instead of off?
For me, the big dealbreaker is the time of year you're visiting. If it's peak season and you know the parks will be crowded, morning EMH is very worth it! I've done EMH during spring break, and visited all the major attractions by 1 pm, when the parks are wall-to-wall people. If you're going at a slower time of year, it's not necessary.
One thing you can consider is staying on property just one night--the night of or the night before the day you do EMH at the park you're most concerned about getting into--and staying someplace cheaper the rest of the time.
I am referencing the Magic Morning event at Magic Kingdom that is the hard ticket event where you get unlimited access to 3 rides plus a buffet breakfast before the park opens. I'm wondering if the price is worth it?

We just booked it for our July trip!
We felt the $69 per person was reasonable. We've got a touring plan all ready and know where we are headed at 9:00 am when the park opens prior to heading to breakfast which is served until 10:00. Have our Fastpasses picked out, too.
We try to do something new each trip and for our upcoming trip, this is it. . . our new thing.

Oh, I forgot all about that!
I would personally never do that. Doesn't seem worth the money, when you can just do the Early Magic Hour for free, for staying on property.
Depends how fond you are of the limited number of rides you have access to, I think. Mine Train. Winnie the Pooh and Peter Pan are the only rides available.
Mine Train is great fun, IMO. The other two I could go on once each and be done most likely. They're classic experiences but not rides I care to do multiply.
You get a much better breakfast with this than at CRT which is not a buffet and costs about $60-$64 for an adult depending on the season!
Heckuva deal since you can wander about a virtually deserted area of the MK, do these rides as much as you wish and get a buffet breakfast.
I'd go for it!

I think it would depend on if you are staying on site or not. If on site you get access to EMH anyway, just without the breakfast. If you were going to buy a good priced breakfast anyway, then it's probably worth it, otherwise I don't think it is in my opinion. As mentioned the time of year and how busy the parks are is also an issue to consider. Additional FP beyond the first 3 are fairly easy to obtain at MK if you are flexible in what you do next, etc. Book your first 3 for early in the day, then as soon as you swipe your bands on the 3rd FP open the app and see what's available soon, book that as FP 4. As you enter the line for FP 4, repeat to get FP 5, etc. People can get quite a lot accomplished this way.
For me, it's not worth it. I don't need a big breakfast in the morning so I can get by on a granola bar or a box of cereal. And the three rides available I wouldn't want to do more than once. But that's just me. If you want to ride these three rides a few times and you enjoy a hearty breakfast, than I say go for it.
I don't think it is something I would do.... With that said, I would be interested to hear reviews about it.... I wonder if there will truly be time to ride these rides more than once as there will still be at least a tiny bit of a wait and just walking back and forth to the attractions takes time also.... Now, if it were offered for the rides in AK's new Pandora area- I would be interested

Not that much since Winnie the Pooh is directly across from Mine Train and Peter Pan not far away from them.
A blogger's review I read said that she rode Mine Train back-to-back about 15 times. You get to use the FastPass entrance and only have to wait for others doing this to get into their cars. Loading can't take much time as few people as there are doing this, I'd think. 7DMT loads pretty quickly even during regular park hours.
The thing to consider is that people who've paid for this will be the only ones in the area, and I bet not a great many people want to lay out this much money for an entire family. Not to mention that most people likely don't want to get up so early for no more than these three rides and a buffet breakfast.

Thank you for your opinions. I think given that we are going in the summer and we are just 2 adults who happen to love 7DMT we are probably going to go for it. I think a big part of it is experiencing magic kingdom so nearly empty.
Not something I would ever do for personal finance reasons, but this does sound like a neat event to do, probably as a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Hope you have a fabulous trip!
We did it last December and it was incredible! We mainly went to ride the 7 Dwarves Mine Train and did so about 15 times before the park opened. Do all you rides first and then go for breakfast. The buffet was incredible also! I recommend it highly.

15 times- wow! That is awesome. I still don't think I would do it, but only because we are a family of six and I just couldn't warrant spending that much money..... But hearing you got to ride it that many times, does make me view it as more value than I initially thought....
