Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

My first trip report Day 2- less eventful then day 1 but still a little long

Monday 8/29- 6:30am alarm goes off. Ok, I'm up! First things first, bathroom, out to the balcony for a smoke. Great view of the lake. Very peaceful and quiet. Watching the men on the roof scrub the giant letters. Nice to see they keep everything so clean. Go back in turn on every light, turn on Disney radio on tv pretty loud. "Good morning were at Disney World!!!!!" I didn't get a very good response. Decide to wake up the others in room next door but the door was locked. Banged for a minute, then decided to call. Nobody answers, what a surprise. Chris rolls over and says "why don't you just use the room key and let yourself in?" DUH! I didn't think of that. So I let myself in, turn on every light, and crank up Disney radio. "Good morning were at Disney World!!" Again not a very positive reponse. At this point I decide that on the following days I will try a less abnoxious approach to waking everyone up. Surprisingly everyone gets dressed and ready in record time. Out the door at 7:40. 2 minute wait for the bus and were off to AK to catch a bus to AK Lodge. Made great time, walked into the lobby right about 8:45. Wow! What a beautiful resort. Breakfast was great! Will definetly eat there again. Maybe next time we will try dinner. After breakfast we checked out the gift shop, then headed for the bus back to AK. So smooth! After a few minutes of discussion (i.e arguing) we decide to make our way over to Dinoland and get started there. Dinosaur was awesome. The kids were kind of bored with the Bone yard so we didn't stay there long. Primevil Whirl was a little rough on my neck, but the kids thought it was great. Stopped by the character meet and greet for autographs and pictures. By now it was pretty warm so we got some of those frozen fruit bars, which we really only ate half of them because they were melting so fast. As we were sitting eating them an elderly man came walking by with an extremely long piece of toilet paper attached to the back of his shorts(atleast 10 ft.long-not kidding). The kids thought this was quite hilarious, it was a bit funny. But I thought someone should let him know. As I sent Chris to inform him another man was already letting him know. He really had no idea. How embarrasing, I felt bad.Next we went on a hunt for this specific hat Chris had to have. My BIL got one a few years earlier and Chris had to have the same one. The tan safari one with the strings. After checking almost every stand and store we found it. This made him very happy. We also bought 2 of the misting fans. $17 each, well worth it when you feel like you are melting. I think this was our hottest day. We watched its tough to be a bug, very cute. Kali River Rapids was fun, then we headed to the safari. Extremely short waits for everything. The safari was alot of fun. Actually got some pretty good pics. We enjoyed the poacher story, it made it more exciting. Towards the end of the safari when you pass the trucks with the captured poachers 7yr old DD Tanner says "Geesh mom, why does this kind of stuff always happen to us?" Too funny, she really thought it was true. That made it even better. She continued to believe until a few days after we got home and her brat of a brother had to tell her it was all fake. Oh well, it was great while it lasted. We finished up with the Pangani Forest Trail. I wanted to do Festival of the Lion King and Tarzan rocks but didn't make it to either. It was getting late and we had a 5:05 ADR at 50's Primetime Cafe. We headed back to Pop, freshened up and back out the door to MGM. Arrived there about 4:55 and ran. Oh, I forgot to mention the excessive amount of bathroom breaks throughout our day. Personally I don't have to pee every 2 minutes. "Let's go people! Lot's to see and do!" I did kind of feel like a seargent. "MOVE!!MOVE!!" So back to MGM. I kind of forgot to tell Chris and Liz about the theming. Took Tanner to the bathroom and when I came out the others had already been seated. We join them and Chris is looking a little annoyed. "Mom" yelled at him for wearing his hat and putting his elbows on the table. HA! "By the way this is a themed restaurant". We were given our homework-name all 13 body parts of the body that have 3 letters. Yeah right. I think we got 9 on our own. Then set our own table. The food was pretty good. Mom referred to us as Skippy, Sparky, and Princess, etc. I thought it was great fun. Some others at my table were caught rolling there eyes a bit. My DSis Liz is normally a bit shy and doesn't like being the center of attention. Well, maybe she should have eaten her green beans. Watching Mom try to force feed her the beans was great. Shame, shame on you! Chris went to the bathroom when it was time to order dessert, so I ordered for him. He got the Dad's sundae. The look on his face was priceless. LARGE plate with a brownie covered in mounds of ice cream and syrups with a mountain of whipped cream. Topped with M&M's, caramel popcorn, and cherries. He did eat most of it. Everyone was quite stuffed, but managed to get up and keep moving. We rode TOT and Rockin Roller Coaster. TOT scared the crap out of me, but I loved RRC. It was getting late so we headed over to see Fantasmic. Definetly worth the 30 minute wait. We loved it. All except Tanner who was falling asleep on my lap. When it was over we dragged everyone back to the bus. All in all it was a pretty successful day. The children only had a few minor physical and verbal attacks on each other. I had this vision of magical happiness for our trip. Why, did I think I was bringing different kids to Disney World? I'm slightly delusional. But I still love the little demons. Arriving back at Pop and turning on the TV finding out for the first time what devastation was taking place not to far away in the gulf. It was a bit humbling, fretting over my 3 monsters being anything but perfect at Disney World. Going to bed thankful for them just the way they are. Safe and healthy. Talk about feeling a little guilty while others were suffering so. I kissed my babies goodnight, and prayed for those not too far away. I think I'll let them sleep in a little tomorrow. I set the alarm for 7:30. Headed for a full day at Epcot.
