As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

FAQ’s and eateries shorthands
Dining at Disney is constantly changing, so we’ve created this thread to answer some of your most frequently asked questions in the Eateries forum. We also aim to try and explain some of the most commonly used shorthands.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
What is Tables in Wonderland?
Essentially it’s a discount programme which gives Florida residents, Disney Vacation Club Members and Annual Passholders 20% off the price of food and beverages (including alcohol) at a huge range of restaurants on Disney property. There are some exclusions – for example, you can’t get the discount on major holidays and the discount only applies to the member’s check.

With the Magic Your Way tickets, you can add dining options in – how does this work?
You can now purchase a dining plan along with your accommodation and park admission. For a simple explanation of how this works and which restaurants are included visit All Ears Net.
Do I really have to make ADR's and at 180 days out?
This is something that a lot of people wonder. Experienced Disney vacationers do tend to plan this far ahead and the most popular restaurants that tend to fill up fastest are the character meals. Outside of these, expect to have problems getting into Be Our Guest in the Magic Kingdom and Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge and Le Cellier at Epcot are other popular places to eat.
How can I get into Cinderella’s Royal Table?
This used to be one of the hardest dining experiences at Disney to snag and still may present some problems, but now that the characters are present for breakfast, lunch and dinner, it's made things a lot easier.

Where can we eat at Disney without breaking the bank?
Although dining at Disney can be pricey, it doesn’t have to be. There are plenty of good places to eat more cheaply - check out the cost of meals in your copy of your Walt Disney World PassPorter (you do have one, right?  ) and Mousesavers also has some further money saving tips for you.
What’s the Fantasmic dining package?
All Ears Net sets out the information you need about this. Essentially the package gives you dinner at one of a selected number of restaurants at the Studios, along with reserved seating for that night’s show of Fantasmic!
What’s the best character meal?
To a certain extent, it depends on your favorite characters and what type of atmosphere you're looking for. Would you prefer a buffet meal or a la carte for example? You can get some idea from All Ears Net's Rate and Review section, where readers share their thoughts on restaurants.
What's the best restaurant in Disney?
There are many different answers to this question! It really depends on people’s past experiences with restaurants, what type of food and atmosphere they like, but there is something for everyone at WDW!  If you do want an answer to this, please try and give as much information as you can, so that we can help you. For example, if you've eaten at restaurants at Disney before and enjoyed them or not enjoyed them, it's helpful to know that. It's also useful to know what type of dining you're looking for - perhaps you love seafood? Another useful thing to know is whether there are picky eaters in your party, as this may affect the advice you're given.

Where can I find information about special dining events at Disney throughout the year?
Disney often puts on special dining events for events during the year, such as Easter, Mother’s Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year - if you're at Walt Disney World during these periods, then please feel free to ask about details of what's happened in previous years.
In particular, where to dine for Thanksgiving is something that's often discussed here, and as with so many other things dining, opinions vary, but if you'd like to get people's views, please ask away!
What is the Candlelight Processional dining package?
This page on the Candlelight Processional answers all your questions about this package. Is it worth it? Opinions vary, but if you want to know what PassPorters think, it's worth asking. 
SHORTHANDS:
We understand that shorthand references can be confusing if you're new to the boards, so wherever possible, your Guides will aim to spell anything out that isn't obvious, but these may also give you a helping hand:
ADRs - Advanced Dining Reservations:
Not the same as a reservation, it guarantees your party the next available table at table service restaurants.
AP - Artist Point
The Wilderness Lodge's signature dining experience, open only for dinner.
B&C - Beaches and Cream
Located at the Beach Club, this ice cream parlor is always popular for its burgers and desserts.
BOG - Be Our Guest
The newest addition to dining at the Magic Kingdom, this Beauty and the Beast themed restaurant is exceptionally popular and is the first in the park to serve alcohol.
CG - California Grill
One of Disney's signature restaurants, this is located at the top of the Contemporary.
CM - Chef Mickey's
Located at the Contemporary, as the name suggests, Chef Mickey is the main attraction here!
CMC - Cape May Café
Offering a character breakfast, with seafood the speciality at dinner, this can be found at the Beach Club.
CP – the Crystal Palace
This restaurant is at the top of Main Street and is home to Pooh and his pals, who are there for breakfast, lunch and dinner. All meals are buffet and eat as much as you can.
CP - Candlelight Processional
Confusingly, CP is also used for the Candlelight Processional, which takes place at Epcot during the holidays. The big discussion in this forum is usually around the dining package that you can purchase to see the performance.
CRT – Cinderella’s Royal Table
This restaurant, in Cinderella’s Castle in the Magic Kingdom, is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
EOS - Earl of Sandwich
This sandwich store at Downtown Disney is regarded by many as the place to go for superb sandwiches.
50s PTC - 50s Prime Time Café
A place to step back to the 1950s at the Studios, although be wary if you don't polish off your greens.... just saying!
F&WF - Food and Wine Festival
Held each fall, this festival at Epcot gives park visitors the chance to sample food from booths around World Showcase, and also purchase admission to a variety of additional seminars and meals.
FFC - Flying Fish Café
Another of Disney's signature restaurants, located at the BoardWalk and, as the name suggests, specialising in fish dishes.
H&V – Hollywood and Vine
Serves up buffet food that you can enjoy with friends from Playhouse Disney.
HDDR - Hoop Dee Doo Revue
One of Disney's dining shows located at Fort Wilderness, this is a hoedown offering good fun and food for all the family.
LTT – Liberty Tree Tavern
This restaurant, in Liberty Square in the Magic Kingdom, serves both lunch and dinner, and often comes up in discussions around Thanksgiving, as it offers a Colonial style meal.
1900 PF - 1900 Park Fare
Character dining at the Grand Floridian at both breakfast and dinner.
PSB – Princess Storybook breakfast
This is served daily in Restaurant Akerhaus in Norway and although it’s an easier Princess meal to book than the breakfast at Cinderella Royal Table, it’s still exceptionally popular.
TIW - Tables in Wonderland

V&As - Victoria and Albert's
The signature dining experience at Walt Disney World, located at the Grand Floridian. For this, gentlemen will need a jacket, and dresses aren't out of place for the ladies. It's the most expensive place to eat at Disney World, but it's quite an experience!
WCC - Whispering Canyon Café
A fun place to have breakfast, lunch or dinner at the Wilderness Lodge, but just don't ask for ketchup!

I checked out the specials list at allears.net and I was just wondering if you or anyone listening had advice on which restaurant has a good Tday experience. I'm hoping I haven't completely missed the advance reservation boat on this one and I'll still be able to reserve somewhere in the World! Thanks!

With MYW Dining is it allowed to 'split' a table service meal between 2 people and only be charged for 1 meal?
After reading many of the comments on this site it sounds like the quantity of food can be overwhelming for some with the dining plan.
