Forums Closed
|
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Oh yea......I hope everything goes according to schedule. We are going July 7th and I would like to have time to plan and use it way before my trip. I may wait to make sure it will be ready in time before I place my order. YEA!!

Re: PassPorter 2000 Due Date!
Hi Jennifer and Dave!
We have all been anxiously awaiting the new PassPorter 2000!
I have one question: Will it be possible to order the new 2000 edition and pay extra to have it shipped faster than standard mail? We leave on 6/24 and I would like to be able to have the new one for our trip.
Thanks!
Robin

Yes, it is possible. We can send it FedEx next day, or even FedEx 2-Day (though the savings isn't that much). If you want to get your copy sooner, e-mail us at orders@passporter.com and we can discuss how to get it to you sooner based on where you live.

PassPorter 2000 Due Date!
Hi, friends!
We have the answer to the question folks have been asking for months! "What question?", you may ask. This question: "When will the new edition of PassPorter be published?"
PassPorter Walt Disney World 2000 is being printed as we speak, and if all goes according to schedule we'll be ready to ship books starting on...
June 20, 2000
PassPorter 2000 has hundreds of new features and updates, much more than we can possibly list here, so we've prepared a Web page with all the details at:
http://www.passporter.com/wdw/2000.htm
PassPorter 2000's highlights include more PassPockets, two full-color maps, four fold-out park maps, ten times more attraction information, enhanced restaurant reviews (including counter-service eateries in parks) readers' ratings, a reinforced cover with planning calendars, timeline, and a built-in page protector, and so on. All for the same price: $19.95 list ($15.95 at a standard 20% discount)
To celebrate the new edition, from now until June 10 we're holding a special PassPorter 2000 contest at the PassPorter.com Web site. The person who comes closest to guessing the number of words in PassPorter Walt Disney World 2000 will win a big goodie bag filled with all sorts of fun stuff.
AVAILABILITY:
If you pre-order your PassPorter directly from us via our secure PassPorter.com Web site, toll-free order line or mail order, we'll ship your book(s) as soon as they arrive in our warehouse, and you'll have them 3-4 business days later. This is the fastest way to get a PassPorter! It takes another week to three weeks to get books through the distribution pipeline to other outlets, so you might expect to see your Amazon.com pre-orders towards the end of June, and bookstores may have the new edition on their shelves beginning in early July.
MONEY-SAVING TIPS:
Between now and June 20, if you buy a copy of the first edition of PassPorter Walt Disney World from us at the regularly discounted price you'll get a discount coupon good for 50% off one copy of the new edition! (Sorry, you can't combine this offer with other discounts.) This is a good deal for those going to Walt Disney World before PassPorter 2000 becomes available and want to take the first edition PassPorter along instead.
Don't forget that if you registered your copy of PassPorter with us you received a discount coupon worth 30% off your next copy of PassPorter when purchased directly from us. This is the perfect time to redeem that coupon! Put in your pre-order now to get your PassPorter at the earliest date. If you lost your coupon, e-mail us and we'll look it up for you. If you haven't already registered your copy of PassPorter, do it today at http://www.passporter.com/wdw/register.htm .
Details on all of this and more are found at http://www.passporter.com/wdw/2000.htm
Thank you all for your support and encouragement of PassPorter -- you've helped to make it an award-winning bestseller and we're eternally grateful to you!
If you've got questions or comments, feel free to post them here or e-mail us directly!

Re: PassPorter 2000 Due Date!
I was so glad to get the e-mail that the 2000 edition is coming soon! I was even more excited to read that there are pockets to accomodate trips of 11 days, exactly how long I'll be going!!!
Thanks.

Re: PassPorter 2000 Due Date!
Wow! Exciting news!
I saw my first Passporter for sale (non-online store anyway) at Waldenbooks last weekend but I held off on getting it because I was thinking I would get the 2000 for my upcoming trip.
Since I definitely want to have a copy of Passporter before my trip (I'm leaving May 31) would it be feasible to order it today (faxed order) and receive it before the 31st? If not, no biggie....I will make the trek to WB and then get the 2000 later. I just think having a Passporter with me will help me document my special (5th anniversary!! woo hoo!) trip much better than I've documented things in the past
Thanks in advance!
Melissa

We don't get the shipment of books until June 20, so it isn't possible to send any before then unless they arrive early (and we all know how unlikely that would be!) But we set up something for folks who need a PassPorter for a trip before the 2000 edition is out. Here's the deal:
Between now and June 20, if you buy a copy of the first edition of PassPorter from us at the regularly discounted price, you'll get a discount coupon good for 50% off one copy of the new edition! (Sorry, you can't combine this offer with other discounts.) This is a good deal for those going to Walt Disney World before PassPorter 2000 becomes available and who want to take the first edition PassPorter along instead. Remember, we keep the first edition up-to-date at http://www.passporter.com/wdw/customs.htm
If you're interested in getting a first edition now and a 2000 edition at half-off, go to http://www.passporter.com/wdw/2000discount.htm
Thank you!

Re: PassPorter 2000 Due Date!
Oops--I wasn't specific...I'm looking to get the pre-2000 Passporter before my trip next week...sorry about the confusion. I'm looking forward to having somewhere to put all my receipts and stuff so I can finally put together that scrapbook I've been promising to do! (my normal mode of saving things involves the item and my jeans pocket--not a good system!!)

Re: PassPorter 2000 Due Date!
I am so glad that the 2000 Passporter will be out soon. Whoo-hoo!!!
All of the improvements and modifications that I read about seem wonderful.
Quick question: I read that there would be a "deluxe" version that would have a three ring binder. Do you know what the estimated cost would be and when it might be available? I am very interested.

Re: PassPorter 2000 Due Date!
I just read the part about the deluxe addition, and I want to know too, if a date has been selected. I am not leaving until the end of November, and I'd really like the deluxe. Will the date be announced before the regular 2000 edition is available? I'd hate to order the regular and have the deluxe come out right afterwards. Knowing me I'd end up buying both anyway LOL.

We're not sure yet if we'll be able to announce the details of the deluxe edition before June 20, though we'll sure try! So much depends on schedules, shipping, and so on. Right now we're hoping to have the deluxe version ready to ship out about a month later, near the end of July.
If you do end up purchasing a regular 2000 edition, and then want a deluxe edition, we'll provide a way to "upgrade" without having to pay the full list price. Again, we don't have all the details yet, but we promise that when we do, we'll post them!
Thanks,
