As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

OK, so I finally talked my girls into taking a "girls only" trip! Dad is not a Disney fan (go figure), so it will not be too hard leaving him home for a week. I want to take advantage of the great resort discounts, so we are planning on going June 18-25. Now we just need to decide on a resort! Caribbean Beach is in the running because we love it there. Even though these are a bit pricier, we are looking at The Boardwalk, Beach Club, or Wilderness Lodge. We have never stayed at any so I was hoping to get some input from all of you wonderful Passporters!! We look forward to hearing your reviews! Thanks in advance!
I took a girls only trip with my two DDs in 2011. They were 26 and 29 at the time. We stayed in the mansion section at POR and LOVED it! Such a beautiful resort! We used the quiet pool most often, but once walked over to POFQ to use their pool.
We ate at the food court several times and found it to be very good. The create-your-own pasta is yummy and a huge portion! Another plus is the boat ride to DTD! It is so relaxing!
You can try a split stay and do a moderate for the 1st 4 nights and a deluxe the last 3. Depending on the ages of the girls you can splurge the savings on some tours or maybe a spa treatment. Try a new resort as you will not be disappointed. Have to take care of those NJ girls, originally from Wayne NJ
WDW Vet...we are (were) practically neighbors! We are from Kinnelon, NJ! I never thought of a split stay. Do I dare bother my travel agent with more changes?!?
We've stayed at all those but Boardwalk. If you decide on an Epcot resort nothing beats BC/YC and SAB. Best pool in wdw.
For mods we enjoyed CBR, stayed in Jamiaca, but out fav mod is POR.
Personally, I'm not a fan of split stays for short stays. I'd pick a resort, and enjoy it. We only do a split stay on trips 10+ days. And even then not always. In January we stayed 10 nights at POFQ and loved it.
Enjoy! I love my girls only trips. My husband isn't a Wdw fan either.
I'd go for BC or Boardwalk. That area is so convenient in walking distance to both Epcot and HS. But they can be pricey depending on time of year. Another alternative could be the Swan or Dolphin they're next to boardwalk but usually the price of a moderate (listed as a deluxe accommodation). It's not a Disney hotel but has all the benefits of a Disney hotel except Magical Express. We're trying the Dolphin in June. We've always wanted to stay in the Epcot area since we love having dinner there but couldn't afford summer rates at Boardwalk/BC. So I can't personally vouch for the hotel but I have read some great reviews.
We haven't stayed at Caribbean Beach, but we've stayed at all the others and have loved our stays at them. Of them, our favourite is the Beach Club for its location and its theming. Stormalong Bay is a real plus here too.
I've stayed at all of them and the Wilderness Lodge is my favorite of the bunch. I love being able to take the boat to MK. If you think you and the girls will spend more time at Epcot go for one of the Epcot area resorts.
I will be enjoying a girls only trip with my dd's, ages 24 and 26 a week before you go. We chose POR because it has the bigger rooms, queen size beds and a great pool bar. We also like the feeling of the resort, taking the boat to DTD and having both a great food court and restaurant.

I was surprised to find that they didn't sell food at the POR pool bar. Only chips. Just wanted to inform you of that.
I love the Beach Club!!! Great location, large and fun pool area, Beaches and Cream......yes, I do love the Beach Club!
WL is a beautiful resort as well! It is just a boat ride away from the MK! You can watch the night time water parade from the beach area. It too has a nice pool.
But, if you love CBR, that is a great resort too! Of the moderates my favorite is POFQ. Small in size, one bus stop, and I love the food court there because of the beignets!
making your decision! Choosing the resort is always very hard for me to do!
If you're prepared to splurge, Beach Club seems to get the rave reviews from everyone. Our friends just bought DVC for there (waitlisted actually, but expected to be finalized in time for next trip in winter 2014), they've done Disney every year for 12 years and stayed all over, but fell in love with beach club. we ate breakfast there last year. absolutely gorgeous.
if you're going moderate, I echo the votes for POR. so, so gorgeous and serene that I think we'll be choosing to leave the contemporary after a few nights and stay at POR again. royal rooms were so awesome!!!!! CBR only has double beds. We can't do double beds again!
