Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

No kids on your trip? Just couples?

Just curious if there are any others out there,
That go to disney just you and your spouse.. No kids.
or you and your friend?
Every year just me and my husband go, and a lot of of friends say why?
its a kids place.. and i dont find that to be the truth at all!

besides once i get there i am about 12 years old.. OK maybe 14.. We have made out near the castle once (giggles).and Epcot!

Just curious?

DH and I go to WDW without kids. We don't have children. Usually some of our family meets us there and we have a great time.

No kids here either. Until last year, I always did WDW solo. It's different seeing / experiencing it with someone else.

My husband and I went alone last October to Disney and left my two sons home (17 and 4) and had such a wonderful time. My in-laws came over and watched them in our home so as not to break their routine too much. It was hard leaving them, but we had such a great time -- did so much by ourselves! We were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. We then took both boys back in January -- had an equally great time, just two very different kinds of trips!

We go without the kids all the time! When the boys were younger, we were in the military and couldn't afford it. Now we can afford it and we bought DVC so that the boys will be able to take their own families in the future!

We love going "just us." It's become "our place" and we have a wonderful time!

We LOVE taking our boys (9 and 4) to WDW. That said, DH and I are waiting for the day when we can go alone (or at least, when the boys are 10 or 15 years older and we can all do exactly what we want). There are magical things to do at WDW with kids, and without them!!

We don't have kids and we love going to Disney - we can be like kids all over again and can forgot about our adult lives while we're there.

Yikes. I don't even have kids yet and I love it!

I do find a lot of people who don't go though do view it as a kids place. Once they go they change their mind though!

I think people think of it as a place where you meet Mickey and ride Dumbo and thats it. I am just hoping I like it as much when I have kids with me! I am sure it will be more hassle but WELL worth it.

Our first trip May 2005 my DH and I went alone since we didn't have kids back then. I was alittle worried about not going with kids but we had such a wonderful time. We did some tours of the parks, rode all the rides we wanted to as well as several wonderful meals while watching the fireworks. The best was my DH playing several rounds of golf at different courses while I slept in and enjoyed the spa.

I think if you love Disney movies and having fun...you won't feel so weird being without kids. We had the most relaxing stay and my DH wants to try out several other golf courses when we return.

I never noticed more kidless couples at WDW than I did on our last trip. We've been 5 times w/just each other. I was poking around to see what he thought about this December, and DH said that we'd have to leave my baby with my parents! I'm not ready for that, but thought it was pretty funny that he was still willing to go.

I have been alone, my husband and I - we stayed at Wilderness Lodge that year and it was so much fun. That was before we had kids and we did Disney the adult version - lol - we ate and drank wine everywhere and had a hugely wonderful time. One day we will do it again. My mom and my stepdad have come full circle. They used to go and just take my little brother and now he's all grown up and out of the house, so they go with us, but have plenty of time alone as a couple and they enjoy it a lot. Disney is NOT mainly for kids - I wouldn't even say MOSTLY for kids .... Disney is unique - it's not for one age group - it's for all.

Ella, yes it is well worth it with the kids - it is more stressful - but the first trip I took with both the boys - was by far, the best trip ever - seeing Disney through their eyes was so awesome. Every part of me that loved Disney all for myself - just totally melted away and now we LOVE it for the boys. These trips we do a lot of things that I've done so many times before - but it's so magical for them - it's so worth it!

I go without kids all the time for work. My kids understand, but they really want to go with me. I do have to bring home some kind of "prize". I look at it as scouting out the new stuff so when I take them I know exactly what to do with them. Besides I can ride the stuff they aren't big enough for yet.

Have a great trip!

We don't have kids yet so we've always done Disney without kids. As much as I love being about to do whatever I feel like doing, I honestly can't wait to have kids to take along. It must be wonderful to see Disney through their eyes!
