As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

How do you store your pins?
We've finally gotten to the point where we have too many pins to fit on our lanyard, so I am trying to look for a way to store them. How do YOU store YOUR pins?
I have looked at the pin trading books/binders/backpacks that they have at disneystore.com, but I think $60 is too much to pay for my children to store their pins. Are there any smaller (i.e. cheaper) bags/books?

Re: How do you store your pins?
I Just got a Disney pin collectors book on ebay for $24.00. It has room for about 100 pins and is really nice. I had too many pins as well and needed to keep them clean and safe. Check out ebay, and if you do not find it, let me know and I will send you the email of the person I bought it from !

Re: How do you store your pins?
I made my own album with materials available at most crafts stores. I bought these sheets of black felt that are stick on one side and stuck them to a piece of black posterboard that I cut out to be the same size. I had to do a little measuring, but I fit 20 pins on a page and punched holes on the side. Then I put them in a three-ring album and separated each page with a sheet of black felt with holes punched for the binder. It looks great and I can add pages when I need them.

Re: How do you store your pins?
We have started framing alot of ours. Anything to trade is on lanyards or in a trading book.
The rest we have started grouping and framing.
One day I will take a picture and post them. DH did a really great job.

Re: How do you store your pins?
We made our own small size books, using full zippered size personal organizers. We bought them on a clearance rack for a dollar. We took a couple of pages of craft foam - cut them to size, and punched them with a six hole punch. Voila, an easily transportable (these have a little handle on them), protective case for the pins. The only problem is - DH is obsessed with MIB collectibles - He won't take them out of the original packaging - so most of our pins are in a rubbermaid snaptopper box still in the packaging - he won't trade! The only ones in the book are the ones he traded for, etc, that were on our lanyards, so they are already "ruined!"
You could also do this with some soft sided CD carriers - but the holes would be more difficult to line up.

I would love to frame them but the collection keeps growing! The pin book works great for me.

Re: How do you store your pins?
I just framed what I have already. I bought a really nice 11x14" display case at Michael's for $14.99 and stuck the pins to the provided batting. I then hung it on the wall from the hooks that were already on the back. It looks really nice, but then I don't have a ton of pins and don't expect to get a whole lot more, just a few.

Re: How do you store your pins?
We framed them in 11 x 14 shadow box frames from Michaels. they were $9.99 each with a coupon. They centered their favorite pics on each one and surrounded their pins. They look very nice. Of course, our collection isn't huge.

<font size="2" face="Comic Sans MS, Arial">Probably! Just kidding!
I was not into pins until my Dkids insisted on buying me B&theB pins because it's my favorite movie. Now I catch myself checking websites and Ebay for B&theB pins! Someone really needs to save me and bring me back to the, "I only buy them for my kids" side!

Re: How do you store your pins?
So glad I saw this thread! I guess I'll be going to Michaels. Well, not today, there's so much snow you can't see past the driveway!
I've been wanting to display our pins for so long! The problem is we have 100s of them! Not just from the parks, but from when I was a CM, and when TDS released their first pin collection in 1998, I managed to get all but three of those. I think those were four a week for a year (?), I can't remember. Needless to say, I want to show them off!
Thanks for the info,
Jessi

Re: How do you store your pins?
I have framed some of mine in shadow boxes. My Mickey and the Fireman is in a frame with the picture that the pin design came from. I have a staw hat that the crown is full, so I have moved to the brim. It sure is getting heavy. I don't guess I'll wear the hat anymore.

Re: How do you store your pins?
I have my "keepers" on a framed cork bulletin board - I'll eventually have to get a bigger one...the only disadvantage of this method is that if you keep on changing the configuration, the cork develops holes and the pins have to be moved a bit to find a more solid spot ...
Also, right now the Disney Store (at least, the ones near us) have the Magical Musical Memories binders (complete with pages to hold 108 pins) for $5...these originally sold for $20. I figure that this will do for the pins I get when I go to WDW in March until I get them home - not that I'm planning on getting that many new pins, but one never knows..... Also, I can use it for the pins I want to trade, but don't have room for on my lanyard (I went a bit nutz at the TDS with the 62 cent pins)...
